Smart Watches Are Coming For Your Nails - http://clapway.com/2015/10/23/smart-watches-are-coming-for-your-nails123/

Technological gadgets are coming in all shapes and forms these days: drones, robots, speakers, glasses, headsets, you name it.

Smart Watches Are the Top of the Pile

Recently, the smart watch has been defined as the future of technology, making it accessible and even smaller than our phones, tablets and computers. One day, smart watches may even be too small for our wrists, and could fit our nails instead.

A new project hopes to accomplish just that. A team out of New York hopes to devise a clear laminate to attach to our thumb nails, which will be able to display time and day. The project, still in its initial stages, hopes to become the future of smart watches.

As it Always is with Technology, Anything Could Happen

The real question this invention poses is: what’s next? A laminate that you can paste on your forehead that displays date and time?

Or perhaps a contact lens could be developed, as can derive from the hilariously advanced technology in superhero movies of all sorts, one that perhaps shows you the time just by thinking about it or by looking up at the sky?

Hologram watches are surely not too far behind, as 3D hologram technology grows every day, so we may one day be presented with campaigns that sell disc shaped platforms that will display date, time, weather and go with you through your morning routine as you get up in the morning. We may one day see them float around behind us, reading emails and text messages and even brew us our morning cup of coffee.

Big Things Come from Small Ideas

The Smart Nail Watch only promises to announce the very basic, what any analog watch made of a solid metal can do, so what is the novelty here?

The novelty is in the idea. The execution depends on a lot of factors, but the idea begets more ideas that will bring more ambitious and bigger projects to play. With crowd-funding websites becoming so popular, it’s obvious that people are invested in ideas, that they’re willing to throw down real, physical money to support these ideas from all around the world.

The real future of smart watches is not known, and wether or not we see one that’s fitted to our thumbs can’t be assured, but this we know: technology is an unstoppable machine of ideas, and anyone in the world can now present it on a platform that is popular and trending now. Big corporations are bringing out products that may sell well and take over the stock market, but it’s smaller ideas that inspire a big difference.

What #Avatar2 has in store for us and #tech - http://clapway.com/2015/07/19/avatar-2-the-new-technology-invented-for-its-creation-223/

Our favorite blue-alien-jungle-warriors are returning for the much anticipated sequel to the most successful movie ever made, set to release for the holiday season in 2017. Fans of the immersive and futuristic sci-fi epic—made possible by equally as innovative and creative technology designed specifically for the film’s creation—have been biting their nails for roughly six years in anticipation of the long-awaited Avatar 2, with little to no news as to how its production is going.

SO WHY IS AVATAR 2 TAKING SO LONG?

James Cameron has recently shed some light as to why so many long delays are holding back the movie from being produced. The first obstacle should come as no surprise to fans familiar with Cameron’s trademark innovativity—the technology required for its production is still being developed! This is similar to the original Avatar’s production in the early 90’s, when James delayed production for nearly eight years, until Weta Digital—a special effects company based in New Zealand—created the technology necessary to capture his vision. The result of all that waiting? The nomination for nine Academy Awards, and the winner of Best Art Direction, Best Cinematography, and Best Visual Effects.

WHAT WILL NEW TECHNOLOGY ADD TO THE FILM?

Cameron is keeping his lips pretty tightly sealed in regards to just what his new technology will bring to the table in Avatar 2, but he did enjoy teasing us with a few key details: the new devices in development will help him film with motion-capture underwater—a feat that has yet to be accomplished. Additionally, Cameron expects there to be improved facial expressions, with the inclusion of updated motion-capture technology. Lastly, a new system for lighting is said to be in development, with the ability to light up large parts of Pandora’s jungle in ways that it couldn’t before.

BUT IT’S JUST SO FAR AWAY!

The production of Avatar 2 began in 2014, and is already set to release in just two short years—a blink of an eye for Cameron, who is already writing and directing for the upcoming “Star Wars: The Force Awakens,” as well as writing for Avatars 3 and 4! If we’ve learned anything from his previous work, it’s that we can trust our favorite film franchises in his hands, and that with Cameron’s eye for innovation and knack for creating new technology, they will always be worth the wait.

The future of our buttons! - http://clapway.com/2015/06/28/smart-buttons-made-in-spain-new-addition-to-the-internet-of-things-234/

Spanish Telefónica has launched a new line of ‘smart buttons’ that are fully functional without other sources of connectivity.

Apparently tapping screens is becoming too laborious for the human race, so companies are coming up with tactile buttons to make everyday activities even easier.

SMART BUTTONS USING CELLULAR NETWORKS

Telefónica has teamed up with several international companies to create new smart buttons for immediate access to their services. What’s interesting is that these smart buttons use cellular networks, not home WiFi, and thus could be placed anywhere in a city or even country.

The devices will eventually be offered on a white-label basis to allow different companies to tailor–make the smart buttons according to their specific needs.

PAST PRESENT AND FUTURE

Telefónica first introduced its smart buttons last November, when it started collaborating with Spanish restaurant chain Telepizza. The Click&Pizza service, gave customers the ability to order their favorite pizza at the push of a button.

Shipping company SEUR is now using the button to enable the automatic generation and sending of a package collection order. It will be making these available for customers that use standard services and frequent collection requests.

Similarly, the cab company Cabify will enable its customers to choose the vehicle type and receive details of the car and driver assigned to collect them just by pushing this smart button. If a global SIM is inserted, this new technology could work anywhere in the world, which is why Cabify has plans to expand the service across the Latin American countries in which it operates, including Chile, Mexico and Peru.

Telefónica recently teamed up with the Spanish R&D division of Samsung Electronics to generate innovative technologies.

THE NEW ADDITION TO THE “INTERNET OF THING”

Several other smart buttons initiatives have flooded the market in recent months following Amazon’s Dash Button, used for one-click ordering consumables such as washing powder and printer ink.

Smart buttons represent the newest product added to “The Internet of Things,” which is used to describe approaches, software architectural styles and programming patterns that connect everyday, real-world objects, to the web.
