Apple has just made a post announcing that they will shut down Beats Music on November 30. After that date, the company clarified that all subscriptions will be cancelled, but that users will have a chance to transfer their music onto Apple Music, which is clearly the better streaming service.

Beats Music Lost All Wonder After 18 Months

The funny thing is, it’s only been eighteen months since Apple acquired Beats Music. Clearly, Apple Music had a much better development and outreach, having just become available for Android. All Beats Music have the option to use Apple Music’s migration tool to transfer all music before it is shut own.

This notice comes as no surprise. The moment Apple Music went live this past June, Beats Music stopped getting new subscribers; Apple has given a much greater amount of support to the newer music streaming option.

Apple advertised Apple Music even on the notice of Beats Music shutting down, reminding users that Apple Music gives users recommendations, global radio around the clock courtesy of Beats 1, and the latest out of their favorite artists.

$3 Billion Wasted?

Apple bought Beats in May of 2014 for $3 billion, which included Beats Music, the Beats headphone and speaker line as well as the company’s executives. Though Beats Music is shutting down, the headphones and speaker line is still available for purchase.

Ben Harris and Eric Ely, makers of the GoGlove, are back at it again. This time, they’ve revamped “The Ultimate Activity Accessory” to include several new, innovative features, perfect for music lovers, every day athletes, and adventure seekers all around the world.

The nifty device essentially acts as a wireless Bluetooth controller that allows you to control the music playback features on your phone without having to dig through your pockets to find it. When he approached his cousin Eric with his idea for the GoGlove, the duo set out to bring the project to life.

To use the device and trigger an action on your phone (change the song, play, pause, etc.), all you have to do is press the correct finger to your thumb – the sensors placed in your fingertips will do the rest. GoGlove’s new and free mobile application will also allow you to customize the action for each finger as you go. Wear it as is or even under another pair of gloves. Don’t worry, the GoGlove won’t lose functionality thanks to Harris and Ely’s patented AirTap technology.

But the capabilities of the GoGlove go way beyond music. Any physical activity can be enhanced with the gadget – whether you’re a biker, runner, or skier, like Harris. Due to its open source code, for example, it’s possible for the GoGlove to work with your other apps on your phone, including Pandora, Spotify, Songza, etc.

Harris and Ely have also redesigned the module, so that the GoGlove can be used all-year round as a stand-alone phone remote. Clip the device to your shirt or fasten it to a key chain for seamless control of your favorite devices, such as your phone camera or your GoPro.

Be in full control at all times, whether you’re on or off a mountain. As their slogan goes, “Life has a soundtrack.” GoGlove simply lets you “control yours.”

Amazon has launched a new music streaming app as a part of Prime service, with more than a million songs available to users.

PRIME MUSIC WENT LINE IN THE UNITED KINGDOM THIS MORNING

Prime Music has gone live in the UK this morning, and comes as a part of Amazon Prime membership. The £79 yearly plan that gives users free same day shipping from the e-commerce giant, as well as Prime Instant Video, full access to Amazon’s existing TV and film streaming service, along with other benefits.

The United States based company launched the music service in America last year, and now it has used its database of the users in the United Kingdom’s buying habits to rebuild the app tailored for the customers overseas.

AMAZON MUSIC WILL HAVE OVER A MILLION SONGS

The app will enable users to stream over a million songs at no extra cost to the user, but it also allows them to combine them with other digital tracks that they have purchased from Amazon in the past.

This streaming service will appear within the current Amazon Music app, which is free to download. The managing director at Amazon UK, Christopher North, said that the UK costumers loved it when they added the unlimited photo storage and Prime Instant Video into Prime last year. This was all in addition to the unlimited one-day delivery items of millions of items, as well as access to over 800,000 Kindle titles that can be borrowed.

AMAZON SAYS THAT THIS IS JUST THE BEGINNING

They said in many press releases that they were just getting started on making a lot of programs and promotions and the Prime Music is just the beginning. There are more than a million songs from a plethora of best-selling artists plus over a hundred Prime Playlists that are hand-build by their team of music experts. This is all at no cost to the customer.

This announcement comes jut three weeks after Apple launched its own music streaming service, Apple Music, to compete with Spotify. However, Amazon says that they are not looking to compete with Apple Music, and pointed out that Prime membership contains a series of services that benefit users with Prime Music being just one component.

Yahoo has launched its new messaging app Livetext but it is currently available only in Hong Kong. Yahoo wrote that the app represents the most human-friendly way to have real conversations and interactions. “The advent of smartphones led a shift towards convenience and speed. We have gone from communicating primarily with our voices to using our fingers to text on glass,” Yahoo wrote.

Going back to the basics

There is something that differentiates Livetext from its contemporaries. The app is basically “live video texting, without sound”. While it is a bit strange, the idea here is to allow users to see each other in real-time as they text each other. Yahoo reportedly removed audio from the equation, claiming “it’s rarely convenient in today’s fast-paced world”.

“From courier mail, to the telephone, to text messaging — as humans, we have always searched for new, more convenient and more inventive ways to connect with others. These interactions form the foundation of our identity and sense of the world,” Yahoo wrote. Well, this is the company’s innovative and definitely original contribution to the tech world.

Text and Live Videos can be used simultaneously

According to Yahoo, the text and video combo turns the app into a creative tool transforming simple conversations into fun experiences. For instance you can text a friend no matter where you are and share a face or “a glimpse of the world around you.”

Livetext uses your mobile device’s WiFi or data connection instead, to start exclusive, one-on-one conversations. As it not designed for group messaging, tête-à-têtes will be more ‘intimate’ and possibly straight forward.

The LiveText ID, will help users to add contacts and find friends on the address book.

I love new apps. I am constantly on my phone, like nearly every other member of my generation, and am intrigued by all the new apps that released. You can find me on all of the social media sharing apps, and on the news apps, as I like to stay current on what’s happening in the world today. You would also be right to assume that I watch a decent amount of hilarious videos via Vine or YouTube daily.

In an effort to keep up with the trending apps this week, I have a compiled a list of the most downloaded apps this week:

1. Showtime

Another score for the cord cutting generation! That’s right, you can now watch your favorite Showtime programs right from your phone without a cable subscription, which means you can catch up on Masters of Sex, Shameless, and all your other favorites. This is great for the commuter looking for entertainment on the bus or subway to and from work. It’s also great to have in the event of a family emergency (the emergency being that you need a minute away from your family). Once again, this app does not require you to have a cable subscription, however, it does require a monthly charge of only $11.00.

2. Streaks

Streaks is the most downloaded app in the productivity category this week. Its goal is to aid you in creating a streak of healthy habits, hence the name. You can log various activities that you do daily, such as walking, reading, healthy eating, and more. With a 4.5-star-rating, this app is sure to help you stay on the healthy path you’ve worked so vigorously to get on.

3. Fragment

This 5 star photo effects app is quickly grabbing people’s attention with its unique picture effects. Unlike Instagram and other popular photo apps, this most downloaded photo app offers shapes and pattern effects that transform your pictures into Picasso-Esq works of art.

4. HeyLets

This social city guide app is making its way to the top of the most downloaded app list this week. This app will give you recommendations on what to do given your location based on your interests. You can book appointments, make reservations and more with this unique adventure-sharing app.

5. Stayful

Stayful is another travel app that is trending this week. This app is your personal travel agent. It finds and compares hotel rates for you and locks in the great deal for your stay. It picks hotels for you based on your budget and location interests. I know I am grateful for letting someone else organize the travel plans!

I’ve downloaded each of these apps and am incredibly excited to use them! Especially Streaks, since I could definitely use the help in creating healthier habits. These 5-cup-of-coffee days probably aren’t too kind on my kidneys. I hope you gain some use out of these apps as well, and be sure to check back next week for a new list of apps!
