Drinkbox Studios have recently released their latest trailer for their PS Vita video game Severed. Let’s just say that this game is not for children or for those with weak stomachs. This trailer revealed some very gruesome gameplay elements among other things. The COO of Drinkbox Studios, Graham Smith, posted the brand new trailer on PlayStation’s blog.

SEVERED LOOKS COMPLETELY PSYCHOTIC

Smith commented on his blog post just what this game is set out to be. He mentions that the game follows the one-armed protagonist Sasha who is on a journey to search for her missing family. This is a very basic story, but a basic story is not necessarily a bad thing. If you do not believe that statement, play a Mario platform game and get back with me. Smith then commented that the protagonist will battle monster after monster and must find a new way to beat each one. The trailer showed Sasha ripping off the limbs of the monsters and using them to level up her abilities. It then showed that Sasha can pick up the monsters carcass and wear it to gain abilities. Smith then finished by saying that the game will have many puzzle elements in it, which appears to be the only civil aspect about the game!

SEVERED WILL TEST GAMERS STOMACHS

This is one of the most insane and sadistic games that I have ever seen. It appears like this game has RPG elements in it with the leveling up and upgrading. That is not the insane part, though, it is the fact that body parts and dead carcasses are what gives you the upgrades. Who comes up with this stuff? Some gamers will probably eat this up, no pun intended, but others will have an uneasy stomach when traversing through Severed.

MANY ON THE PLAYSTATION BLOG ARE EXCITED ABOUT SEVERED

As mentioned earlier, this trailer was posted by the COO of Drinkbox on PlayStation’s blog. Near the bottom of the page, there is a comment section. After scrolling down for a few seconds, it is revealed that many are actually excited for this game. Some gamers have interesting tastes and love the idea of crushing off limbs and all the blood that is involved. However, there are also some that are excited for the core gameplay elements involved in Severed.

PlayStation Network deals for the PS3, PS4 and PlayStation Vita have been announced by Sony. These include discounts on Warframe currency, God Mode, The Cursed Crusade and Persona 4: Golden.

This round of Playstation deals may not be as steep as players expect, but it certainly has a few goodies that gamers can take advantage of. Despite only being $5 off, the UFC 194 fight will surely be one of the top bidded thanks to this round of deals.

Speculation has risen that Sony is going to stop making PS Vita games, but Sony has denied that speculation. The PS Vita launched in 2012, but has played second fiddle to the PlayStation 4 and their new PlayStation VR that is reportedly being released in 2016. Even though Sony denied that their PS Vita is dead, it will be interesting to see how much attention Sony gives it.

IS SONY DENYING THE INEVITABLE

The president of Sony Corporations, Shuhei Yoshida, had a lengthy interview with Gamespot recently and described where Sony is at with their video games. Yoshida was stated as saying that their focus is indeed on the PS4 and the PS VR as the moment, but he still said that the PS Vita had a future and that third party game developers were still supporting it. Yoshida mentioned how as long as there is a demand for it Sony will continue to pay attention to it. Sony’s senior vice president, Masayasu Ito, did mention though that they had ceased all in-house development on the PS Vita. Ito explained that there are no planned first party games for the handheld in 2016, but that third party game developers do indeed have planned games for it. The big question is is Sony denying the inevitable? They clearly have stated that their attention is on the PS4 and the upcoming PS VR, so how long can the PS Vita really last?

THE HONEST FUTURE OF THE PS VITA

Let’s be honest here after hearing this news from Sony and realizing that the PS4 and PS VR will absolutely dominate Sony’s attention in 2016, it can be assumed that the PS Vita has a short shelf life left. Again, Sony has stated they have not killed the PS Vita, but they have announced they do not plan to make any games themselves for it. For Sony I do not think that the PS Vita really matters in the grand scheme of things when it is considered how popular the PS4 is and how hyped the PS VR is. The PS Vita for any who did not know is a handheld device and in this current era dominated by smartphones and mobile gaming is having a hard time keeping up. This could also lead to Sony’s inevitable demise of ending the PS Vita, but for now Sony refuses to say the PS Vita is dead.
