You Can Get Popular in Brazil for Being Racist - http://clapway.com/2015/12/02/you-can-get-popular-in-brazil-for-being-racist-123/

Every racist’s dream has come true as people can now get popular for being racist in Brazil. Now, this is probably not what you think, but it is still a very interesting revelation that is happening in Brazil. A black women’s rights organization named Criola has recently launched a campaign to stop racism. What Criola has announced they are doing is posting anybody’s racist comments online and making them visible to all.

CRIOLA TRYING TO STOP PEOPLE FROM BEING RACIST

The first thing that needs to be said is being racist is not a good thing and nobody should be. Criola most likely feels the same way as well. Criola has mentioned how the team identified racist posts on Facebook and that they used geolocation tools to find out exactly where the post came from. After this they said the comment was then posted on billboard sites nearby. The one thing that Criola did mention, though, was that the name and face of the author would be blurred. This prevents the person from being virtually attacked themselves. Criola explained how their intent is to not publicly expose anyone, but just to show the world that virtual racism is nothing to be messed with.

The whole idea of trying to stop virtual racism is a good one, but this might not do the trick. If the person who posted the racist comments photo and name were not blurred, then it might make more of a difference. If people are worried about that happening, then they should not post a racist comment. It is understandable on why this is not the case. Doing this would infiltrate people’s privacy and most likely cause a lot of criticism. However, a lot of credit has got to go to Criola for partaking in this project. They have the right mindset and hopefully they can help with virtual racism.

Brazilian Technology To Fight Global Warming - http://clapway.com/2015/11/18/brazilian-technology-to-fight-global-warming123/

Brazil is On A Mission to Fight Global Warming

New technology out of Brazi has set its mind to fight global warming by combining the technology that goes into integrated grain and meat production and forestry. Brazil produces close to 200 million tons of gran every year, and they are also the #1 meat producer in the world.

By combining these forces, EMBRAPA is hoping to bring a technology that can reduce greenhouse gas emissions and fight global warming.

The Plan: Mixing Planting of Grain and Cattle Pasture

The ideal strategy to fight global warming would start by growing a plant called Brachiaria brizanthia, which is used to promote the soil quality for soybean and corn crops. These crops circulate throughout the years, and using this plant as a base would help optimize its condition. This system would be in place between 1 and 3 years, and after that, the crops can be reused as cattle fields. The degraded pasture in the soil would end up producing twice as methane in this system.

Reducing Deforestation to Fight Global Warming

The next step would be to recover the pasture, which would allow for more cattle in the area. This could also help reduce CO2 emissions for the grain crops, because shrubs such as Eucalyptus can spring from the pasture. Eucalyptus is able to absorb CO2, and if this plan is well executed, Brazil will not only be the top producer of feed and food in the world, but will also help reduce greenhouse gas emissions and reduce deforestation.

The 5 Greatest Foods You"ve Never Heard Of - http://clapway.com/2015/10/12/foods-adventure123/

To travel on an adventure around the world has many perks. You get to experience a new area in its entirety. It isn’t right to live a full life without experiencing a new adventure; there is much to see outside of the culture you’ve grown accustomed to living in. Go somewhere fresh, a place where everything is new and unique, the language, the style of buildings, the landscape, and most importantly, the food.

Here are some tips on the foods you have to try during your adventure.

1. Feijoada in Brazil
One of the heartiest stews on the planet boasting a prime selection of meat served with rice and collard greens on the side.  If you happen to find yourself in Brazil, be sure to ask around to find the greatest Feijoada in the area.

2. Neapolitan Pizza in Italy
Pizza is the greatest food on earth, even bad pizza is still good pizza. You cannot consider yourself a pizza connoisseur until you have tried a Neapolitan pizza in the country it originated in.

3. Meat Pies in Britain
Cheers to hoping this fad catches on in America. Steak, sausage, and beef, delicious, let us just think of name that makes it sound a bit more appetizing.

4. Varenyky in Ukraine and Russia
I need to try this, verenyky is a dumpling filled with mashed potato, meat, sauerkraut or cheese. The outside is then coated with salo (cured bacon fat) and onions. That list of ingredients could make even the driest mouth of a grandmother moist like a humid jungle.

5. Causa in Peru
That verenyky has got me thinking about potatoes. If you find yourself on an adventure in Peru, try some causa. It’s a mashed potato CAKE, often stuffed with avocado, tuna, egg and shrimp.

Happy birthday.

It is important for your taste buds to experience adventure as well. Every culture is different; some places in the world enjoy a pig’s intestine while other grill savory bugs fit for consumption. That’s just the way it is there, it’s the social norm. I hope I educated you a bit and inspired you to try something new for the next time you find yourself in a foreign country.

Fossil Mystery: The Snake That Could Walk - http://clapway.com/2015/07/24/fossil-mystery-the-snake-that-could-walk468/

Snakes Today as We Know them

Today, we are surrounded by thousands of different species, and several new ones that are discovered every other day but take a while to get classified and released officially. At the moment, there are more than 3,000 species of snake, some venomous and some not.

However, what you don’t expect to make the list, even among snakes that can swim, fly, etc., is the snake that could walk.

Oh yes, on the 16th of June this year, an article was accepted for publication in the Science journal detailing the fossil that was found in Brazil. The fossil was dated to be from the Early Cretaceous Crato Formation of Brazil.

The Find and the science world’s Reactions

You have to wonder when you find something like this if you are not really mistaken—maybe it could be a really long lizard. But, upon further examination, it was discovered that the remains are more serpentine the movement and body type than before. This finding suggests that snakes would have evolved not from marine creatures, but rather from burrowing ones.

A follow-up article was written with this discovery yesterday in Science mag as well. There, the writing goes into a bit more detail about the find, and how well-preserved it was for an early fossil.

However, what’s garnering attention isn’t the scientific research that’s been done thus far. No, instead it’s the past of the fossil that’s pulling in readers.

The Mysterious Circumstances of the Snake that could walk

According to the data provided by the team, the fossil came from northeastern Brazil, However, the question of when the fossil was unearthed is a pressing one, as well as how it ended up in the German museum today. Concerns such as this are important to get some sort of closure on, as in Brazil, it’s been illegal to export fossils since the forties.

However not all are concerned with the illegality of the situation. One of the authors remarked in the article that the discovery was more important, and other concerns not relevant to the study were immaterial.

So, we’ll just have to see what news the snake that could walk brings us, but also whether or not the past of its fossil is resolved.

Italy: Taking Kids" Creativity to the Next Level With Segni Mossi - http://clapway.com/2015/06/27/italy-taking-kids-creativity-to-the-next-level-with-segni-mossi543/

By mixing dance and performance art, an organization in Italy is taking kids’ creativity to the next level.

Spread across a giant paper canvas with charcoal in hand, children begin to express themselves with carefully choreographed gestures. The drawings on the floor gradually turn into a permanent evidence of their movements.

Segni Mossi (Moving Signs), an experimental project born from the partnership between a dancer and a visual artist, will leave you amazed. Watch their video here.

EXPLORING THE BODY-MIND CONNECTION

“You can draw with your whole body while running, jumping, laughing. You can draw with your eyes shut, draw with someone else’s body, draw with your voice.”

With this experimental belief, Segni Mossi stimulates kids’ creativity by exploring the mind-body connection. The project helps the younger ones to gain self-confidence and learn how to work in groups.

From children in Brazil and Portugal, to people with disabilities in Ecuador, Segni Mossi inspires artists across the globe to break the limits of creative expressions by merging dancing with drawing.

MIXING MUSIC AND MOTION TO BOOST KIDS’ CREATIVITY

Founder Alessandro Lumare, author of illustrated books for children, told Clapway that he came up with the idea after carrying out a research on the ancestral pleasure that drawing generates in human beings. He joined hands with ballerina and choreographer Simona Lobefaro and together they discovered a new way of mixing music and motion.

“To dance means more than just moving your body. You start with a project, an intention or an emotion. Then you interact with the space creating different atmospheres,” Lobefaro told Clapway.

Pediatricians, child development specialists and early educators all agree that dancing can be beneficial. Not only can it keep even the youngest children active, but dancing also benefits kids’ creativity as well as the development of their social and cognitive skills.

FOCUSING ON THE “CREATIVE PROCESS”

“We focus on the creative process rather than on results,” Lumare explained.

The multidisciplinary approach proposed by Segni Mossi is a theatre piece, a dance performance, a drawing workshop as well as being an intense exchange between participants.

According to EduDance, dancing has been demonstrated to be clinically effective in improving self-esteem, attentiveness and communication skills in children. It reduces stress, fears and anxieties, and has been shown to benefit people with disabilities. Mix dancing with drawing and you have a winning formula boosting kids’ creativity and development.
