Top 6 Tech Movies We Think Stephen Hawking Would Enjoy Watching - http://clapway.com/2016/01/21/top-6-tech-movies-we-think-stephen-hawking-would-enjoy-to-watch/

Stephen Hawking is one of the smartest humans that has ever lived, and he probably liked watching tech movies. We think that the following seven movies are some of the favorites of Stephen Hawking.

MOVIE 1: IRON MAN

Iron Man was the first true movie that would set the tone for the Avengers. Not only this but it is probably still the best movie out of the entire Avengers franchise. Robert Downey Jr. put together one of the greatest performances of his career playing Iron Man, as well.

MOVIE 2: WALL-E

Wall-E is one of the most popular movies that has ever been produced by Pixar. That is saying a lot because Pixar has produced some stellar movies in the past.

MOVIE 3: INCEPTION

This next movie will simply make your mind numb. However, I have a hunch that Stephen Hawking understood this movie with ease! Inception tests the limit of the mind, and if you did not get confused watching this movie then I applaud you.

MOVIE 4: AVATAR

James Cameron is a mad genius, and Avatar proves it. After his amazing success with The Terminator, Cameron decided to make Avatar. Although it is not as good as The Terminator, Avatar does an amazing job of justifying 3D technology.

MOVIE 5: THE MATRIX

Seeing Neo dodge bullets still remains as one of the greatest movie scenes of all-time. There is no doubt that Stephen Hawking felt so too. The Matrix is one of the most “sci-fi” type movies that will ever be watched.

MOVIE 6: GRAVITY

The last movie on this list is a more recent movie. Gravity took the world by storm, and Sandra Bullock pulled off yet another amazing performance. This movie has a simple plot, but the metaphors and visual effects make this movie irresistible. Well, Stephen Hawking do you agree?!

Bill Gates and Elon Musk Will Save the World from AI? - http://clapway.com/2016/01/21/bill-gates-elon-musk-stephen-hawking-will-save-the-world-from-ai-123/

Bill Gates, Elon Musk and Stephen Hawking have all done their part in warning the world of the true power of artificial intelligence. All three men were actually awarded the 2015 Luddite Award, which is given by the Information Technology & Innovation Foundation.

Luddite Award is Given to People Who Stir Fear and Hysteria

Because of their honest assessment on the power of new technology, these three men have been called alarmists who spread horror. There were 10 total nominees to the prices, and all three received them after getting more 3,680 votes.

Luddite is a word from 19th century England, and it is used to describe someone who is opposed to advances in technology. This is hardly an appropriate denomination for any of these men. Bill Gates is almost single-handedly responsible for putting PC computers in homes, Elon Musk has made a revolution with electric vehicles. Volumes can be written on the impact Stephen Hawking has had on the world.

Artificial Intelligence Can Ruin or Save the World

None of these figures have been shy about their opinions on the potential of artificial intelligence. Elon Musk has publicly claimed that he believes AI to be more dangerous than nukes, and Hawking co-wrote an article where he expressed that there may come a point where AI can’t be controlled at all.

Musk and Hawking actually signed an open letter from the Future of Life Institute. The letter pledged that advancements in artificial intelligence would not be able to grow beyond human control. They later signed another later banning the use of automatic weapons that were able to choose and shoot targets without approval from a human. Gates has claimed before that he is in full agreement with their beliefs.

Unfortunately, Gates, Musk and Hawking Are Quite Right

Artificial intelligence is a lot more dangerous than people give it credit for. It could well exceed the control of humans. Soon enough, it won’t need it. We already see this in self-driving cars, which need no input from humans to work. Will machine win over man? Probably not anytime soon.

The truth is that Bill Gates, Elon Musk and Stephen Hawking are right on the money on the potential of technology. They are only encouraging caution.

Stephen Hawking: Black Hole Information Paradox #space #StephenHawking #blackhole - http://clapway.com/2015/08/26/stephen-hawking-black-hole-information213/

The leading physicist Stephen Hawking has a new theory information in black holes. Hawking explained the concept during a lecture he gave for the Hawking Radiation Conference at the KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm.

THE EVENT HORIZON

“I propose that the information is stored not in the interior of the black hole as one might expect, but in its boundary, the event horizon,” Hawking said.

As Andrew Tarantola of Engadget explained, the event horizon is the edge of a black hole. The main component of Hawking’s new idea is that particles’ information would dwell on the event horizon as two-dimensional holograms, the information of which would leave the black hole as Hawking radiation does.

STEPHEN HAWKING: THE INFORMATION IS EFFECTIVELY LOST

However, the information leaving the black hole does not resemble its pre-hole form, effectively losing it in the hole. “The information about ingoing particles is returned, but in a chaotic and useless form,” the physicist said. “This resolves the information paradox. For all practical purposes, the information is lost.”

At the conference, Stephen Hawking also suggested that everything that enters the black hole influences the Hawking radiation.

THE BLACK HOLE INFORMATION PARADOX

The dilemma of information leaving black holes is what physicists call the black hole information paradox. According to quantum mechanics, physical information never disappears; in general relativity, the same doesn’t principle does not hold up.

VIEW OF OTHER PHYSICISTS

As Gautam Naik reported for The Wall Street Journal, Hawking is not the first major physicist to postulate that information can leave black holes. Utrecht University’s Gerald ‘t Hooft published a slightly different version of it in 1996, in which he claimed that Hawking radiation brings information out with it as it exits the black hole. Dr. ‘t Hooft has since distanced himself from his study, “because I made some assumptions and my calculations showed that I get too much information” that leaves the black hole.

Another physicist that spoke to Naik disputed Stephen Hawking’s claim that the information paradox had been resolved. Carlo Rovelli, a physicist at a French university attending the conference, said “I wouldn’t say the solution to the information paradox has been found because there are several competing ideas.”

Stephen Hawking Will Be Doing a Reddit Q&A - http://clapway.com/2015/07/25/stephen-hawking-will-be-doing-a-reddit-qa567/

English cosmologist, physicist, and Director of Research at the Centre for Theoretical Cosmology at the University of Cambridge, Stephen William Hawking, is supposed to hold a question and answer session on Reddit. Stephen Hawking, who has ALS, is considered to be one of the most profound and prolific scientists of all time and will be attempting to answer the public’s questions. Hawking will be answering questions posted on Reddit for more than a week.

stephen HAWKING’S AMA WILL BEGIN ON MONDAY JULY 27

Theoretical physicist Stephen Hawking will be, as of Monday, answering questions posted on Reddit for more than a week. He will be answering the majority of the questions that come from the community. He also has a few topics in store for his audience as well. Hawking is also reportedly tempted to discuss his fears with artificial intelligence, which he states as, “potentially our greatest mistake in history.”

HAWKING WILL ANSWER MAJORITY OF QUESTIONS ON REDDIT

Recently, Stephen Hawking has made waves with other views on Artificial Intelligence, which is backed a quest to discover aliens resident in other star systems. Hawking has also given his support to the sum of $100 million Breakthrough Initiatives funded by the Russian billionaire Milner.

This will also mark the longest AMA, Ask Me Anything, ever in the entertainment, news, and social networking website. Reddit also is a haven for those who are sharing ideas, know-hows, skills, opinions, viewpoints.

THIS WILL BE THE LONGEST AMA ON REDDIT EVER

This will apparently be the longest question and answer session in the history of the free commenting website, which definitely needs a publicity boost. This question and answer is also a part of Wired and Nokia’s #MakeTechHuman initiatives, which is to start discussions that will inevitably benefit mankind.

A lot of people are wondering why Professor Hawking has been allowed to have such a long ‘Ask Me Anything’ – it is due to the amount of time that it takes for him to answer questions due to his slower communication method. He will be composing his answers using his Intel’s cutting edge assistive computer system.

His Question and Answer session will start on July 27, at 8 AM ET and the posts will appear on Reddit’s science section.
