I found out this morning that the new fad in skin care is extract of snail cream in cosmetics. The idea doesn’t seem so weird, actually. We have been trying to harness the power of nature to give us good looks forever. And the animal extract is nothing new.

Snails cream is a complex mixture of natural nutrients, many of which were already being used in skin care products. There is no proof that adding snail cream to products helps anything, but trials on just the slime have shown that Hippocrates was right.

The application of snail cream can help with warts, acne, and calluses. Old medical practices have used snail slime for all kinds of healing—including broken bones. A lot of these practices are rooted in superstitions: if you went and found a large black snail, rubbed its underside on your wart and then impaled the snail on a large thorn, your wart would go away. Supposedly. But the properties of snail cream in cosmetics have shown a little evidence of it helping.
