Microsoft Comes for Apple with New Word Flow Keyboard - http://clapway.com/2016/01/18/microsoft-comes-for-apple-with-new-word-flow-keyboard-123/

Standard issue keyboards on smartphones are not for everyone. Microsoft is bringing in an option for Apple and Android devices with the new Word Flow Keyboard.

Google Play Store and Apple App Store Now Feature Microsoft Keyboard

Microsoft has released a default virtual keyboard, on par with ‘Swype’ and ‘Fleksy’. The keypad software, which will be available for Android and iOS. The Word Flow keyboard is currently in beta after certain users were invited to join via email.

Word Flow Keyboard Has a Guinness World Record

Actually, the Word Flow keyboard has been praised in the Windows Phone. It even has the Guinness World Record for ‘fastest texting’. Microsoft is planning to roll out the keyboard to iOS first. The keyboard features shape writing, which enables users to write text quickly and without having to lift their fingers from the screen. This gave the Word Flow keyboard much of its acclaim. The default iOS keyboard doesn’t feature Swype-style typing.

This is a clear sign that Microsoft wants to expand as a software services company. The tech giant started out by launching Cortana, the Windows virtual assistant, on iOS and Android in 2015. Outlook is also available on both mobile platforms. The most popular of Microsoft’s software babies is probably Skype, which has been available for Android and iOS for a long time.

Will the Keyboard App Trend Stick with Apple?

It’s yet to be seen if there’s any space for Microsoft in the world of software services. There could be some people that are dissatisfied with the iOS or Android keyboards, but it’s not a popular belief. Bringing in Windows 10 apps to Android and iOS can only be beneficial, especially for businesses who use Windows platforms.

Apple is a more far-fetched target. It looks like Microsoft has the Apple default keyboard as their main contender, but it’s not likely that it’ll stick. Keyboard apps are more popular with Android, so the new keyboard might become popular there. There haven’t been details shared on when the keyboard will launch. According to analysts, it’s likely that the app will come out within the next few months.

Blackberry is Lying About Security, Are Apple and Android? - http://clapway.com/2016/01/12/blackberry-is-lying-about-security-are-apple-and-android-123/

Blackberry’s major selling point is that their devices and software is safer than all others. There’s a chance that they’re lying, and Apple and Android could be, too. The police in the Netherlands have gotten their hands on some encrypted emails in extra-secure PGP Blackberry phones, and their security and privacy policies are under question.

Apple Security Clapway

Blackberry Isn’t As Safe As They Want You to Believe

The findings were made by the Netherlands Forensic Institute. They claim to have gotten their hands on emails from a Blackberry smartphone that had been especially personalized to be extra safe through the use of PGP encryption. According to reports, they were able to access the data.

What Is PGP?

PGP stands for Pretty Good Privacy. The program boosts any device’s security and offers encryption and decryption services. This adds some more safety to emails, files and text messages. PGP Blackberry phones are called more secure and sold by online vendors for people who want their emails to be kept safe.

The NFI has not revealed what methods were used to crack the codes, but sources have revealed that the forensics program was developed by private firm CelleBrite.

According to the Canadian company, the only way to crack one of their phones is if the hacker himself has his hands on the device. The Dutch police may just have disproved that statement. Just recently, Blackberry was forced to pull out of Pakistan due to threats from the government to allow them backdoor access to user data. As of July 2015, Blackberry is no longer active in the country.

Blackberry Has Been Busted, But What About Android and Apple?

Apple has been deemed perfectly safe by their users. Although their devices aren’t foolproof, they’re decently safe. Android has gotten mildly average rep for their security since their operations are so open. Many have called their systems vulnerable. Neither company has denied or accepted claims about security.

However, there are competitions designed for hackers to hack into iPhones. It’s an important event because the device is pretty difficult to break into, especially in the latest iOS 9. That being said, you can guess it’s a good bet to take Apple’s word when it comes to device safety. With Blackberry, apparently, not so much.

Facebook App Store Taunts iTunes App Store and Google Play Store - http://clapway.com/2016/01/07/facebook-app-store-taunts-app-store-and-google-play-store-123/

Apple, Google and Microsoft all have their own stores, and it looks like Facebook is feeling a little left out. The company is in the works to lanunch its own app store. This is possibly in case that its apps get kicked out of the Google Play Store or the stores of all other competition.

2. Amazon Online Store Clapway

A Facebook App Store is A Predictable Step

The company has been in vicious competition with Google in just about every way. In the event of expulsion from Google’s Play Store, they have some backup. This could be tied to the allegations claiming that Facebook has been conducting ‘contingency’ tests on their Android users. The goal was to make sure that the Facebook apps are operable on Android devices even if users don’t get them from the Google Play Store. In fact, the company has designed a way for users to get app updates and push notifications without going through the Google Play Store.

The Social Network Has Been Accused of Conducting Unethical Android Tests

These allegations are pretty strong. Google and Facebook have a decent enough relationship as things stand, so the Facebook apps will not be kicked out of the Google Play Store for now. New rumors claim that Mark Zuckerberg’s social media giant has been tinkering with its Android users for some time, which may have caused a strain among the two companies.

Specifically, Facebook was accused of making the Android Facebook app unavailable for users in an undisclosed location. They were redirected to a web link to download the Android app instead of the platform instead. Allegedly, users would not stop trying to open the app, and some resorted to accessing the social networking site through a mobile web browser.

If Push Comes to Shove, The Social Network Has A Lot of Options

In the case that the company’s apps do get kicked out of the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store, it could launch an app on the Oculus VR app store. They could even extend the store so that it becomes an overarching platform. This would also support Facebook’s other popular apps: WhatsApp, Instagram and Messenger.

If that’s not feasable, Facebook can join hands with original equipment manufacturers to have the Facebook app preloaded on certain devices. The Oculus VR app store is actually pre-installed on some Samsung phones. Whether or not the social media giant will resort to these measures is yet to be seen.

Facebook Messes With Android Users, But Not iOS - http://clapway.com/2016/01/06/facebook-messes-with-android-uses-but-not-ios-123/

The most widespread social network out there is facing some criticism because of a bug on its Android platform. Facebook is being accused of deliberately bugging the app on certain Android users just to test out how they would react. This isn’t the first time Facebook has faced this kind of issue, and it likely will not be the last.

Facebook Apple Clapway

Facebook Messes with Android Users for Emotional Experiment

The allegations claim that the platform made their app crash on purpose for some Android users. This was to test out if users would be discouraged from using the app at all. The apps were apparently crashing for a long period of time. According to an insider to the experiment, the results showed that users simply switched to the mobile web version of the social media network.

These Experiments Are Not Rare

The accusations are wild, but the actual details of the experiment are even wilder. Social media platforms are no stranger to these kinds of experiments. In fact, they depend on them in order to mold their interfaces and updates to user friendliness. In order to accomplish that, it must carry out a series of experiments.

The thing about this specific venture, though, is that testing for an emotional response might be above the social network’s ethical threshold. Last year, Facebook revealed that they’d conducted an experiment that studied ’emotional contagion’ on its users. This experiment involved filtering what users saw on their timelines to see if seeing sad or happy content made their posts sadder or happier.

The Truth is, Zuckerberg Crossed A Line

This clearly crosses some lines. Facebook has been making steady pushes to become fully integrated into modern life. It has been making many significant advances in regards to its makeup and their artificial intelligence. We can see this in big ways, in Facebook’s M and their Safety Check tool. It’s only natural that the social network receives backlash for trying to mess with user’s emotions.

Facebook Experiments on Users to Prepare for Google Attack

Google is dangerously close to dropping Facebook from the Google Play Store. These experiments are likely a way for the social network to see how well it can fare in case it is removed from platforms that belong to its competition. If Google takes out the Facebook app from its store, Facebook will lose a lot of traffic from Android OS devices.

It looks like they don’t have too much to worry about, though. If the results are true and users merely switched to the web version of the platform, they’ll be okay. That is unless Apple decides to drop the Facebook app from the App Store.

Facebook Experiments on Users to Prepare for Google Attack Clapway

No Tests Revealed on iOS Users Yet

Facebook has made no recent experiments on iOS phones. This is probably because it won’t risk Apple taking down their app from the App Store. iOS users probably make up most of Facebook’s mobile traffic in the US, and they won’t sacrifice that anytime soon.

An experiment on iOS users could turn out equally interesting results. It’s, at least, worth entertaining. Who knows, maybe Mark Zuckerberg will upgrade Free Basics and make a real phone with real internet access that doesn’t dictate how anyone should use technology.

Cut the Rope: Magic on Android is Another Psychedelic PacMan - http://clapway.com/2015/12/18/cut-the-rope-magic-android-another-psychedelic-pacman/

The Cut the Rope series has been added yet another game. The developer of the series, ZeptoLab, announced that they have released Cut the Rope: Magic for the Android. This logic-based puzzle game has received very good feedback in the past. However, this game, which features Om Nom who needs to be fed candy, can be thought of as a Psychedelic PacMan!

10. Game Clapway 1

CUT THE ROPE: MAGIC LAUNCHED ON ANDROID

This game will stay very true to the series. However, ZeptoLab did mention that this game will feature Om Nom being able to be turned into a variety of creatures. ZeptoLab mentioned how he can be turned into a mouse, a fish, a bird, or even a dinosaur. Not only that, but each one of these creatures will feature their own exclusive move set. Levels will need to be passed based on the creatures abilities. This game will also feature 100 levels, but there could end up being even more in the future. Lastly, this game is free of charge, but there are micro-transactions for in-game purchases.

WHAT IS CUT THE ROPE: MAGIC?

Cut the Rope: Magic, just like all of the others before it, is a physics-based puzzle game. The game requires users to feed the main character, Om Nom, the given candy to complete the level. The candy hangs from one or several ropes and users must find a way to get it down. Also, stars can be collected throughout each level which will affect your score. How fast you do the level can also have an affect on your overall score. Also, in-game purchases can be made to make the games easier.

THE RECEPTION OF CUT THE ROPE ON ANDROID

This series has been very well received on the Android. Many have commented and said this series has the awesome addictive feature just like Candy Crush. The great puzzles, cute personality, and perfect use of the touch controls were also reasons why Cut the Rope garnered such good reception. As a matter of fact, the first Cut the Rope game actually took home the Best Handheld Game of the year award in 2010. The Game Developers Choice Awards awarded the game that honor. The Android should see yet another version of this series receive critical acclaim.

CUT THE ROPE: MAGIC IS A PSYCHEDELIC PACMAN

A psychedelic is defined as a drug that produces hallucinations. Now, why do I say this game is a psychedelic PacMan? Well, first let me say that Om Nom is an eating machine gobbling up anything in his path. Sound familiar to anyone? However, while PacMan is gobbling up PAC-dots and ghosts, Om Nom is being changed into crazy creatures and devouring candy. Come on, you can not tell me that he is not a psychedelic PacMan.

EXPECT MORE GAMES LIKE CUT THE ROPE: MAGIC

This should be one of the many Cut the Rope games to be seen on the Android and other platforms. ZeptoLab decided to partner with Nazara to publish this game. Now, Nazara has exclusive rights to publish any of the Cut the Rope games. The company then released a statement that said they were going to massively extend the game in India. They stated they will bring a lot more culture into the games puzzle scheme. This could lead to this series getting, even more, innovation and becoming, even more, popular. Cut the Rope: Magic should just be the start for more games in this series.

Microsoft To Serve Cortana For iOS 9.2 and Windows 10 - http://clapway.com/2015/12/09/microsoft-to-serve-cortana-for-ios-9-2-and-windows-10/

Microsoft has finally revealed that they are ready to release their Cortana App to the public. They have been beta testing this app for quite a while now. However, they announced that starting December 9th it will be available. It will be available for iPhone phones, Android phones, and the Windows 10 companion app.

CORTANA FOR IOS 9.2

CORTANA FOR IOS 9.2 AND WINDOWS 10 FINALLY LAUNCHES

There has been a lot of hype for Cortana. Cortana is a voice command device that acts as a virtual assistant to users. Microsoft has announced it is launching Cortana for iOS 9.2 as well. They say that not much new will come that was not in the beta version. Microsoft has also stated that there will be a little difference between the Android and Apple versions of Cortana.

They mention that Android users can use the Hey Cortana command. This command allows them to shout out commands that the user would like Cortana to do. Text updates can also be sent to users Windows 10 PC’s. This is where Apple users have the disadvantage. They state that the iOS is not open enough to have this happen. It will be interesting to see if Apple would ever decide to do that to give the users this advantage that Android has.

CORTANA FOR IOS 9.2 AND WINDOWS 10 ONLY AVAILABLE IN US AND CHINA

As of right now Microsoft has only stated that two countries will have access to Cortana. That is being the United States and China. They said that it will eventually make its way to other countries. However, they have given no word on when that could be. For now, people outside of the US and China will have to wait and see when they can get their hands on Cortana for iOS 9.2 and Windows 10, as well as Android.

Microsoft AI Will Beat Android, Facebook and Apple in 2016 - http://clapway.com/2015/12/08/microsoft-ai-will-beat-android-facebook-and-apple-in-2016123/

2016 will bring great advances for AI technology, and Microsoft may get ahead of the game against Apple, Android and Facebook throughout the next 12 months. Experts at Microsoft are expecting huge leaps that will put Project Oxford, Xiaoice and Cortana ahead of any other AI out there.

Microsoft AI

Computer-Based Thinking Will be Better than Ever

Throughout 2016, the relationship people have with their computers, phones and with other people. Microsoft is one of the companies diving head-first onto these advancements. Representatives of the company insist that they will bring significant changes to home and industry lives. Their machines will be more savvy, helping communication with the web and with each other more amusing and productive.

People will be more connected to their AI assistants, and will be able to communicate with them more seamlessly. Microsoft’s Xiaoice is expected to be particularly human-like, and analyst expects users to be able to develop professional relationships with their virtual assistants.

Next Year Will Also be the Year of the Stylus

Analysts and also expecting the stylus to be a widespread accessory across all computerized devices.  With the Apple Pencil already widespread through Apple’s iPad Pro, it’s likely that other companies adapt and adopt a sort of stylus for better-computerized navigation.

This analysis is awfully reminiscent to films like Her, where relationships with virtual assistants veer into the personal. This makes the advancements a bit of a double-edged sword. While these AIs will be able to make many tasks easier, it shouldn’t replace interpersonal relationships. It’s still too soon to say whether or not these virtual assistants will be as intelligent as analysts claim, but hopefully they make basic tasks in the home and office easier. Fiction has a funny way of becoming reality, and there’s no telling if virtual dating will become the trend of the late 2010s.

Android Loses the Battle with iPhone Once Again - http://clapway.com/2015/12/04/android-loses-battle-iphone/

The latest earnings have been revealed, and Apple gave Android some very bad news. Tim Cook, the chief executive of Apple, stated during their latest earnings call a very amazing statistic. Cook mentioned that 30 percent of the users from Android purchased Apple’s iPhones. Basically, 30 percent of their rivals customers switched over to them. That is how to devastate one of your rivals!

9. Android 3

ANDROID STARTING TO BOW TO APPLE

This statistic by Cook was actually backed up by the data from the Consumer Intelligence Research Partner. Android’s reality is that this is a trend that has been happening for a while now. The Consumer Intelligence Research Partner‘s data also pointed to 26 percent of the companies users switching to the iPhone 6S during its first month. The CIRP’s data also pointed to 12 percent of iPhone 6 buyers being from the company last year. The current trend is not going in Android’s way, and why is there reason to believe that it will change?

APPLE COULD END UP FINISHING ANDROID

Last year it was reported to be 12 percent of people switched, then it was reported that 30 percent of people switched. How many people will switch next year? If this trend continues, can they survive any more of their users switching to Apple? Eventually, customers are going to see why so many have switched, and if that happens then it could be the end for them.

THE TIME IS NOW ANDROID

If there was ever a time for desperation to kick in it would be right now for Android. They need to stop losing their customers to one of their rivals. It is bad enough that they are leaving them, but they are leaving them for one of the top dogs in the smartphone industry. If they are not careful, Apple will eventually beat them into submission and take all of their customers. This may be exaggerating, but the statistics that were provided by the CIPR give a very good reason to.

Microsoft Bing Could Replace Safari and Google Search Engine - http://clapway.com/2015/11/24/microsoft-bing-has-potential-to-beat-out-google-search-engine123/

Microsoft Corporation has presented its Windows 10 Mobile Build 10586 to its ring of experts, and also currently looks approaching Apple’s iOS. The business has let loose a spruced up version of its Microsoft Bing internet search engine, that attempts to redefine the way one browses the web making use of an iPhone.

The New Bing App is Better than Safari, And Maybe Even Google

According to reviewers, the new Bing app is even more convenient than Google. It works as a barcode scanner and is very rooted on deep-linking. It can open 3rd party apps connected to any search, but it works best being used as just that: a deep linking tool. Reviewers say that users will still need to have a separate application for web browsing purposes.

Microsoft Bing Rumored to Bring in Cortana

Much like Google Voice, reviewers are hoping that the Bing application will come with Cortana as a web assistant, which will increase the value of the app. Bing and Apple seem to be going hand in hand, as even Siri will assist iPhone users with the use of Bing search.

Microsoft Bing Will Come to Android Soon

With these partnerships, it’s very possible that Apple could fuse its unpopular Safari browser with the awesome features of Bing search. The fruit of this kind of collaboration could well compete with Google. The Bing app is currently available for free at the App Store.

Pepsi has introduced its brand-new low-cost P1 Android Pepsi smartphone coated with the famous soda brand’s round logo in red, white, and blue. The budget smartphone is being crowdfunded in China for $110 each.

Specifications of the Pepsi P1 Smartphone

Technology specs of the Pepsi smartphone reads that it has a 1080p screen, 2GB of RAM, fingerprint sensor, 4G LTE connectivity, and steel unibody design. The Pepsi P1 is made by Shenzhen Scooby Communication Equipment Co. It will supposedly launch in China, but not outside Asia’s greatest economy, with a suggested price of about $200.

Pepsi Smartphone Entering the Smartphone World to Beat Coca Cola

The new Android Pepsi smartphone will have mid-range phone features. It comes with a 5.5-inch display screen with full HD resolution, 1.7GHz MediaTek pocessor, 13-megapixel camera as well as 5MP front-facing camera. Pepsi’s phone also has 4G LTE wireless internet, Android’s Lollipop-based OS, microSD port, and 3,000 milliampere-hour battery with a one-day charge. Color options include silver, gold, and blue.

Pepsi’s market share is currently 8.8%, as compared to Coke’s 17.6%.

Skype is bringing video calling and messaging something brand new: it can now save video messages. Skype, owned by Microsoft, has a few other new features, but most notably, it’s able to do something that FaceTime can’t yet, in addition to three-way calling and a more complex layout.

Skype Saves Video Messages, But Only on Android

If not to further spite FaceTime, the update has only rolled out on the Android version of the app. Skype users on Android can even tap on video messages and save them to their photo libraries. The update also allows Android customers to manage their conversations differently. They can tap onto their Recent tab and customize whether they’d like to mark them as read, delete notifications or mute conversations.

Android Skype customers can also share pictures from their photo rolls in conversations. It also has improved search tools, now able to search for words in conversations and not just for people and contact numbers.

Google Photos isn’t alone in the fight against ‘storage almost full’ notifications. Google account holders can now downgrade image qualities in their accounts they’re running low on storage. And all it takes is the click of the ‘Free Up Space’ button on the Settings page.

The feature only deletes pictures that have already been backed up online, which minimizes risk of increasing storage at the cost of user files. Google Photos is also bringing in an Assistant, which helps users navigate Google Photos more seamlessly. It can even build GIFs out of your images or make a montage out of them. It also serves as the new storage notification system, and lets you know when and if your storage is nearing its limit.

Mark Zuckerberg Wants to Become an Android - http://clapway.com/2015/11/17/mark-zuckerberg-wants-to-become-an-android123/

In a recent Facebook Q&A, Mark Zuckerberg expressed his desires to develop an AI that is better than humans at using the five primary senses. Could it be that his ultimate goal is to develop artificial intelligence that surpasses human intelligence?

Zuckerberg - Clapway

The Five Senses of Facebook’s Future AI

Mark Zuckerberg expressed that Facebook’s goal is to bring an AI that can recognize anything that’s in an image or a video, understand and relay information about it. They’re hoping to develop artificial intelligence that an translate speech to text and vice versa, so it can answer any natural language question it’s asked.

Facebook’s AI has already given the company some trouble, with concerns about the AI being able to recognize users that don’t even belong to the social network via Facebook’s DeepFace facial recognition platform.

Facebook Buys Oculus and Develops AI, What’s Next?

Mark Zuckerberg added that Facebook is developing VR because it’s set to be the next major breakthrough in technology after smartphones, and by acquiring Oculus, Mark Zuckerberg hopes to bring the day that phones are in our pockets and smart glasses on or heads to enable us to see virtual structures, and virtual reality is bound to bring about new ways to live that aren’t possible at the moment.

Is Mark Zuckerberg Fancying Himself An Android?

Under Mark Zuckerberg’s word, there may come the day when humans are part robot and part human. Though there’s probably quite some time to go before that can even be envisioned, Mark Zuckerberg’s words serve as valuable food for thought.

New Google Maps Voice Alerts Are Annoying - http://clapway.com/2015/11/06/google-maps-voice-alerts-are-annoying123/

As if we needed one more distraction on the roads, Google Maps voice alerts for iOS are too loud and too annoying. We saw it with Waze and now it’s on Google Maps, but this one even gives a spoken summary of upcoming traffic. When will it end?

Alerts - Clapway

The new Google Maps voice alerts for iOS lets readers know what’s happening on the roads, and allows them to choose between different routes before going into an area with heavy traffic. This is great news for Uber drivers, since you’re in the back and probably jamming to the latest Taylor Swift, but it’s annoying to people actually behind the wheel and know what they’re doing. Like Waze, Google Maps voice alerts can now alert of minor crashes, traffic congestions and a delay estimate; routes can even be changed before you turn the car on. Talk about control freak.

This feature, which was already on Android, has reached the rest of the population. Except for the fact that it’s useful for morning commutes and metropolitan city traffic, Google Maps’ new traffic alerts are annoying, and best kept off if you’re going on a drive to relax. There’s also the risk that, like Waze, Google Maps will take you through roads with no traffic lights, which is useless because the time that you’d have spent at a light is the same amount of time you’ll spend sitting to gather enough courage to cross between the fast moving cars ahead of you.

Android One for Indians, iPhone for Americans - http://clapway.com/2015/11/05/android-one-phone-released-in-india123/

An Android One phone is rolling out courtesy of Lava in the next few months, and it’s the first one in India since Android Phone was introduced. Google is hoping for more phones to follow after its release.

India - Clapway

Google had initially set out strict guidelines for Android One devices; the company wanted to carefully pick out which parts and which suppliers manufacturers would use to carry out the Android One project. This would guarantee a low-cost Android phone with Google services. But developments show that manufacturers thought this too limiting and not cost-efficient. Analysis reports say that only about 3 million devices are said to have shipped in total across the 19 countries that Android One was launched in.

Google aims to give Android One partners price flexibility, as well as low-cost parts and good features. But developments show that there is little different between the cost of making an Android Phone and making a regular Android phone, so there’s a big question on what the point of the Android One initiative. Thought the guarantee that they will have Google services is still an attractive feature for all parties, so hopefully once the phone starts to roll out in India, it’s only a slope upwards for Android One phones.

Signal Comes to Android; Would Snowden Approve? - http://clapway.com/2015/11/04/signal-comes-to-android-would-snowden-approve123/

The famously encrypted calling and texting app Signal has come for Android. The free service, after being approved by even the likes of Edward Snowden, is the poster child for private calling and messaging. The way that it was implemented into Android? By combining two existing services, named TextSecure and RedPhone, and making it into Signal, which has been available for iOS since last year.

The company behind Signal is Open Whisper System, and its founder Moxie Marlinspike shares that in an effort to follow the main concept of the company, it just wanted to make things simpler. Signal code is not exclusive to its app or to the company, WhatsApp is known to use the same technology to keep texts private, which inspired a threat from British Prime Minister Dave Cameron to ban the app entirely.

Android’s Signal is likely to inspire a similar response from authorities like the FBI and the CIA, but it could also go the other way. With the spread of the app and its code, it may become vulnerable to these government agencies. Could there be a possible hole in the code as it stretches out to other platforms? Would Snowden approve of the spread of Signal, or would it have been better off sticking to one place only?

As the company grows and expands, Open Whisper Systems finds that its main concern isn’t in their code, which has been declared foolproof by analysts, technology experts and hackers alike. Their main problem is to make an app that is appealing and accessible to everyone, like apps such as WhatsApp or Viber, which are also integrating text and calling internationally and for free in their platforms.

Google Play Games Adds Video Recording Feature - http://clapway.com/2015/10/29/google-play-games-adds-video-recording-feature/

The Official Android blog just announced of the launch of a new feature on the Google Play Games app: users are now able to record and share their gameplay from mobile games. It’s all a matter of pressing a record button, choosing to capture your success or failure in 720p or 480p and go.

Users even have the ability to use their phone’s front camera and microphone to add video of the gamer to add comedic relief, reactions or commentary, and it can all be quickly edited and uploaded to YouTube.

The Details

This feature is available for the US and UK only for now, but in the coming days, Android said that it would be available to other countries and lightly hinted that this could cause a showdown with Google’s current competitor in this field, Twitch. A classy move, really.

According to TechCrunch, his new feature could be an attempt to help Google weigh in on the rising amount of video-game related content on YouTube, which prompted the company launched it’s own platform solely for gaming content, YouTube Gaming. Google Play Games is just making it easier for those who want to add into this content, which gets a great amount of hits, almost at par with movie stars and musicians.

Going Up Against Twitch

Twitch, currently owned by Amazon, is gamers’ go to for video game streams, gaming competitions and a place to discover new games ahead of release. YouTube remains a homebase for video content, but it’s currently trying to categorize this content as to engage more public given their new sections gaming, kid’s videos and content aimed at creators. Google’s announcement also declares that the company will soon launch an software development kit for developers so they may be able to rebuild gameplay recording efficiency from their own apps and games.

And now a hopefully healthy competition begins! Video games have been on the rise as of late, spreading to wider audiences and garnering as much attention as other pop culture outlets, and this is not just limited to console games, but also in mobile games.

They’ve become diversified and cause for much debate, either on whether they’re too violent or helpful in decreasing stress and anxiety and could actually improve mental health. The fact of the matter is, video games are relevant, as relevant as any content streamed on the Internet and buzzing through the people, and Google, it seems, is just making it’s best attempt to adapt and engage one more market.
