San Bernardino Shooting is More Crazy Than Fictional San Andreas Shooting - http://clapway.com/2015/12/03/san-bernardino-shooting-more-crazy-than-fictional-san-andreas-shooting/

A very serious and deadly shooting has recently occurred in the now scarred town of San Bernardino. Some law enforcement officials in California commented that there are two prime suspects that were shot and killed during the altercation. Syed Rizwan Farook and Tashfeen Malik were the two suspects that were killed by the police during a shootout. They were only 28 and 27 years of age respectively.

WHAT HAPPENED AT SAN BERNARDINO?

December 2nd, 2015: this is the date that all citizens of San Bernardino will remember with sorrow and disdain. On that fatal day, men with black ski masks entered a building for the disabled and opened up gun fire. The law enforcement officials reported 14 people were killed in this awful travesty. As of right now, there are no details on any motives behind this manslaughter. The police did comment and say that they are at ease with the fact that the two main shooters of this incident are deceased.

WAS THIS A TERRORIST ATTACK IN SAN BERNARDINO?

It sounds like the government officials are not ruling out that this was a terrorist attack. The assistant director of FBI’s Los Angeles office brought up the fact that many people will ask if this was an act of terrorism. He commented on the fact and said that it was a possibility. However, he did say that they are not willing to have that be a factor yet. It sounds like linking this to terrorism would be the last case scenario.

CITIZENS OF SAN BERNARDINO NOW OFFICIALLY SCARRED

There is no doubt that this is an awful event that took place for any citizens in the area. It is sad to know that some people resort to opening fire on innocent civilians. Those 14 people did not deserve to die, and they were most likely enjoying a normal day of their lives. Then, next thing you know, their families have to make funeral reservations. Death is never the right answer, and this just shows that some people in this world are not right in the head. A truly sad day for everyone.

FBI vs. Only One Russian Hacker, Guess Who’s Losing - http://clapway.com/2015/11/26/fbi-tracking-russian-hacker123/

The FBI has been at the heels of a Russian hacker connected to the theft of the largest number of passwords and usernames to date. The hacker, known as ‘mr. grey’, has been reported to have been involved in a heist of personalised log-in credentials.

‘mr. grey’ Stole Over 1.2 Billion Usernames and Passwords

The hacker, which is allegedly a part of an entire Russian crime ring, also stole over 500 million email addresses last year. The FBI has declared that it’s getting closer to ‘mr. grey’ thanks to the discovery of an email sending spam.

Following this lead, the FBI has been granted a warrant to follow-up, and as of the court files released last week, there hasn’t been any further information on how the chase has progressed.

A Chase Four Years in the Making

The email, which was initially sent in 2011, offered services to anyone looking for account information of Facebook, Twitter or Russian VKontakte, the Russian Facebook counterpart, claiming he could track it down. The results of this chase have not yet been released, but the FBI insists that this ‘mr. grey’ character could be a key figure in tracking down the team of Russians behind the credential heist last year.

FBI Spent Big Money On Tor Project Attack - http://clapway.com/2015/11/19/fbi-spent-big-money-on-tor-project-attack123/

Tor Project Cracked for Just $1 Million

In light of the recent terrorist attacks in different parts of the world, privacy and encrypted messaging platforms have become a priority for international security. Most recently, the FBI has paid Carnegie Mellon University $1 million to go after Tor, one of many encrypted communication platforms.

This Came from Claims that Tor Hacked the FBI

The Tor Project was uncovered by Carnegie Mellon’s Computer Emergency Response Team for their February activity. To date, the CMCERT is the only system to have hacked into Tor.

The Tor Project has since then claimed the FBI’s efforts as being of questionable legality and ethicality. The attack came with no warning or warrant, and according to the Tor Project, it makes the 4th Amendment protections online.

What’s Next? Will the FBI Attack Signal and WhatsApp

If the FBI has started coming for encrypted communication platforms, it could be that other famous and widespread platforms like Signal and WhatsApp may be next. Encrypted messaging is the focus point of the world, possibly for the rest of the year, seeing as despite the fact that violence has seen a decline, terrorism is under the limelight now more than ever. The attacks on Paris constitute the bloodiest attack on French soil since World War II, so now that the world is paying attention, the FBI is taking action.

UCLA Hospital System Hacked - http://clapway.com/2015/07/18/ucla-hospital-system-hacked975/

Another high risk data breach has been marked by the most recent hack into the UCLA System’s computer network. Hackers may have accessed sensitive information on as many 4.4 million patients.

THIS ISNT THE FIRST HEALTHCARE-RELATED CYBER ATTACK

This recent cyber-attack at UCLA is shortly after a major breach of federal employee records an another hack at a health insurance giant Anthem Inc. that affected 80 million Americans.

THIS MOST RECENT ATTACK HAS PEOPLE questioning HOSPITAL RECORD SAFETY

These recent cyber-attacks are bringing many questions as to the safety and ability of hospitals, medical providers and health insurers to protect the large amounts of electronic medical records and sensitive information that they hold.

The UCLA hack revealed that it hadn’t taken the small and basic steps of encrypting patient data brought about major criticism from patient advocates and security experts. This is very crucial, especially due to the fact that cybercriminals are targeting major players in retail, healthcare and government.

According to a Patient Privacy Rights founder, breaches of this nature will continue to happen because the healthcare system has built large amounts of systems with many weak links in them.

UCLA IS WORKING WITH FBI AND SECURITY EXPERTS

On Friday, UCLA announced that its working with hired computer forensic experts and the FBI to secure its networks. They also said that there isn’t any proof that any patient data was taken during the attack, but the possibility cannot be ruled out until the investigation is over. Hospital officials say that they are taking this attack very seriously and that patient privacy is of extreme importance to the university.

HOSPITAL REVEALED UNUSUAL ACTIVITY SINCE OCTOBER 2014

It was also revealed that the hospital has been detecting unusual activity on their computers servers since October of last year. Investigations were done with the help of the FBI. According to UCLA, it was not until May 5th that investigators determined that the hackers had gained access to parts of the UCLA Health’s computer networks where patient information was stored. This information included names, Social Security numbers, Medicare and health plan identification, and dates of birth. Some of the patient data dates back to 1990. According to UCLA, this access could have began as early as September of 2014.
