Sorry Xbox fans, it does not look like the Oculus Rift is going to compete with the PlayStation VR. The VP of Oculus has stated that nothing is in the works right now, and that should make Xbox fans a little upset. However, here are five other reasons why Xbox fans should be even more upset:

REASON 1

The PlayStation VR is set to be a virtual reality take on video games. Everyone has known about this for quite some time now, and everyone is ready to finally play a virtual reality video game.

REASON 2

The idea to have the VR as an attachment to the PS4 could lead to more of this in the future. While the Oculus Rift is falling apart due to lack of development, the VR is proving that consoles can have multiple platforms on it.

REASON 3

The specs on the PlayStation VR are top of the notch, as well. The refresh rate comes in at a staggering 120 hertz, and the display is an awesome two 1080p OLED display. The latency is also a very low 18 milliseconds, and it also has 360-degree head tracking.

REASON 4

The idea of 3D sound is absolutely amazing. Well, the great news for all PlayStation fans is that the VR comes with a 3D audio engine. This basically means that all surrounding sounds will be heard, and will be heard in a 3D type of way.

REASON 5

Maybe the greatest feature to the VR is going to be the price. There have been rumors, and also leaked prices, but the official price is still unknown. However, it seems like Sony has made it evident that they do not want to break the bank of their consumers. There have also been rumors that it will be cheaper than the Oculus Rift.

There was a recently posted video on YouTube on the White House. This allowed viewers to tour the White House, and even say hi to President Obama, in virtual reality. However, even though this sounds really cool, the VR tour of this building was a little disappointing.

VR COMES TO THE WHITE HOUSE AND OBAMA

This VR video of the White House is available to watch on YouTube. It is a little over five minutes in length and features various still images of monuments in the building. It takes you on a virtual reality tour. There is a voice-over guide during the video as well. You could tell this was taking recently because most of the rooms had various Christmas decorations. You could even say hi to virtual reality Obama. However, although this video gives viewers a peek at the White House, this video was admittedly a little disappointing.

THE NEW VR VIDEO OF THE WHITE HOUSE IS A LITTLE DISSAPOINTING

OK lets’ be honest, this video does not show very much. It honestly did not even feel like you were looking at a VR tour of the White House. It looked like a very rich man’s home, but there was nothing in the video that was worthwhile. Not only the actual tour itself but the images themselves did not look as good as they could have. The video supports 4K resolution, but that does not really matter because the images themselves do not look that amazing.

VR WILL CONTINUE TO GET BETTER

The potential of virtual reality is enormous and as companies, like Google, continue to work with it, it will continue to get better. The tools to make VR will continue to get better, and when that happens it can be expected that videos like this will continue to improve.

VR MAY HAVE BEEN DISSAPOINTING, BUT IT IS BETTER THAN NOTHING

Even though this video was a little disappointing, it is better than nothing. The White House is a building that many will never get the chance to experience. A virtual reality tour is the best chance everyone has to actually see the White House. So, even though this video was a little disappointing, at least, we got to see some of the building. In the future, we may see an even better video as VR continues to adapt. Then, we can see an even better version of Obama, at least until he leaves.

DISCOVERY VR TAKES YOU ON THE ADVENTURE OF A LIFETIME

For decades, Discovery has “told stories like no one else,” sparking the curiosity of millions of people around the world. Now, modern technology is paving the way for these stories to be told in an entirely immersive manner.
