Pain is something that most people will experience through their lives. It is something that most people do not like to experience. If you do then you are under the definition of a masochist. However, what if there are some people that are born without the ability to feel it? A group of scientists recently did a test on a woman who has never felt pain before. They had her experience what it feels like, and she actually liked it.

The scientists that did this experiment on this 39-year-old woman pointed out that she has a rare disease that did not allow her to feel physical pain at birth. They explain that this is due to a rare genetic mutation that leaves them without certain channels to tell the brain when something is painful. They then said they were able to treat this with a drug known as naloxone. After she was giving this drug, the scientists had to put it to the test. They said that they burned her with a laser and she responded with a smile. They said she had felt the pain and that she appeared to enjoy it.

Some people’s dream is probably to never experience pain again. It sure sounds like it would be a great disease to have. However, this woman seemed to enjoy the sensation of it. This is probably due to the fact of feeling something that you have never felt before. Although, never experiencing pain could actually turn out to be dangerous. Some are probably wondering how, but what if someone with this deficiency broke bones or was tearing their body apart without knowing? This could lead to complications down the road and could turn out deadly for some.

If this drug works for an extended period of time for this woman, then it will be interesting to see how long she likes it. The first sensation may be a fluke for her, but who knows?
