Amazon"s New Technology Threatens eBay and Walmart - http://clapway.com/2016/01/19/new-amazon-technology-threatens-ebay-and-walmart-123/

Amazon is making homes smarter one update at a time. The company’s new restocking service is seriously threatening eBay and Walmart’s business. The new update lets Amazon replenish items for printers, washers or blood sugar meters automatically.

Amazon Dash Reorders Printer Ink, Detergent or Test Strips For You

Dash button owners with compatible Brother printers can now restock ink, toner or paper automatically. The printer will track its own usage stats and order more from Amazon when needed. This is some Smart House level stuff. Currently, 45 Brother printer models are compatible with the service. The company is planning on making even more.

GE will launch a washer that can restock its own detergent. The washer will have a special basin for detergent, which users fill. Once it’s running low, it will re-order more from the platform. In February, the Gmate SMART blood sugar meter will come with a function to reorder on test strips automatically.

Dash is Compatible with Brother, GE, Whirlpool and More

Whirlpool made an announcement at CES that its appliances will be compatible with Dash. Right now, one of their washers is connected to the replacement service. It will tell owners to restock when detergent levels are low.

Amazon is heading the move to automated shopping. These items are often forgotten on trips to the grocery store or the office supply store. Dash only launched in March of last year, and it’s already breaking ground. Dash is a tiny device that users can keep close by. It makes orders just by pressing down on its button. The button sends a wireless signal to the owner’s Amazon Prime account, and the items ordered are delivered within two days.

The E-Commerce Giant Will Soon Make eBay and Walmart Obsolete

The Dash itself can only be used by Prime members. The new service will be open to regular Amazon users. The company is expecting to bring in as many devices as possible to the new service. This includes Brita filters, pet food dispensers, coffee machines and soap dispensers. It’s a mutually beneficial profit for the companies making these electronics and Amazon. Apparently, all it takes is as little as 10 lines of code to make it happen!

Top Five Most Weird Things Sold on Amazon and Possibly on Ebay - http://clapway.com/2016/01/14/top-five-most-weird-things-sold-on-amazon-and-possibly-on-ebay/

Amazon is one of the largest companies in the world, but they sure do sell some weird items. Here are five of the weirdest items that can be found while searching Amazon, and maybe even Ebay.

There Are Five Most Weird Things Sold on Amazon and Possibly on Ebay:

WEIRD ITEM NUMBER 1: GLOW IN THE DARK TOILET PAPER

This item is actually quite brilliant. This would be extremely useful in case of a power outage. If you are in pitch blackness, you would need to see where your toilet paper is. This glow in the dark toilet paper would fix this problem, but would it leave radioactive residue on your bottom?

WEIRD ITEM NUMBER 2: A BOYFRIEND PILLOW

For every girl out there, or homosexual man, you can now buy a boyfriend! Amazon offers a pillow that simulates having a boyfriend. So, you get a new boyfriend without having to hear him snore!

WEIRD ITEM NUMBER 3: 1,500 LADYBUGS

You did not just read that wrong, Amazon actually offers a bag filled with 1,500 ladybugs. For whatever reason someone would actually want to buy them, they now can, and they might be able to find them on Ebay as well. The biggest question about this product is how on earth do they survive shipping? When you receive them, are half of them dead?

WEIRD ITEM NUMBER 4: HANDERPANTS

For those wondering what on earth handerpants are, do not worry they are probably not worth your time. These are literally underpants for your hands. You wear them like a pair of gloves, and they have the material of a pair of underwear. I do not even think Ebay wants any part of this!

WEIRD ITEM NUMBER 5: WOLF URINE

OK, now we are getting just plain ridiculous. Genuine wolf urine can actually be purchased from Amazon, and it can be used to scare off deer. This is a very interesting way to remove the deer from your property. I wonder if Ebay will see any of these crazy items in the future?

Amazon Echo Alexa is Coming For Apple Siri - http://clapway.com/2016/01/12/alexa-from-amazon-echo-is-coming-for-apple-siri-123/

After releasing the Echo, Amazon is releasing a second, cheaper generation called Amazon Fox, with an Alexa that could take Apple Siri out of the game. The mini-speaker will be the size of the average beer can, and it will be wireless.

Amazon Clapway

Amazon Brings Cloud-Based Services to the Mainstream

The Fox is expected to cost under $180, which is the current Echo price. Unlike the Echo, it will be battery operated. It will probably come with a docking station where it can re-charge. Alexa will not work automatically. Users will have to push a button to activate her, much like how Apple users activate Siri.

There’s a chance that Amazon will bring in an Alexa app that would allow users to activate her from a phone. This would get rid of the need of physically approaching the device to initiate communication.

The Amazon Speakers Go Bluetooth

This isn’t the only disadvantage that might come with the Amazon Fox. The Amazon Echo got a lot of positive reviews for its audio quality. A smaller device would mean some sacrifice for sound. There’s also a big possibility that the Fox will connect to everything via Bluetooth, which also makes compromises to audio quality.

However, Bluetooth makes usage very convenient. If the Fox manages to overpower the Echo in terms of lagging or glitching, it could sell well. We can even expect the Fox to be named Best Product of the Year for its functionality and price. A price tag for under $180 could put it on top of the Beats Pill.

The Best Selling Point for the Amazon Fox, Alexa

The voice-command feature for a speaker is a unique selling point. No other speaker on the market features this. The only thing that Amazon has to worry about is if the smaller size will take away from some of the Echo features that gave it such positive reviews. This is new territory for Amazon, but it can be easily dominated if they bring together the best of the Echo and bring in the best of Alexa to the smaller Fox.

Alexa vs. Apple Siri: Who is Better?

Siri was recently put into the new Apple TV OS, but it didn’t heed overly positive results. Hopefully, this will not be the case for Alexa. Virtual assistants are slowly taking over technology, and hopefully, Alexa will bring some humor and functionality to the innovation.

Google and Amazon Talk Drones, Will eBay and Facebook Join In? - http://clapway.com/2016/01/11/google-and-amazon-talk-drones-will-ebay-and-facebook-join-in-123/

Google and Amazon are in serious talks about commercial drone traffic with NASA and Intel. Soon enough, even eBay and Facebook may bring in drone delivery services. The talks have several goals. In short, the companies want to ease the process to having dedicated airspace for drone travel and to make a central control system that would regulate flight and travel.

Amazon Drone Clapway

Amazon and Google Project Wing Have Different Priorities When it Comes to Drone Deliveries

Google’s Project Wing is taking drone delivery services very seriously. Regulation is one of the most important aspects of developing this technology. Ideally, Google wants to design a system that would allow drones to state their location and destination. The system would log this information in and either allow, delay or deny take off. The drone would send a string of updates as it travels to keep its safety in check until it reached its destination. It can be assumed that a similar system will be implanted for the return flight.

In order for this to happen, commercial drone operators will have a whole step-by-step system to create. They would also need a fraction of airspace in every region where this service will be operating. Not only that, but they would also need a fail-safe procedure for when the drone is at a dead zone or one with very little connectivity. In the case of limited connectivity, weather or any other hazard, the drone has to be able to keep the system updated and carry out the delivery. Basically, Google wants a drone version of the air traffic control system used in commercial flying today. Except they’d like for the system to be as autonomous as possible.

Amazon and eBay Probably Have the Same Take on Drones

Amazon has a slightly different take on regulation. They aim for making the drones as smart as possible. Their focus is on in-flight sense and avoids mechanisms. Regardless of how efficient a control system is, it can’t account for balloons, birds, kites or dogs. The natural hazards are imminent. In other words, Amazon is looking for the right drone and Google is looking for the right system.

The rest of the basics are agreed on by both firms. The technology needs to be tested out for a long while until it reaches the level where it can be regulated. Because of this, nearly every company that wants to get involved in commercial drone usage are collaborating with NASA and the Federal Aviation Administration on the Unmanned Aircraft System Traffic Management project. This project seeks to secure a string of airspace that will allow for drone usage. The results of this project won’t be fully released until at least 2019, but we can see many changes before then.

eBay and Facebook Could Join In On the Talk

It is possible that companies like eBay will eventually join the ranks of these projects. Not only because it is relevant to eCommerce, but the technology might bring in many new users. Facebook may not offer services that use drones just yet, but judging at how they’re dipping toes onto every industry, they could. Drones are a powerful user magnet, so it’s possible eBay and Facebook worm themselves into the use of this technology.

Here"s Why Old People Should Use Amazon and Not eBay - http://clapway.com/2016/01/11/heres-why-old-people-should-use-amazon-and-not-ebay-123

Reports of a man in England that bought a car through eBay are going viral on the internet, specifically, because the car he paid for never came. This is not uncommon, but it’s outrageous that it is still happening today. Amazon is the better option after all.

eBay Clapway

English Man Buys Car for Around $7,500 And It Never Showed Up

In his report, the man from DP, North England, details his experience. The seller was contacted through the platform. After brief exchanges, the buyer received all of the car’s documents through e-mail, and they all seemed to be legitimate.

The money was stored in a ‘no access’ account until the purchase was finalized and made official. This was the last exchange between the buyer and the seller. The seller’s mobile and email account were shot off, and the car was never delivered. It might be fair to point out that the buyer is 57 years old and a regular eBay user.

Why Isn’t This Man Getting His Money Back?

The process that takes place after this sort of incident goes like this: eBay and whatever bank handled the payment take down the seller account. That’s pretty much all they can do. Transactions made outside of eBay cannot count as eBay transactions after all. This also includes any exchanges where sellers gave buyers account and transfer payment information through email.

eBay also does not offer protection on car sales. In this specific case, the incident was followed up by eBay and Barclays. By the time they got to the bottom of things, there were only about $110 in the account, which was returned to the buyer. The seller’s account has since been closed.

Is eBay Just Not for Old People? Is Amazon Safer

Connecting this kind of incident with age would make very little sense. There is something to be said about safety. The victim of this incident has said that he trusts no one after this happened to him, and it’s the kind of awareness everyone should have.

Regardless of age, this man, like many, just wasn’t careful enough. Something terrible had to happen before he could realize that the internet is as volatile as the physical world, or even more so. This man might be better off trying his luck with Amazon instead, which is a much more reliable eCommerce platform.

Amazon is Now Competing With Intel and Samsung - http://clapway.com/2016/01/07/amazon-is-now-competing-with-intel-and-samsug-123/

Amazon is now becoming a competitor to Samsung and Intel. The eCommerce giant is selling their own brand of ARM-based chips to manufacturers.

The eCommerce Giant Snagged Annapurna Labs for $350 Million

Annapurna Labs is a start-up founded in 2011, based in Israel. It was working on an ARM-based series of midrange networking chips. These were meant to transmit more data while consuming less power. At the time, Amazon was already in the works to move away from using Intel chips, even though they already had low power consuming in their ARM chips. If they found a way to make their own chips, they could end up saving quite a bit of cash.

Amazon Clapway

Alpine Semiconductor Chips Bring New Guns to the Market

Now it is a reality. The new line of chips are called Alpine, and the company is boasting that they will become the foundation for the next generation of digital services for the connected home. In short, Amazon will be selling these semiconductor chips to OEMs and related services. This could include Wi-Fi routers, streaming devices, home gateways and NAS devices.

Having to change hardware every time a tech gadget gets an upgrade is a drag. That’s why the Alpine will be selling incredibly well. Amazon’s platform will give original equipment manufacturers the ability to own a chip that allows them to design hardware that can give them fast connectivity to multiple devices and meet the growing pile of consumer demands. All of this without having to switch hardware or waiting for software updates.

The Scales Are Tilted to Their Advantage

Today, a lot of platfroms use 32-bit ARMv or 64-bit ARMv architectures. This is beneficial to the Alpine chips, because Amazon owns one of the best could computing platforms. Amazon Web Services will be getting deeper into the connected world with the introdcution of the Apline semiconductor chips.

Intel and Samsung Shouldn’t Be Too Worried

Intel and Samsung are the giants of the semiconductor market. ARM chips haven’t made much of an impact yet. But they should’t rest too easy either. Annapurna chips are already in use by relatively large companies like ASUS, Synology and Netgear. The partnership will be shipping out processors to other OEMs and service providers as of this week.

The South Korean technology juggernaut announced the Family Hub refrigerator, the new Gear 2 smartwatch in rose gold and platinum and a new series of ultra HD TVs.

Samsung Kicks Off 2016 With a Bang

The announcement of the Family Hub refrigerator got a lot of buzz because it is the first to feature a virtual grocery store. Not only that, but it can also post reminders for kids, set family photos and features a camera.

Samsung is planning to team up with two major US grocery stores. The way the system will work is through home delivery. What’s more, customers can make purchases through the fridge itself.

The Family Hub has a 21.5-inch screen with built in apps. These will be used for online grocery shopping. The camera on its side will give insight to customers that decide to go to the grocery store in person. This will prevent items from getting forgotten.

Is this The End of Amazon Fresh?

This is an amazing innovation. It’s no surprise that it comes out of Samsung, who has a huge knack for bringing totally fresh concepts to the table. Online grocery shopping might change completely, as well as home appliances.

Amazon could see a lot of changes in the near feature. Amazon Fresh is a relatively new platform, but it could definitely partner up with Samsung to bring in an even further enhanced grocery shopping experience.

The Future of Home Appliances and Electronics

Soon enough, home electronics and appliances might be fused. They already have many features in common. Samsung is just taking the next logical step. LG is another company that is also bringing some changes to home appliances. It recently released the TWIN Washer and Sidekick. It features a second slot for items that are easily forgotten.

Other major home appliances companies will start to introduce smart technology to their products. There’s no escaping the new era of technology and electronics. Samsung will probably be making headlines all year; this is only the beginning.

Amazon 3D Printers could be used to Print Legs - http://clapway.com/2016/01/04/amazon-3d-printers-could-be-used-to-print-legs/

3D printing may be the most interest technological invention that has ever occurred. It started out as fun and games, but the world is finding out that 3D printing is becoming much more than that. Just recently, there was a very inspirational story released on a dog who, with the greatness of 3D printing, can now walk and sit naturally.

Amazon 3d Printer Clapway

INSPIRING STORY ON HOW A DOG RECEIVED PRINTED LEGS

There was a story that was released on a dog named Derby. Derby was born without front paws or front legs. This dog was unable to sit and walk at a natural height. However, this all changed when one person decided to take a chance. Tara Anderson, from Paws and Peace, decided to adopt Derby and she changed the dogs life forever. Anderson works for a 3D printing company, and she decided to print legs and paws for Derby. Now, Derby can walk, sit, and finally feel like a dog!

AMAZON 3D PRINTERS COULD BRING MORE SMILES

This is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to 3D printing. There are many Amazon 3D printers that can be bought by companies and people, and they can make a difference as well. Anything that you can imagine can be 3D printed. This story of Derby was truly inspirational, but 3D printing can just be about fun as well. 3D printing will cater to the people who have a huge imagination. New toys for kids can be made and even furniture could be created. This can all be done by finding and purchasing Amazon 3D printers.

AMAZON 3D PRINTERS COULD ALSO SAVE LIVES

As mentioned earlier, 3D printing can be more than just fun and games. 3D printing can be used to make organs and living tissues as well. This is obviously a complex process, but it can be done. This would allow more people to be able to receive transplants. This idea of printing organs and tissues has been discussed for quite a while now.

3D PRINTING IS THE FUTURE

3D printing really opens up the world for endless possibilities. It allowed a dog to be able to finally walk normally and actually feel useful. Now, that might not sound that great, but just think that 3D printing could help thousands more. It is indeed the future of printing.

Amazon has recently revealed more of their seemingly endless deals. These latest deals prove that this Christmas, there is not a better time to get your hands on a smartwatch. They revealed that they are slashing the prices of the Samsung Gear S2 smartwatch, the Apple Watch smartwatch, and the Moto 360 smartwatch. This announcement is just in time for Christmas.

Christmas Deal Clapway

AMAZON CHRISTMAS DEALS: SAMSUNG GEAR S2

The first deal that Amazon announced was for the Samsung Gear S2 smartwatch. This is a very recent smartwatch as it was released back in October. The original price for the Samsung Gear S2 on Amazon is $299.99. However, they are now offering this smartwatch for only $249.99. This is available for both the black and gray colors of this watch. Best Buy has a very similar deal for this smartwatch as well. However, Amazon is also offering the Samsung Gear S2 Classic for $299. This is also $50 off of the original price.

AMAZON CHRISTMAS DEALS: APPLE WATCH

The next deal that they are offering is for the Apple Watch. This deal, however, needs to be evaluated more than you think. The original price for the Apple Watch on Amazon is $408.86. The discount price for this smartwatch is $356. So, you save over $50 on this watch. This sounds good, right? However, when it is revealed that the retail price of the Apple Watch is seven dollars cheaper than the discount price on Amazon, it becomes less appealing.

AMAZON CHRISTMAS DEALS: MOTO 360

The last deal that Amazon is offering for smartwatches is for the Moto 360. This is a smartwatch that was created by Motorola for Android. The original price for the Moto 360 on their website is $249.99. However, the new discounted price for the Moto 360 is $164.85. This means that you would save about $85 with this deal. It is a full 34 percent off of its original price. This might just be the best deal out of all of the smartwatch deals this Christmas.

AMAZON HAS OTHER GREAT CHRISTMAS DEALS

Amazon also announced another deal right before Christmas. They are offering a discount on the Microsoft Band. This is actually a smart band that has smartwatch features installed. The original price for the Microsoft Band on their website is $199.99. However, now, with this discounted price, it can be purchased for $149. Not only this, but there are also hundred of other deals on their website. Just cruise around their website and you are sure to find all of the top-of-the-line deals for Christmas.

Microsoft Band Clapway

THE MOTO 360 IS THE BEST OUT OF ALL THE AMAZON DEALS

As mentioned earlier, the deal for the Moto 360 is the best out of the three. Whether or not you think the Moto 360, Apple Watch, or Samsung Gear S2 is the better smartwatch is irrelevant. The reason why this is the best deal is because it has the biggest discount. It is really that simple of a conclusion. So, the time to get a smartwatch could not be any better. This Christmas, make sure to get your Apple Watch, Samsung Gear S2, or Moto 360. There is no time to waste because Christmas is almost here!

Considering that of a feasible data leakage, e-commerce giant Amazon has actually notified some clients that it is changing their passwords. The problem comes at an unfavorable time for the company as expectancy grows for the Black Friday specials.

Fear Not, The Company is Only Keeping Us Safe

A series of users had reportedly received notification emails telling them that their passwords had been reset. The company had apparently recently discovered that their Amazon.com passwords may have been incorrectly kept on your gadget or sent to Amazon in a way that might possibly expose it to a third party. As a way to avoid this, the company has reset those passwords and sent customers a short-term password that they may change after logging in.

Safety is Getting Better

There were no incidents reported that prompted the action, according to Amazon’s statement.  The notice also landed in customer accounts on Amazon.com, a confirmation that the message did come from the store and was not a sign of spoofing. Previously this month, the company began offering two-step confirmation on user accounts. This means that in order to access an account, the site needs a second kind of approval, generally a code texted to a mobile phone, to log in. This gives the user even further security and avoids 3rd party breaches or any kind of privacy infringement to user accounts.

Will this Affect Black Friday Sales?

This instance will likely not affect their Black Friday/Cyber Monday events, seeing as the reset process is simple. Amazon customers can continue to enjoy a safe shopping environment with added security to their accounts.

Amazon’s Echo is Heading to Over 3,000 Retail Stores in the U.S. - http://clapway.com/2015/11/12/amazons-echo-is-heading-to-over-3000-retail-stores-in-the-u-s-123/

Amazon has finally decided to send their Echo smart speaker on the shelves of thousands of retail stores. Before this, the only way to purchase the Amazon Echo was on their website. However, Amazon has now announced the Echo will be sold at over 3,000 retail stores including: Brookstone, Fry’s, Home Depot, PC Richard & Son, RadioShack, Sears, and Staples. The timing of this decision could not have been more perfect as the holiday season is alive and well and about ready to hit its peak.

Amazon - Clapway
amazon.com

WHAT IS AN ECHO SMART SPEAKER?

The Amazon Echo is certainly more than just a speaker. Per various sources, the it is a 9.25-inch tall cylinder speaker with a seven piece microphone array that responds to the default name Alexa. Alexa reportedly allows users to use voice interaction with this speaker and this allows the device to do some amazing things. The Echo can reportedly be used for music playback, streaming podcasts, playing audiobooks, making to-do lists, providing weather for the day, setting alarms, and also receiving other real time information. This device can also reportedly control other smart devices. As can be seen, this device has a lot of cool and convenient elements. According to Amazon’s website, the Echo costs $180, but with Black Friday coming up it may cost less in retail stores. However, as of right now Amazon has not commented on whether or not it will be cheaper than its online price.

This is an absolutely awesome decision by Amazon to send their Echo to retail stores because many people do not shop online and will only buy it if it is sold at stores. Then considering that Amazon decided to release the Echo in November, the decision becomes even more genius. The Echo smart speaker seems to be an awesome device, but looks can always be deceiving. I myself have never used an Echo speaker, but listening to all the features that it has makes it very tempting. It seems like Amazon is wanting to make their Echo speaker a massive hit this holiday season with this decision. The Echo speaker could indeed be a hot commodity in the coming months and customers will need to be on the lookout because it may be announced with a discount in the future.

YouTube Red Could Ruin YouTube - http://clapway.com/2015/11/06/youtube-red-could-ruin-youtube123/

Google recently unveiled YouTube Red, a $10 per month subscription for ad-free high quality YouTube content. This has garnered mixed response from the media and YouTube’s audience, and it’s not certain if this will be a victory for YouTube or a step in a very bad direction.

There is a wealth of good content on YouTube, and YouTube Red hopes to take up the really popular vloggers, like RayWilliamJohnson, Lilly Singh aka Superwoman or Smosh, and bring them to a platform where they can benefit from the site and become more exclusive. But the truth is there is also a wealth of poor content on YouTube, so a fee of $10 is a little steep to just visit the handful of people that bring in high-quality content.

Youtube Red - Clapway

Another point of argument is that this is a natural shift, of the same kind as Spotify’s paid subscription, Netflix, Amazon Prime and even Apple Music. While it is true that customers today are more than willing to pay for a subscription for better content, but this move goes against the very principle of YouTube, which began as a way to connect people through a free platform. Users are accustomed to YouTube being free, so it’s not certain whether or not they’ll embrace YouTube Red.

This takes me back to what it will mean for YouTube, with my hunch being that Red will attract a specific type of content creator. One of the big areas for expansion is within what I like to think of as the “middle”, so indie film producers and up-and-coming vloggers that create high-quality content, but are struggling to put their heads above the parapet and make money in a sea of competition.

YouTube Red is likely to attract the attention of high-class vloggers and people to make high quality content and take advantage of YouTube Red benefits. Its success depends on how it will bridge the gaps, and whether or not it’ll succeed in doing so will tell what’s next for YouTube. It’s a definite possibility that like Netflix and Amazon, it will start to produce its own original content, and if it succeeds, other competitors like Google will naturally follow along.

Buyable Pins will Make Pinterest More Competitive - http://clapway.com/2015/11/04/buyable-pins-available-for-android123/

Pinterest’s Buyable Pins, previously only available for iPhone, have just come to Android. This tool turns Pinterest into an online shopping platform, incorporating a buy button onto all posts for suppliers to submit products and customers pin and purchase them.

Pinterest users can put in their credit card info and address and purchase any posts with the buy button, which is placed under the Rich Pins feature with more information, and the product can be delivered directly to their door just by the tap of a button.

Buyable Pins

In addition to Buyable Pins, Pinterest is also rolling out the Pinterest Shop, a collection of trending products that users can buy under categories like sweaters, shirts, leather leggings and blanket scarves. It follows the app’s trends and further entices users to follow them and hopefully buy a few things.

Buyable Pins will also make Pinterest more competitive against monsters like Amazon and Etsy, though with a different approach. Amazon tackles a more general audience, and Etsy is a bit narrower, but Pinterest is even smaller still. Pinterest currently ranks #21 on the App Store Top Charts, coincidentally right ahead of the Amazon apps, and this development will only make it go ahead in the mobile shop app game.

Walmart Tests Delivery Drones - http://clapway.com/2015/10/27/walmart-tests-delivery-drones/

Walmart is planning to do something extraordinary as they are going to begin to fly drones to assist them in making home deliveries, making pick-ups, and various warehouse tasks. So the question begs, will this lead to anything and what exactly could these drones become?

The Details

It has been reported that Walmart has indeed started using these drones to do services indoors. Walmart has reported that they have been using these drones to drop off products in Walmart car parks for customers to collect and they have also been used to inspect digital tags on trucks at Walmart warehouses to in order to check what the trucks contain.

Walmart also has reported that direct deliveries to customers homes could potentially be attempted once the permissions of the residents of the flight path have been granted. Also, Walmart’s application might suggest that they dispatch the drones from trucks in the area and not directly from distribution centers. Walmart is also not the only company to work with delivery drones and the most notable is Amazon. Amazon is one of Walmart’s biggest competitors and Amazon previously using these drones might have influenced Walmart’s decision to test delivery drones.

The Unique Possibilities that Await

Walmart is extremely excited about this opportunity and some of their personnel have spoken out on the possibilities that await. Walmart spokesman Dan Toporek stated that drones have a lot of potential to connect our stores, distribution centers, fulfillment centers and transportation fleets. Toporek went on to say how there is a Walmart within five miles of 70% of the US population, which is an absolutely unbelievable statistic, and this would create some amazing possibilities for serving customers with these drones. Andrew Milroy, an analyst at Frost & Sullivan, mentioned how he sees that Walmart is trying to compete with Amazon with this ordeal.

Milroy stated that this alone shows that Walmart is competing head-to-head with Amazon, looking for ways to supply chains more efficiently and ways of improving customer service. This revelation has a seemingly endless ceiling and could propel Walmart to another atmosphere of success. Not only for Walmart, but for any other companies who decide to try delivery drones. Who knows, this could eventually end up being one of the most reliable devices in the retail business world.

Amazon is Testing Restaurant Delivery Service #Amazon #AmazonPrime #GrubHub - http://clapway.com/2015/08/26/amazon-prime-restaurant-delivery-service123/

Prime Now isn’t the only thing Amazon is cooking up. Some of the guys over at GeekWire are reporting that the Prime Now drivers they’ve seen zipping around Seattle might also be picking up restaurant orders for Amazon employees–a new venture Amazon appears to be testing in the company’s hometown.

Tell Tale Signs

Amazon has been known to test several various experiments in the company’s hometown of Seattle, WA., but even Seattle natives will be disappointed to find that the company is only testing this service with its employees at the moment. GeekWire reached out to some of the Prime Now deliveries drivers that they’ve seen around town, and they confirmed that Amazon has given them instructions on exactly how to make a restaurant pickup from participating restaurants.

Check out more news about Amazon here!

This Isn’t Amazon’s First Rodeo

Amazon isn’t running completely blind with this new initiative, however. The company has actually done a lot of experimenting in the restaurant delivery business. The Amazon Local app allowed Seattle natives to order carryout, although Amazon wouldn’t directly send its drivers to go out and deliver the food to users.

Another Amazon app, AmazonFresh, is a grocery delivery service that allowed users to order pre-made meals that could be delivered to them, and then heated up to eat. There is even another project in New York City that lets users order meals from a few participating restaurants and bakeries.

Rough Competition

Unfortunately for Amazon, there is plenty of competition when it comes to food delivery. GeekWire mentioned Peach and Grubhub, in particular, as being two prominent delivery services just in Seattle alone. So, it will be interesting to see how the e-commerce giant can compete in a world that is already pretty well established.

GeekWire tried to reach out to one of the participating Prime Now delivery restaurants to get some more information on how exactly the process worked. The employees of the restaurant, however, couldn’t really give a direct answer. According to them, the project was so new that they had only handled one order prior, and they weren’t entirely sure what the process was themselves.

Like most Amazon dreams, there is a high chance that people outside of Seattle will never see a service actually come to fruition, and most people might have better luck finding local food delivery services anyway. Either way, one-hour food deliveries from Amazon could be dangerous for weight scales everywhere.

Food delivery has its benefits, but it can’t be too good for the waistline. Luckily there’s Thin Ice:

%On Friday #SmartThings took to their blog to announce the company was teaming up with Amazon to provide home automation support to #Amazon Echo.% - http://clapway.com/2015/08/22/amazon-samsung-smartthings-amazon-echo-101/

On Friday SmartThings took to their blog to announce the company was teaming up with Amazon to provide home automation support to Amazon Echo.

SMARTTHINGS FEATURES

SmartThings is a home automation company that is owned by Samsung, and happens to be one of the more popular and user-friendly home automation platforms out there. The new Echo-friendly features allows users who use SmartThings devices like lights, switches, or anything else that might be plugged into a SmartThings powerstrip to be voice compatible with Amazon Echo.

That last part is what makes this partnership interesting. SmartThings is touted for its cross-platform support, which blows the doors wide open for other devices. Plug something that isn’t natively compatible with Amazon Echo into a SmartThings plug-in or powerstrip and suddenly it works.

CHECK OUT MORE NEWS ABOUT AMAZON HERE!

SmartThings says that this new Amazon Echo compatibility will work for both their upcoming hub and their current hub. Pairing the two devices together is relatively easy, too. You’ll use Amazon Echo’s Device Links option in the Echo app to connect your SmartThings account. After that you can just choose to pair devices from a list of your current devices. You’ll then have to ask Alexa to discover the new devices, but from there you can ask Alexa to turn on your lamp and it’ll do it.

AMAZON ECHO

For anyone less familiar with Amazon Echo, don’t worry. It’s actually one of the company’s newest devices. It debuted in June, but was limited to Amazon Prime subscribers who were invited to purchase the device. The device, which retails for $179, connects to your home’s Wi-Fi and has an always-on mic. From there, you simply ask the Amazon Echo how the weather is, a question to ask Google, or ask it to add something to your Amazon shopping list. Just be sure you address it by “Alexa” first.

AVAILABLE NOW

Current SmartThings hub owners should already have Echo-support, which started on Friday. User can take a look at their more detailed setup instructions here. For users who are waiting on the newest SmartThings hub, it can be pre-ordered on their site for $99. Amazon Echo users interested in home automation should definitely give SmartThings a look over.

Amazon has launched a new music streaming app as a part of Prime service, with more than a million songs available to users.

PRIME MUSIC WENT LINE IN THE UNITED KINGDOM THIS MORNING

The £79 yearly plan that gives users free same day shipping from the e-commerce giant, as well as Prime Instant Video, full access to Amazon’s existing TV and film streaming service, along with other benefits.

AMAZON MUSIC WILL HAVE OVER A MILLION SONGS

The app will enable users to stream over a million songs at no extra cost to the user, but it also allows them to combine them with other digital tracks that they have purchased from Amazon in the past.

This streaming service will appear within the current Amazon Music app, which is free to download. The managing director at Amazon UK, Christopher North, said that the UK costumers loved it when they added the unlimited photo storage and Prime Instant Video into Prime last year. This was all in addition to the unlimited one-day delivery items of millions of items, as well as access to over 800,000 Kindle titles that can be borrowed.

AMAZON SAYS THAT THIS IS JUST THE BEGINNING

They said in many press releases that they were just getting started on making a lot of programs and promotions and the Prime Music is just the beginning. There are more than a million songs from a plethora of best-selling artists plus over a hundred Prime Playlists that are hand-build by their team of music experts. This is all at no cost to the customer.

This announcement comes jut three weeks after Apple launched its own music streaming service, Apple Music, to compete with Spotify. However, Amazon says that they are not looking to compete with Apple Music, and pointed out that Prime membership contains a series of services that benefit users with Prime Music being just one component.
