Pinterest Trends for Guys, Gays and Girls Are Weird - http://clapway.com/2016/01/22/the-pinterest-trends-for-guys-gays-and-girls-will-surprise-you-123/

Pinterest has shared the main trends on the platform divided by gender and country, and it says a lot about what girls, guys, and gays are looking up. The website excitedly shared eleven of the most popular keywords.

Guys, Girls, and Gays Love Traveling, No Matter What

The most obvious common ground with guys, girls and gays were travelling. Among the guys’ trends were: Ultralight backpacking meals, outdoor travel hacks, Airstream campers and off the grid cabins. As for the women travel trends, there were a lot of odd searches for ‘budget friendly travel with kids’, ‘New Zealand’, ‘Glamping’ and ‘Outdoor wear 101’.

Pinterest Talks Sports and Food in Mugs

Another very popular trend was ‘Superbowl snackadium’s’, which are a series of snacks compiled to look exactly like a Football Stadium. Surprisingly enough, the trends for guys also included ‘Nutri Ninja smoothie recipes’, ‘pocket squares’ and ‘paleo ideas’. This tells us that guys on Pinterest are very much into fitness and being healthy.

Another oddly popular trend was ‘Food in mugs’, which is a common trend in baking as well. Women frequently looked up ‘Going minimalist’, which is loosely along those veins. Pinterest has a user base mainly composed of women, most of the trends for this gender group were not surprising.

What Trends Did All of These Groups Have in Common?

Combined trends for guys, gays, and girls were New Year ideas, healthy posts, and pins about organization or nature. On top of that, Pinterest announced other shared trends, like Easy Valentine’s Day Ideas, Cold Weather Slow Cooker Recipes, Soup, Spice Storing Hacks, Bar Cart Essentials, The Feng Shui Bagua Map, The Amalfi Coast, Affordable Honeymoon Spots, Home Gym Ideas, and Kid Art Display Ideas.

It’s safe to say that regardless of sexual orientation and gender, we all love to travel. We also all love food, the ideal room arrangement and holidays! Soon enough, Pinterest will feature Promoted Pins for businesses in the US. By that time, trends will become even more interesting. Pins of the perfect arrangement will easy to attain!

Pinterest vs Snapchat: Who Is More Diverse? - http://clapway.com/2016/01/11/snapchat-vs-pinterest-who-is-more-diverse-123/

Pinterest is doing their best to go diverse and get out of their white CIS male comfort zone, while Snapchat is avoiding the question of diversity entirely. Today, diversity and equality are among the most relevant social issues, and it is only fair that it also applies to the people who run social media.

Pinterest Instagram Clapway

Diversity in Snapchat and Pinterest

The team behind Snapchat have never given any specifics as to their staff body. The company had 30 in staff a few years ago, and the number has spread to over 300 since. Snapchat is one of the fastest growing platforms on the internet, but they’re quite secretive.

Snapchat CEO Evan Spiegel has spoken mildly of diversity, declaring that he doesn’t count in numbers but in awareness. He has claimed diversity among the team, but hasn’t specified in numbers. The transparency could be interpreted as lying, but Snapchat is the kind of platform that needs to remain transparent.

In short words, all Snapchat does is provide with a way for people to communicate. The people who run the platform only need to worry about user safety and censorship where it is due. So far, Snapchat hasn’t received criticism for lack of diversity. In fact, its Discover tab displays snaps from all over the world. Regardless of what corners we see, Snapchat does work of putting the world in front of user’s eyes. Now, whether or not these stories are filtered is an entirely different story.

The truth is Snapchat hasn’t answered any questions about diversity in detail. It’s likely that they won’t, at least until the company grows a little bigger. Maybe then they will be more comfortable disclosing that information or the internet will come for their heads.

Pinterest Owns Diversity in 2016

Pinterest has just gotten their first head of diversity. This position will be in charge of giving the Pinterest staff body a way to get out of the white and male employee body. The new head of diversity is Candice Morgan, a black woman.

The announcement received positive response, unlike Twitter. The latter announced a white man as head of diversity, and they received serious negative backlash for it. Morgan’s plan is to hire women to make part of at least 30% of incoming engineers. She will also work on getting at least 18% of the engineering body from underrepresented ethnic backgrounds and implement a ‘Rooney Rule’. This means that at least one minority candidate and one female candidate will be interviewed for all leadership positions.

Pinterest is also auditing pay to make sure that there is fair payment for men and women. Now there’s some diversity done right. The firm will likely be getting a lot more support from its user base, who are women spread across all walks of life and races.

Tumblr Slammed Down Twitter, Pinterest and Instagram with this New Feature - http://clapway.com/2015/12/11/tumblr-slammed-down-twitter-pinterest-and-instagram-with-this-new-feature/

Tumblr has taken advantage of the new feature that Apple has opened up. Opening this new feature to their users will put them ahead of Twitter, Pinterest, and Instagram. The feature that was added by them is known as Live Photos.

2. Tumblr Live Photos Twitter, Pinterest, and Instagram

APPLE OPENS UP LIVE PHOTOS FEATURE

This is a very cool feature that Apple opened up to the public. They introduced it for their smartphones using the iOS 9.1 operating system. This would be the iPhone 6s and the iPhone 6s Plus smartphones. Basically, Apple opened this Live Photos feature to make it so developers could share Live Photos. However, what exactly is this feature?

WHAT THE LIVE PHOTOS FEATURE IS THAT TUMBLR ADDED

This Live Photos feature is what you can imagine it is. It allows users to capture moving images. This will allow users to be able to include movement and sound into their photos. This adds a lot of diversity to image taking. Tumblr mentions how all users have to do to use this is to update the app’s latest version. When this is done, the feature will be available to the users. Sharing these photos will work the exact same way as any normal photo would. The only subtle alteration is users will see a special icon on any photo that is live. This will make them easy to find when looking through images.

2. Tumblr Live Photos

TUMBLR ALSO ADD USES FOR 3D TOUCH

First of all, 3D Touch basically allows the live photo to come to life. The image must be pressed and then it will reveal all the animation and sound. However, the company has added more uses to this feature. The company points out that this feature will now play a role in searching across their domain. Using the 3D Touch when searching for something will initiate an avatar showing a preview. It will be done the same way that it would be done to animate a photo.

WHAT THIS MEANS FOR TWITTER, PINTEREST, AND INSTAGRAM

Tumblr has positioned themselves above Twitter, Pinterest, and Instagram after this one. Tumblr was the first major social networking service to implement this feature into their domain. This will now give users an extra incentive to switch over to them. As of right now Twitter, Pinterest, and Instagram do not support this feature, but they might want to soon. This is such a cool feature that all three of these services need to take a page out of Tumblr’s book and implement it.

FACEBOOK ANNOUNCES WHAT TWITTER, PINTEREST, AND INSTAGRAM NEED TO

Facebook is certainly not waiting to take advantage of this great new feature provided by Apple. They announced that later this year they are going to update their app to support Live Photos. No specific date was stated, they just said it would be available for their users within the next year. Instagram, Twitter, and Pinterest need to follow in Facebook’s steps and do the same. Live Photos is certainly a feature that needs to be present for all major social networking services.

KEEP ON EYE ON TWITTER, PINTEREST, AND INSTAGRAM IN THE FUTURE

It is not a guarantee, but it would be a surprise for these three services to not add this feature soon. There is no reason to believe that they would just allow Tumblr, and now Facebook, to have an advantage that they do not have. This is especially considering that Live Photos is a feature that Apple is opening to any developer that wants it. It is hard to believe a scenario in which Twitter, Pinterest, and Instagram would not want to add Live Photos to their domain. Keep an eye on these three in the future.

Can Pinterest Help Fight ISIS like Facebook and Twitter? - http://clapway.com/2015/12/08/can-pinterest-help-fight-isis-like-facebook-and-twitter123/

US authorities are putting serious pressure on social media companies like Facebook and Twitter to do more than raise awareness and halt terrorist use of their services. Nearly all major social media outlets have been connected to the recruit and communication between terrorist groups, namely the one responsible for the shooting in San Bernardino, CA and the Paris attacks of November 13.

Legislation for Twitter, Youtube and Facebook to Alert Authorities of Terrorist Activity

Senators in California are calling for a law that requires social media platforms to alert authorities of any suspicious activity on their websites or applications. This would have become part of an Intelligence Authorization Bill that has already been approved by the Senate Intelligence Committee. However, this bill was taken down because objections were holding up the underlying bill.

After the latest San Bernardino was linked to a couple that support ISIS and the spread of jihad, authorities are more and more nervous about how strong of a platform social media is. Extremist groups have better reach to the public now more than ever. Social media platforms make it all too easy for terrorists to spread their poisonous messages, and extremism has always been contagious. The line where the threat becomes real enough to alert authorities, though, isn’t too clear.

Should the Law Get Involved with Social Media?

As a principle, social media doesn’t line up with any governments or any authorities other than the ones where copyright is concerned. It’s not in the nature of the internet itself to be guarded by anything or anyone. Social media, like much of the internet, is fully public. Should the law get involved with Twitter, YouTube and Facebook any further?

If so, even platforms like Pinterest, Snapchat and Instagram should have to get involved as well. However, while it may feel like the internet is safer, it will only be in regards to terrorism. Many people will feel less safe browsing the internet if they know their activity is actively being monitored. Companies aren’t in favor of this either. So what is the right thing to do? As legislators and government officials deliberate the new bill, we’re sure to find out.

New Google Image Search - a Pinterest Idea - http://clapway.com/2015/12/02/google-image-search-pinterest-idea/

Google has officially released their newest feature known as Google Image Search. This new tool will allow all users who use Google to bookmark their images much more easily. It is also looking like this new feature could end up competing with what Pinterest does. Let’s take a look at Google’s latest hit.

Google Image Search Pinterest

GOOGLE IMAGE SEARCH FULL DETAILS

Google announced that the main aspect that this feature is doing is allowing users to star and bookmark their images. They also mention how this Google Image Search will allow their users to sort their bookmarked and starred images in folders and collections. Google also announced in a blog post that all images will automatically be added to a folder with similar images. Google has made sorting and surfing through images much more convenient with this Google Image Search. The hassle of forgetting where you forgot an image online is over.

GOOGLE IMAGE SEARCH TO RIVAL PINTEREST

Pinterest is an online social networking site that allows their users to pin images and have others online view them. This Image Search is clearly going to rival them. Both of these features/programs are going to test users on which one to use. On the one hand, the Google Image Search might be better in the organization field. However, when it comes to social media and sharing with others, Pinterest may have Google still beat. This will be a good thing for Pinterest because this will force them to make sure their program continues to get better and better.

GOOGLE IMAGE SEARCH SHOWS THAT THEY CONTINUE TO IMPROVE

Google just seems to keep getting better and better with their products. There is a reason why Google is one the best technology companies in the world and that is because they always continue to improve on whatever it is that they make.

Buyable Pins will Make Pinterest More Competitive - http://clapway.com/2015/11/04/buyable-pins-available-for-android123/

Pinterest’s Buyable Pins, previously only available for iPhone, have just come to Android. This tool turns Pinterest into an online shopping platform, incorporating a buy button onto all posts for suppliers to submit products and customers pin and purchase them.

Pinterest users can put in their credit card info and address and purchase any posts with the buy button, which is placed under the Rich Pins feature with more information, and the product can be delivered directly to their door just by the tap of a button.

Buyable Pins

In addition to Buyable Pins, Pinterest is also rolling out the Pinterest Shop, a collection of trending products that users can buy under categories like sweaters, shirts, leather leggings and blanket scarves. It follows the app’s trends and further entices users to follow them and hopefully buy a few things.

Buyable Pins will also make Pinterest more competitive against monsters like Amazon and Etsy, though with a different approach. Amazon tackles a more general audience, and Etsy is a bit narrower, but Pinterest is even smaller still. Pinterest currently ranks #21 on the App Store Top Charts, coincidentally right ahead of the Amazon apps, and this development will only make it go ahead in the mobile shop app game.
