Google has added cellular connectivity to their Android wear smartwatch list. These had been limited by connectivity through Wi-Fi or bluetooth to make and receive calls or send texts, which poses a great inconvenience for users that have left their smart watch behind.


Google published a blog post this Wednesday with the announcement, which confirms that the Android Wear smartwatch roster would gain watches with cellular network connectivity to send and receive messages, track fitness, use Google and run all preferred apps. Google hinted that their Android Wear smartwatch list will even allow for making and taking calls from the smart watch.

Android Wear Smartwatch Available for AT&T and Verizon


The Android Wear smartwatch is available online from AT&T, and it will be available in stores as of November 13. The LG Watch Urbane 2nd Edition LTE Android Wear smartwatch is also available for pre-order from Verizon starting November 12, and hit Verizon stores November 19.


This new Android Wear smartwatch costs $299 out of AT&T out of contract. For Verizon, the price is a little steeper, starting at $499 off-contract. The new Android Wear smartwatch has a 480×480 pixel display, and will come with three buttons to access users’ contact lists, the LG Health Fitness app and a heart rate monitor.
