The next rocket launch of #SpaceX is still delayed following a June 28 explosion destroying an unmanned cargo ship to the #InternationalSpaceStation. - http://clapway.com/2015/09/05/spacex-delay-101/

SpaceX’s next rocket launch has been delayed for a few months, following the June 28 explosion that destroyed an unmanned space station cargo ship to the International Space Station (ISS). Officials of the aerospace firm said the Falcon 9 rocket would launch in a few months, after previous plans to launch no later than September.

WHY THE DELAY?

Gwynne Shotwell, president of SpaceX, said Monday at a scientific forum in Pasadena that they are still “a couple months away from the next flight.” She said they’re taking more time than they originally had thought. “But I don’t think any of our customers wants us to race to the cliff and fail again,” she said. The explosion that occurred in June has initiated more careful construction, delaying the next launch. Until then, SpaceX had a flawless launch record for its Falcon 9, which had successfully completed 17 missions since June 2010.

OLD EXPLOSION PROMPTS FURTHER INVESTIGATION

The company’s Falcon 9 rocket was carrying cargo worth $110 million for NASA when it disintegrated two minutes after liftoff, according to the Los Angeles Times. SpaceX believes the likely culprit was a single, two-foot-long, one-inch-thick steel strut. Rocket struts on a Falcon 9 are designed to handle forces 10 times that of Earth’s gravity, or 10 g. The strut to blame broke at 2 g.

The manner in which NASA responded to this incident remains a heated debate. According to USA Today, NASA set up a independent accident review team after the explosion, but allowed SpaceX to conduct its own probe into the June crash. John Taylor, SpaceX spokesman, said the investigation is going as planned.

NEED A JOB? SPACEX IS LOOKING FOR A WELDER

SpaceX’s Falcon 9 rocket’s delay gives the aerospace company time to construct better launch pads. More time for better structure will save millions of dollars and possibly lives if SpaceX wants to continue launching rockets carrying cargo and still holds hope to transport humans. SpaceX announced that it’s looking for a structural welder for its launch site in South Texas, according to Perfect Science. Structural welding is an important utility of the launch site engineering and build team, the aerospace company said.

Is RI beach safe after explosion of unknown causes? - http://clapway.com/2015/07/12/reopening-expected-after-rhode-island-beach-explosion-234/

On late Saturday morning, part of Rhode Island was closed after a strange incident happened in Narragansett’s Salty Brine Beach.

Fortunately, even if officials don’t seem to know the exact motive for the blast, there appears to be no reason to keep the beach closed for the public, since there is no risk for people’s safety.

What Triggered the Mysterious Rhode Island Beach Explosion?

According to the investigators, the mysterious Rhode Island Beach explosion happened below the high-tide line on the shore. It appears that some ground disturbance was reported, as well as fissures created from an eruption from the ground.

In addition to that, people who were on the beach during the moments of the Rhode Island beach explosion stated that they recalled having smelled sulphur and butane, or some other sort of chemical smell.

Even thought there was performed an investigation and samples were taken from the spot, there was no explanation for the mysterious explosion.

A Woman Was Injured

As stated above, the investigations didn’t find any reason to believe Rhode Island could become an unsafe place for people, but the incident had a victim. Unfortunately, a woman sitting nearby was blown over by the blast. The good news is that the woman was conscious and able to have a discussion with investigators, at the South County Hospital, where she was taken.

What Could Have Been the Reason for the Mysterious Rhode Island Beach Explosion?

Until this moment, officials don’t know the exact reason that caused this mysterious incident, knocking a Rhode Island beachgoer to the ground.

According to some declarations, the problem could be related to a natural phenomenon since there was no indication of a device or malicious intent. However, the incident is still under further investigation, local authorities being assisted by The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

When will the Beach Be Reopened?

In the meantime, there seems to be no reason for the beach to remain closed since after investigations, its been considered to be a safe place for all beach lovers. In accordance with the declaration given by the State Department of Environmental Management Director, the beach is expected to be reopened today, Sunday 12th of July.

Defective Takata Airbags Claim Eighth Victim - http://clapway.com/2015/06/21/defective-takata-airbags-claim-eighth-victim987/

Takata Said to Be the Cause of Death

26 year old Jewel Brangman passed away after sustaining injuries to the neck and head while driving a rental Honda Civic that featured Takata airbags. As has become the case in a number of incidents relating to the airbags, too much force caused them to explode and send metal shrapnel flying. The airbag was determined to be the cause of Brangman’s death not only by Honda itself, but by the National Highway Traffic Safety Association. As a result of these determinations, Jewel’s father has filed a lawsuit against Honda and Takata, as well as the establishment where she rented the car.

What Went Wrong With the Takata Airbags?

The consensus is that the reason for the Takata airbags being so unreliable and dangerous stems from the use of ammonium nitrate. The major risk that comes with ammonium nitrate is that when it is exposed to moisture, it becomes highly unstable. When ammonium nitrate becomes unstable, it burns faster. And when it burns faster, the metal canister in the airbag that’s meant to contain the explosion breaks apart. These explosions have now resulted in eight deaths from the Takata airbags.

More Vehicles are Being Recalled

Honda has added one million vehicles to an already immensely large amount of cars being recalled due to the Takata airbags. The total now is up to nearly an astonishing 34 million vehicles. And Honda is not the only company reeling from the Takata controversy; Toyota has been forced to recall cars too as have General Motors and several other companies. Many of the recalled vehicles are models from 2003-2007.

Honda Claims They Tried to Prevent This

The Brangmans may be suing Honda as a result of the defective airbags, but Honda is working hard to cover themselves. Honda representatives claimed that in June 2013, they notified Sunshine Car Rental LLC of an airbag recall, but that their warnings went unheeded. In fact, this car was supposedly part of a recall that first started all the way back in July of 2009 and that up to four notices were sent for the car to get repaired.

Check out the Penny Skateboard! It’ll get you around town, and it definitely doesn’t have any killer airbags onboard.
