It is anticipated some parts of the local area will resume labor tomorrow.

Schools and colleges will reopen if conditions are remedied. Numerous government museums continue to be closed but anticipate resuming tomorrow, including the Royal Museums of Fine Arts, the Royal Library and also Museum of Natural Science. A declaration that the city is encouraging that visitors will understand this preventive measure connected to extraordinary problems.

Brussels Uses Advanced Technology to Find Suspects - http://clapway.com/2015/11/22/brussels-uses-advanced-technology-to-find-suspects123/

The Belgian capital was locked down on Sunday with police and soldiers patrolling deserted roads as authorities assessed whether to issue a security alert to to avoid a repeat of the bloody Paris attacks. With the world on side over the jihadist threat, United States President Barack Obama stated one of the most powerful tool to combat the Islamic State (IS) was to assert that we are not afraid.

Brussels is Not Afraid

In Paris, Defense Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian claimed a chemical or biological strike was amongst the risks that could threaten Europe, but that preventative measures had actually been taken. Belgian officials were to meet in the afternoon to evaluate the security alert, enforced over fears that jihadists had prepared assaults similar to those in Paris which killed 130 on November 13.

The city’s metro system and public buildings were closed, along with stores as well as restaurants after the horror alert was raised to the level of 4 due to what authorities claimed Saturday was an imminent danger. The historic Grand Place in central Brussels, usually dynamic, was virtually empty, with business severely struck in the run-up to Christmas as troops as well as armed police patrolled.

Suspects Identified, Belgium is on the Lookout

Inside Minister Jan Jambon said the authorities were looking not just for Paris suspect Salah Abdeslam who handled to slide past French safety and security forces after the carnage in the City of Light, but others that are reported to have been involved. Justice Minister Koen Geens stated in a separate Belga report he anticipated the local area to re-open on Monday. Belgium as well as the capital, home to the European Union as well as NATO, are no strangers to Islamist violence.

Belgium’s Past Run-Ins With Terrorism

Four people were shot dead at the Brussels Jewish museum in 2014, and in January, security forces eliminated two suspects connected to the Charlie Hebdo murders in Paris. The UN Security Council on Friday authorized countries to take all necessary actions to fight jihadist violence after a wave of strikes, consisting of the downing of a Russian airplane in Egypt with the loss of 224 lives as well as the storming of a luxury hotel in Mali which left 19 dead.

Pit Stop -- A Day in Brussels - http://clapway.com/2015/05/19/pit-stop-a-day-in-brussels/

One of my favourite things about living in London, is having Europe at my door step. After returning from Australia for a two week holiday, my feet were still itching and I couldn’t seem to shake the urge to get away again and discover more of Europe. With prior commitments and very limited funds, I knew I couldn’t go away for long. I wanted to go somewhere I had never been and I wanted to do it cheap. I jumped onto my favourite budget bus website, www.megabus.com and did a quick search for overnight buses. Belgium, Brussels was the top of the list and leaving that evening for a very reasonable price. A day in Brussels? Sounds perfect to me.

Although I had very little time in Brussels itself, I managed to experience a lot of Belgium’s culture. Planning on spending a day in Brussels? Check out my 5 recommendations for spending your day well in Brussels.

A DAY IN BRUSSELS

  1.  Marvel at the beauty of Brussels ‘Grand Place’.

The Grand Place is the town’s centre of Brussels. Walk down the narrow European allies to discover The Grand Square, home to Town Hall, Guild Halls, restaurants and of course, chocolate shops. There is no denying why tourists flock to this square for photographs and to explore. The buildings are beautiful and the atmosphere of the square is lively and gives you a great taste of Belgium.

  2.  Indulge in a tradition Belgium Waffle
It is essential, if you are spending a day in Brussels, that you find a waffle house and enjoy all the toppings. Even if Waffles are not on your agenda, it will be impossible to avoid temptation. With every turn, you will discover another store that is selling waffles and become overwhelmed by the delicious smells drawing you in. Note: You will be tempted to opt for the 1euro waffle, sold at every corner. However, i highly suggest you pay the little extra and get yourself a fresh waffle at a waffle house

  3. Spot a familiar face–the lovable Tin Tin
Yes, Brussels is not only known for its delicious food but the home of loveable cartoon character, Tin Tin. Depending on how much of a fan you are, brussels provides you with multiple options. For those ‘Tin Tin’ fans, learn about the comic book reporter, at the Musée Hergé or simply keep your eyes pealed as you walk around the city for Tin Tin murals. We saw a fantastic mural just by The Grand Place and Manneken Pis statue.
Note: If you’re interested in comic culture, Brussels is the place for you. I ran out of time but would have loved to visit the Belgian comic strip centre.

  4. Visit a chocolate store and leave with your hands full.
We all know Belgium is famous for Chocolate. Make sure you visit a few chocolate stores along the way while roaming the streets of Brussels. I took the time to visit several chocolate stores along the way, my favourite was located in The Grand Place. I loved watching through the window as the chef carefully coated strawberries in fresh belgiam chocolate, mmmm, if thats not enough to make your mouth water, I don’t know what is.

  5. Get lost as you wander through the allies of Brussels.
I spent majority of my time, simply wandering and I wouldn’t have it any other way. I saw so much of the city by taking a few wrong turns and ending up in places i wasn’t intending. Fear not, it is easy enough to find your way back to where you need to be, so let go and get lost for a while. Catch site of the Cathedrial of St Micheal and Gaulda, Manneken pis (you’ll see this everywhere and trust me, it will catch your attention), The Atoium, BELvue, Music Instrument museum and much, much more.
