Finally! An app every group of friends could use... - http://clapway.com/2015/07/07/microsoft-tossup-hassle-free-planning-app-for-messy-groups-of-friends-123/

Find it unmanageable to make plans with a large group of friends? You are not alone. Fortunately, a solution exists, and it’s Microsoft Tossup. This new app allows friends to research venues, vote on plans and chat, all from their smartphones.

The latest app released by Microsoft Garage lets everyone make decisions easily while on the go.

Making life easier for groups of unorganised friends

“Everyone has been through the tedious experience of planning a get-together which results in long email threads or text messages that go on and on without any resolution. We’ve built an app that helps people in these everyday scenarios,” says Ashok Kuppusamy, a group program manager whose team is focused on building mobile apps, within the Outlook team based in Silicon Valley.

Microsoft Tossup helps to poll friends, make and vote for plans

Users can make decisions about timing, availability, group activities, nearby venues and spending limits. Information for restaurants is pulled from Bing to help make decisions en masse. For indecisive friends, groups can add a countdown clock, to get answers quickly and turn those plans into reality.

According to Jennifer Shen, the principal program manager lead whose team built Tossup, the app removes the friction around planning. “It’s really about connecting with people, removing barriers that cause plans to fall through. Our aim is for you to spend more time hanging out with friends rather than coordinating schedules.”

But according to Microsoft it doesn’t just have to be about planning. People can use Tossup to ask for friends’ opinion on shoes to buy or to find out which team is the favourite to win the Big Game.

No stress: removing the friction about planning

Microsoft Tossup has already been tested by early adopters at the University of Washington in Seattle and Santa Clara University in California – as well as through Microsoft employees, their friends and families.

Do you hate making plans or simply need a tech organiser? If you want to give the latest Garage product a go, Microsoft Tossup is now available to download on iPhone and Android phones in the U.S. and Canada.

Top 10 Reasons Why You Need A Mexican Friend - http://clapway.com/2015/07/05/top-10-reasons-why-you-need-a-mexican-friend870/

You have probably heard the wonderful remarks presidential candidate Donald Trump made about Mexico and its people these past weeks. The first thing that comes to my mind is that The Donald most probably doesn’t have any Mexican friends. As a Mexican myself, I can share a little bit of our culture.

Mexican culture is like many other latin cultures

Mexicans, similar to other Latin cultures tend to be warm and friendly. We are noted for partying and enjoying quality time with friends and family. Mexas as we call ourselves tend to care for friends and loved ones like nobody else and will welcome you into our homes from day one.

10 Reasons Why:

1)Whenever you see your friends you will be filled with kisses and hugs. It doesn’t matter if its the first time you meet them, you will have to kiss them hello and goodbye. Having a Mexican friends means you will have a loving and affectionate friend close to you.

2) Are you looking for someone who loves going out and having a good time? A Mexican friend will always say yes whenever you invite one to any type of social event. Be prepared when your friend arrives to the party because they will probably bring a big crowd of friends promising an epic night.

4) If you are in need for some quality time with family, a Mexican friend will always invite you to hang out with their family and you will become part of them.

5) Need help to get a job interview or information on a girl you want to date? A Mexican friend will always be there to help you and make it happen. It doesn’t matter if they have to call the sister of the ex-boyfriend of their cousin, they will help you out.

6) Need a friend who invites and welcomes you into their home all the time? Mexicans will always welcome you to their home by saying, “mi casa es tu casa” or my house is your house.

7) Need someone to teach you bad words in Spanish? Mexicans will teach you and explain what each curse word means and how to use them.

8) A Mexican friend will always invite you to drink tequila or mezcal with them.

9) We will teach you basic Spanish and you will become a pro over the years.

10) Your friendship will last a lifetime. It doesn’t matter if you see each other every year or so, you will stay friends forever and will have someone to trust and rely no matter what.

Of course, the list goes on…

Although these are some of the main reasons why you should have a Mexican friend there are many other reasons that explain our culture and behavior. Feel free to share your reasons and experiences on why having a Mexican friend is beneficial. For more information and tips on traveling and food in Mexico and abroad visit michelleonbell.com.

Here are three reasons why my long distance friendships will last forever. - http://clapway.com/2015/06/25/3-reasons-why-my-long-distance-friendships-will-last-forever/

A research study, published by The Journal of Communication, not only tells us that long distance relationships can thrive, they can also be better than normal relationships.

Couples in long distance relationships have more meaningful interactions than couples that see each other on a daily basis. The minimal face-to-face time encourages lovers to utilize text messaging, video messaging, and other internet communication services. Through these conversations, partners build a stronger relationship by talking about passionate, personal, and non-typical topics. Instead of physical closeness, lovers form psychological closeness.

I think this research applies to long distance friendships as well. The love for your friends may be not be the same as the love for your partner but it is still love nonetheless. Your best friends are your real soulmates in life anyway, right? At this point in my life, I feel that my love for my friends from college remains extremely strong and we have continued to develop psychological closeness. This psychological closeness has taken time to develop and my four and a half years in college has helped solidify my unbreakable bond with my college friends. Here are three reasons why my long distance friendships will last forever:

3. Know Me Inside and Out

My college friends have seen me at my worst and have supported me at my best. They have seen me incoherent on the weekend (sometimes during the week) and can pinpoint when I’ve become completely intoxicated. They know my weaknesses and my pet peeves. They know how to make me laugh, what can make me laugh, and love the way I laugh. Our deep connections have allowed us to create inside jokes for a lifetime and to make memories that never fade. My college friends know me inside and out, and that makes my long distance friendships worth it.

2. Supported Me Like Family

I don’t even know why I used the word “like” in the subheading. My friends are family. When I would run late for work, they would pick me up, drop me off, and take me home afterwards. My friends invited me to “family dinner” because they knew that I barely had food in my refrigerator. And to wash it all down, they bought me copious amounts of alcohol. My friends supported me because that’s what families do and that is what they will continue to do throughout our long distance friendships.

1. Opened My Eyes

Going to college gave me the opportunity to meet different people from dissimilar parts of the country. Not only have I got to travel to new places, I have gotten the chance to learn from different perspectives. By meeting the parents of my college friends, I was given the chance to learn from the past and the traditions of people outside of my Southern upbringing.

No matter if you spend four, five, or six years in college, develop those meaningful friendships. You will definitely not regret it. I can tell you from experience that when you and your college friends get together after a long period of time, you will pick up where you left off. Build your psychological closeness and hang on to those long distance friendships.
