Chipotle Outbreak To Lead Mexican Eaters to Taco Bell and Qdoba - http://clapway.com/2015/12/13/chipotle-outbreak-to-lead-mexican-eaters-to-taco-bell-and-qdoba/

A bit of subtle karma was just recently received by Chipotle. It was recently pledged by the CEO of the company, Steven Ells, that their company would become a safety leader within the fast food industry. Well, he will have to eat his words after this one. Health inspectors from Seattle have just recently shut down a restaurant over there. This came after Ells’s pledge and that marks a huge blow for the company. Time to switch to Taco Bell and Qdoba!

7. Chipotle 2

CHIPOTLE SHUTS DOWN RESTAURANT IN SEATTLE

The unfortunate aspect for them is this is coming off of already having a widespread outbreak. Health officials around the world reported several hundred sickened by an E. coli and norovirus outbreak from Chipotle. As a matter of fact, a man was interviewed in New York talking about a Chipotle restaurant. The man talks about how there was not a line at the restaurant he goes to. He continues by saying this was odd because in the past he had to wait in the streets at times. Now, it looks like things are getting worse. Chris Arnold, a restaurant spokesman for the company, stated that they closed down the Seattle restaurant due to incorrect temperatures for their food. Rice, meat, and various other ingredients were being kept at unsafe temperatures.

TIME TO MOVE ON TO TACO BELL AND QDOBA

The good news for Mexican enthusiasts who loved eating at Chipotle is they can just switch to either Taco Bell or Qdoba. This is considering that you do not trust this restaurant anymore which is not unreasonable. Fast food chain companies are most likely going to experience hardships, but to this degree is a bit ridiculous. Now, Taco Bell and Qdoba are not perfect, but they might be a bit more safe than Chipotle is right now. However, eating food at restaurants is always a risk anyway since you are relying on someone else to cook your food.

IS CHIPOTLE SAFE ANYMORE?

Well, I think we can say that at this moment Taco Bell and Qdoba are safer than Chipotle. However, can we even consider the fast food chain company safe at all anymore? The CEO did comment and state his apologies for all of their customers. He also said they are doing all that they can to rectify this outbreak. A lot needs to be done by the company for them to be considered safe again.

Chipotle Loses More Battles to the E. coli Outbreak - http://clapway.com/2015/12/08/chipotle-loses-more-battles-to-the-e-coli-outbreak123/

Chipotle shares have dropped down even further than expected after the E. coli outbreak recently associated with its food. The shares are currently down 3.5% at $543.31, their all time low being $515.00.

The Mexican Grill Erases 2016 Outlook for Comparable sales

Business has been extremely sensitive for the company since the outbreak, and it has declared in its securities filing that it is impossible to draw an accurate sales outlook. They even posed forth-quarter earnings at half of what analysts expected, at $2.45-$2.85 per share.

Chipotle is currently hiking up measures to increase food safety. This is both to handle the current situation. All of their fresh produce will be tested extensively before consumption, and the company will be enhancing employee training to optimize customer service and cleanliness.

Seven More Cases of E. coli Infections Have Been Linked to Chipotle

The CDC has linked more cases of E. coli to Chipotle, in Illinois, Ohio, Maryland and Pennsylvania. There should be an ingredient in common that all these people have, which would be the source of the problem, but the company hasn’t yet identified it. Since no causes for these infections have been identified, analysts are expecting shares for the company to get lower and lower. Barclays even lowered their share price target by 18% to $540.00.

Chipotle has many things to explain before the storm clears. Once the source of the E. coli outbreak is found, the company can start to make amends. It’s already hired firms to ensure food safety, and it has expressed intentions to change suppliers. All produce served at Chipotle will go through extra safety checks to make sure that this instance is not repeated. However, it’s safe to assume that the next year will be a dark one for Chipotle in terms of stocks, unless something miraculous happens that restores customer faith in the restaurant chain.

Chipotle Goes Crazy After New E. coli Outbreak - http://clapway.com/2015/12/05/chipotle-goes-crazy-after-new-e-coli-outbreak123/

Food safety standards are having a welcome change at Chipotle after the recent outbreak of E. coli on their foods. Over a dozen people have been infected through their goods.

IEH Laboratories Hired For Better Food Safety

The company, founded by Steve Ells, has hired IEH Laboratories in Seattle to help restructure their system. The E. coli outbreak has so far been associated with restaurants in Oregon, Washington, California, Minnesota, New Mexico and Ohio. The company will be implementing new testing on all of its produce before it gets sent to restaurants, including tests for shelf life.

This means that there could be changes in Chipotle’s produce suppliers, who may not be able to meet the new standards. This could cause some hardships on both sides of the business. There’s also been no official report on how much the company has lost in sales after the scandal broke out. Chipotle declared that they will provide a full financial update before the Bernstein Consumer Summit.

43 People Were Infected with E. coli From the Outbreak

Chipotle has been rigorously examining their products to fish for the ingredient that caused the outbreak. The process is akin to looking for a needle in a haystack, but they’re working towards finding the source of the problem. The incidence of E. coli has been increasing recently, which has become cause for concern for many Americans. It’s only right that Chipotle does its part in helping the efforts.

Food safety is probably the most important part of running any kind of restaurant or food-related business, and Chipotle has been sloppy making sure that their customers get the best experience possible. Their sales are sure to have seen a considerable decrease even in states where cases of E. coli were not reported. It’s yet to be seen how Chipotle will handle the scandal backlash.

Costco Celery Will Make You Sicker than Chipotle - http://clapway.com/2015/12/03/costco-celery-will-make-you-sicker-than-chipotle123/

Nineteen people in 7 US states have gotten sick from an E. coli outbreak, which has been linked to celery in the rotisserie chicken salad sold at Costco. Now people need not only to stay away from Chipotle, but also the gigantic wholesale corporation.

Taylor Farms Recalls The Product From All Over the Country

The FDA demanded that Taylor Farms, who provides the celery for Costco’s rotisserie chicken salad and many other grocery stores, recall over 155,000 items that are linked to the outbreak. The Farms, based in California, will be recalling salad kits, celery stalks, diced celery and chicken salad from Costco, Walmart, Safeway/Albertson’s and Sam’s Club in Arizona.

The FDA is Live-Updating the List of Potentially Affected Items

The outbreak is reported to have started as of October 6th, and it was initially linked to the Costco rotisserie chicken salad. As of November 23rd, nineteen people have been infected with Shiga toxin-producing E. coli O157:H7 across the western United States. Five people have been hospitalized, and no deaths have been reported.

Three days later, Taylor Farms issued a voluntary recall, and the FDA has eased the process of regaining control of the situation and stopping the outbreak.

E. coli Infections Could Last Only A Week, But Could Also End in Death

After contracting E. coli, most people recover in about a week with careful monitoring by physicians. Some, however, can go on to develop kidney failure, specifically the Hemolytic Uremic Syndrome, which can result in death.

The FDA maintains that people should be very weary of what they buy at all stores that have been related to the E. coli outbreak, such as Chipotle, Walmart and Costco. The Administration also warned that even if people who have consumed potentially infected products have not gotten sick, they should refrain from consuming any recalled products.

Chipotle and ShopHouse Are Killing Us Softly - http://clapway.com/2015/11/21/chipotle-and-shophouse-are-killing-us-softly123/

Chipotle’s Asian spin-off ShopHouse, first opened in 2011, is just becoming a trend. The chain specializes in making rice bowls influenced by the food cultures of Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia as well as Singapore are smashed together similarly to how they are in Chipotle’s burritos.

Steve Ells Goes From Mexican to Asian

More than 20 years ago, Steve Ells founded Chipotle with the concept that food served fast can be made sensibly, from the heart, and with our well-being in mind. In short, food served quickly does not have to be like what most people think of when they think ‘fast food’.

ShopHouse counts on this very same mentality, taking after Chipotle with its pledge to serve non-GMO food and making sure that their products are organic and taken straight from farmers’ fields. ShopHouse doesn’t have the biggest variety, but even the pickiest eaters can find something they like in the menu.

Chipotle

One More Fast Food Chain That’s Not Fast Food

ShopHouse Southeast Asian Kitchen is currently in California, Washington D.C., Maryland and Illinois, and it gives people on the run an eatery option that, while serving food quickly, is also healthy. There hasn’t been a word on if they’re actually using good ingredients free of bacteria like E. coli, though, so visit at your own risk.

Seventeen #Chipotle locations in #Minnesota have been linked to a recent #salmonella outbreak and are currently under investigation by the state’s health officials. - http://clapway.com/2015/09/13/chipotle-salmonella-099/

It turns out even Chipotle isn’t perfect. Seventeen Chipotle locations in Minnesota have been linked to a recent salmonella outbreak and are currently under investigation by the state’s health officials.

THE OUTBREAK

At least 45 people were sickened in the recent outbreak, and at least five have been hospitalized. Investigators had spoken with 34 affected people as of Saturday, 32 of whom ate at one of the 17 Minnesota Chipotle locations between August 16-26. Those interviewed became sick between August 20-29.

Officials are still working on confirming the specific source of the outbreak. They believe it to have been an “undisclosed ingredient,” and Chipotle has resourced the item being investigated.

This outbreak is reported to be unrelated to the much wider spread of salmonella across 30 states by cucumbers, distributed by Andrew and Williamson Fresh Produce and responsible for sickening 341 people. It is also unrelated to an incident in Simi Valley, California, where another Chipotle location is responding to a pretty severe Norovirus situation. Over 100 cases late last month were traced to the restaurant, which had to send 17 staff home sick and shut down for a day to reboot.

PREVENTATIVE MEASURES FOR SALMONELLA

It can be hard to say which incidences of food poisoning are preventable, and which are truly unfortunate accidents. Rashes of sickness like the ones we’ve seen this summer really speak to the importance of handwashing and diligent adherence to health codes when you work in the food industry–but it’s possible that some things slip through the cracks.

Chipotle, ever the noble ambassadors of good burrito will, have been humble and cooperative throughout the investigation. Health officials are giving the company kind words and gold stars (despite, you know, the salmonella). One spokesperson for the department of health said that “Chipotle has been extremely proactive in collaborating with investigators to quickly control the outbreak and identify its source.” Another asserted the Health Department’s confidence that it is now safe to eat at Chipotle, sharing that he had a burrito bowl there last Wednesday.

CHECK YOURSELF FOR SALMONELLA

Health officials also advised that this outbreak may have affected more than just the reported 45 people, given that many cases of salmonella go unseen by a doctor. Again, no one new should be affected by any potential contamination of the Minnesota Chipotle locations–resume your Chipotle duties according to their regular schedule. But be sure to consult a healthcare provider if you experience any signs and symptoms of salmonella food poisoning, especially because around 28 percent of cases require hospitalization, and invasive infections or other complications can occasionally occur.

And for the record, this author apologizes for contributing to ties between the good name of Chipotle and the gross realities of food poisoning. We still love you, Chipotle–it could have happened to anyone.
