NASA is the most relevant space agency in the world for many reasons, one of them being the New Horizons’s Pluto flyby. This puts it way ahead of Russian Roscosmos and the China National Space Administration.
NASA’s July 14 Pluto Flyby Was Historic
NASA has many firsts on its books. It was the first agency to launch a missile from Cape Canaveral, hosted the first satellite launch by the United States. It also took the first pictures of Earth from a satellite and hosted the first TV broadcast transmission from space. NASA launched the first Mercury capsule suborbital test launch, and also had the first spacecraft scan another planet. It launched the first successful Mars probe and made the first soft landing on the moon. NASA even launched the first man-made object to ever leave the solar system. Most recently, the New Horizons space probe was the first one to take footage of Pluto and is the probe to get closest to the dwarf planet.
These are probably the reasons why it doesn’t feel like other agencies like Russian Roscosmos and the China National Space Administration. The truth is, there’s a lot more to it than historical facts.
The Importance of USPS Releasing A Pluto Stamp and Russian Roscosmos
NASA is the most predominant space agency in the Western world. It has displayed great reliability, and it markets itself dangerously well. Since Louis Armstrong stepped foot on the moon in 1969, NASA has been making headlines.
Westerners probably know NASA’s power best since they are Western. If one were to look further East, things would be very different. Russian Roscosmos put the first human in space, and also launched the first satellite in history. They also conducted the very first flyby of the moon. Russian technology has changed the way space travel is conducted. Many of the minds behind NASA’s first came from Russian soil. These men and women would probably be a part of Roscosmos if circumstances were different. So it wouldn’t be fair to say that NASA is solely responsible for making this much space history.
China National Space Administration is Still Catching Up
The China National Space Administration has been slow on the uptake. Space technology doesn’t run at the same speed in all parts of the world. But China will catch up. That entire region of the world has given history many firsts in general, and Asian cultures have made many invaluable inventions. Eventually, the China National Space Administration too will excel in the field of space technology.
