Organ Donation is A New Trend That Saves Lives - http://clapway.com/2015/12/01/organ-donation-is-a-new-trend-that-saves-lives123/

Wales has stated that they have implemented a new system to try to get more people to participate in organ donation. It is not secret that organ donation can save lives, but Wales is determined to get more participants to do it.

3. Organ Donation

WALES NEW SYSTEM FOR ORGAN DONATION

The Welsh Government has posted some amazing statistics on the state of the organ donation as we speak. According to Welsh, 1,082,991 people in Wales have opted in for organ donation, 34% of the people, and that 85,944 people have declined, only 3% of the total population. That is an amazing difference in people willing to save another person’s life to the people who want no part of it. Also according to Welsh, there are 224 people that are on the waiting list for an organ transplant in Wales right now, eight of them being children, and that 14 people have died in Wales while waiting for a transplant.

Welsh also stated how the opt-out system for organ donation will apply. According to Welsh, eligible people are those who are 18 years of age and over and those who have lived in Wales for at least one year. Welsh then states that a person will become a potential donor by either registering their decision to participate or by doing nothing at all. Welsh continues that everyone is considered to be a participant unless they tell Wales that they do not want to be. Also, it is mentioned by Welsh, if families are aware that one of their loved one’s does not want to partake in organ donation, they can tell a doctor and then that particular loved one will be exempted.

According to the Ministers of Wales, now over two-thirds of the population is aware of the changes and that they hope that they continue to see an increase in the number of participants. Wales has done something amazing here, as it gives more people a chance to survive that are in need of a new organ.

Toddler becomes a Hero - http://clapway.com/2015/07/05/toddler-becomes-a-hero754/

When the Innocent save the innocent

Just recently, tragic news broke that a three year old toddler died from brain cancer. The toddler was a little girl named Olivia Swedberg from Nebraska. The tragic death turned into an angelic story when the little girl helped to save two boy’s life by donating her organs.

The day the toddler becomes a hero

This was a moment of tragedy for the mother of the toddler, Lauressa Swedberg, who knew that with her daughter’s incurable tumor, the only thing left to figure out was their endgame. But, also happening in the background, the two boys’ mothers were posting news about their sons’ conditions on social media platforms, hoping for help of some kind to aid their children. That is when mother of the late three year old toddler helped her daughter be remembered forever as a savior.

This is the first step in organ donation; seeing the opportunity to help someone else in current circumstances. Because, as it is, thousands of people die waiting for an organ to come when it doesn’t. But on the flip side, thousands of people’s lives are saved when organs do come, which is why anyone can become an organ donor regardless of age.

Getting the facts straight

However, it is important to get the facts straight before becoming an organ donor. This is not only just for the organ receiver, but also for you and your family on both an emotional and psychological level. This is why the decision for Lauressa Swedberg, in which the toddler becomes a hero, was so monumentally touching.

The night of the organ transplant operation, the first of July, was when doctors came to a consensus that the organs would be suitable for the two boys despite their blood type difference. For one of the boys, the condition would have been terminal if he had not received his organ transplant.

The two boys, as mentioned before, are now recovering steadily with new functional organs, and with both mothers extremely thankful to Swedberg for her kindness. Swedberg then responded that this was her daughter’s chance to give back in life. The toddler becomes a hero and two little boys get to live full, rich lives.
