Technology is constantly adapting, and it is constantly improving. Here is a list of several emerging technologies that are going to change the world:

1: INJECTABLE TISSUE ENGINEERING

An engineer at Johns Hopkins University, Jennifer Elisseeff, is trying to change the need for joint replacement surgery. She and her team are working on injectable tissue engineering. This would replace the need for surgery if someone needed a joint replacement.

2: NANO SOLAR CELLS

Paul Alivisatos, who is a chemist at the University of California, has an idea that would use nanotechnology. This technology would produce a material that could reduce the cost of solar energy. Not only this but the material could also be used in buildings.

3: MECHATRONICS

Mechatronics is aimed at improving everything about an automobile. This would include the performance, the fuel economy, and many other factors. This would integrate new electrical components and software into vehicles.

4: GRID COMPUTING

The idea of grid computing is to link practically all types of data. Data such as databases, visualization tools, simulation, etc. Ian Foster and Carl Kesselman, from the University of Southern California, are the one’s who pioneered this idea.

5: SOFTWARE ASSURANCE

This is one of my favorite new technologies that will soon take over the world. Nancy Lynch and Stephen Garland are trying to develop tools that would prevent software from crashing. This is almost impossible, but error-free software would be amazing!

James Paulson is currently leading a development, named glycomics, that would turn sugar into a drug. This is being done so it can help minimize the damage of those who experience heart attacks and surgery.

7: QUANTUM CRYPTOGRAPHY

The need to worry about hackers may soon be over! Nicolas Gisin, from the University of Geneva, is currently working on a tool that would detect whenever someone is trying to eavesdrop.

Just like everything else, the NBA and NFL are always adapting their technologies. Each one of these organizations has five very intriguing new technologies.

Officials in the NBA use digital whistles, and this allows the time to automatically stop as soon as the whistle is blown. This adds an extreme amount of precision to the game of basketball. The next awesome technology is DLP Cubes. These are cubes that display banner graphics, ads, and scores of other games. The NBA also uses clear LCD’s for all of their shot clocks. The next technology may be the best out of all of them. The NBA is currently working on digitizing all of their archives, and storing them as Windows Media files. Lastly, they are starting to cater to their fans with all of the massive HD TV’s that can be seen in NBA arenas.

TOP 5 NFL TECHNOLOGIES

The NBA is not alone with adapting their technology because the NFL is right behind them. The following five technologies were introduced prior to the 2014 season. The first one is real-time player tracking which literally tracks the movements of the players and the officials. This is accomplished by placing transmitters in the players shoulder pads. Next, we have the tablet-driven playbooks. Way back in the day, players had to search through their playbooks in a three-ringed binder. Now, all players have to do is search through their tablet, and they can find all of the plays. The new Levi’s Stadium, which welcomes the 49ers, is the next technology as it will support 40 times better bandwidth than any other U.S stadium. The Jacksonville Jaguars hold the fourth technology, as they have they largest video boards in the entire NFL. Lastly, officials can now communicate with each other easier as they all have a microphone in their ear.

When something is invented it is automatically assumed that it is modern. However, here are five instances where modern technologies were not so modern.

PLASTIC SURGERY

Way back in 1917, plastic surgery was invented by Harold Gillies. He used this type of surgery to help repair some of the victims that were wounded in World War I. However, it was revealed in the Edwin Smith Papyrus that this surgery actually took place way back in 3000 BC. Ancient Egyptians used this to rebuild thieves noses.

VENDING MACHINES

Way back in the late 19th century, vending machines were invented to dispense postcards of books. However, way back in the first century, the Greek Physicist Hero created coin operated machines that actually dispensed holy water in temples. Basically, this was invented so worshipers would stop taking holy water that they did not pay for.

ALARM CLOCKS

Another one of the major modern technologies that actually was not so modern was the alarm clock. Levi Hutchins is usually the man that is given the credit for inventing the alarm clock in 1787. However, way back in 440 BC the Greek Philosopher Plato actually used his own personal water clock to wake him up. So, I think he should get credit for inventing the alarm clock. The only difference with Plato is he was using water and not an annoying buzzing sound.

EARTHQUAKE DETECTORS

In 1875, the Italian Scientist Filippo Cecchi created the modern seismograph which was used to detect earthquakes. However, in 132 AD Chinese Inventor Zhang Heng actually created the very first seismoscope. His version was a 1.8-meter bronze vessel that was detailed with dragons on the side.

AUTOMATIC DOORS

Back in 1954, Dee Horton and Lew Hewitt created the automatic sliding door. They did this to solve the problem of opening a regular door in poor weather. They were not the first ones, though. In 50 BC, Hero of Alexandria had already invented an automatic door for temples. More modern technologies are sure to be made, and it will probably be revealed that they are not so modern.

Nobody enjoys slathering their body with sunscreen, but nobody wants to be burned by the sun either. Well, King’s College may soon bring everyone the best of both worlds. They are doing a study to figure out how to make a pill that will prevent people from being burnt by the sun.

PAPER-THIN PHONES AND COMPUTERS

This may be the most absurd of all of the futuristic technologies listed. Projects are currently underway to make a phone and computer that is as thin and flexible as a piece of paper. As a matter of fact, the Papertab was actually showed at the CES 2013.

TOOTH REGENERATION

As of right now, scientists around the world are working on how to regenerate the teeth in humans. They are basing this off of the alligator’s system of generation. There was actually a study that took place in UTAH a few years ago that proved that humans could regenerate teeth based on the alligator system.

HOLOGRAPHIC TVS

The last of the futuristic technologies is the holographic TV. So, instead of worrying about the screen size of your new LED TV, all you have to worry about is the viewing area. The display will also look just as good, if not better, than a standard HD TV.
