The Xbox One now supports 16 more Xbox 360 games because of the recently introduced backward compatibility feature. Microsoft promised to update the Xbox One every month to support more games, and it has delivered.
Notable Supported Games Include Halo Reach, Portal, and Doritos Crash Course
The new update also adds support to Deus Ex: Human Revolution, as well as Fallout 3, Gears of Wae 3, Just Cause 2, Assassin’s Creed II and Dirt 3. There are now over 100 games that can be downloaded to the Xbox One from their Xbox 360 discs. This not only brings good news to fans of these games, but it’s also a pretty good marketing strategy.
Now that Gamers Can Play Just Cause 3 and Creed II, They Will Upgrade
Playing games like Fallout 3 will make gamers want to get to the next chapter in the story. This will increase sales for Xbox One games almost effortlessly. All games in sagas, which are coincidentally the most popular titles, will make gamers want to get the whole picture. They won’t be able to do that without backward compatibility. This sucks for people who still only own the Xbox 360 since they don’t get the chance to double-dip.
Special Mention to Just Cause 3 and Deus Ex: Human Revolution
Just Cause and Deus Ex is getting special perks since they have follow-ups to their series coming out soon. Gamers can play Just Cause 2 to get themselves hyped up for the 3rd installment, and Deus Ex fans can prepare for the upcoming release of Deus Ex: Mankind Divided.
Microsoft Can Now Face Sony and the PS4
The PlayStation 4 is definitely the best selling console of the year. This new feature and these new compatible games might gain Mircosoft some ground. Sony recently announced that the PS4 would be able to emulate PS2 games, which is really hard to follow. This is because the PS2 still holds the title of best-selling video game console of all time. Sony can now pull in a huge number of people to buy PS2 games again or buy PS4 consoles.
Microsoft can only fight back by offering crowd favorites on their latest console. Gamers with Games with Gold subscriptions also get extra benefits, which gives games away at no extra charge. This will hopefully tip the scales to give these two competing consoles fair game.
A Commercial that Doubles As A Game: Doritos Crash Course
Doritos Crash Course, originally called Avatar Crash Course, was first released back in 2010. It’s a fun game that takes players on small courses and adventures with hilarious twists and spins. The fact that it can now be played on the Xbox One is really interesting because the game came out of Doritos Snack Strong Productions.
Doritos made a video game. Now that it’s back and fully available for new gamers, they might even make another one. This is an interesting venture on part of the company, and it could inspire others to make their own. The game doesn’t feature amazing graphics or a deep storyline, but it’s great fun. It can also sell like crazy if marketed properly. This is also another strategy that Microsoft could use to their advantage.
Microsoft Has Many Aces Up Their Sleeves, Even if They Don’t Know It
There are so many companies that could play with a proposition to make a video game, and they could even make a great one. This would spark the interest of many people, and that interest can become currency for Microsoft and the Xbox One. None of the Xbox consoles break the top 3 best selling consoles of all time. Nintendo and Sony are still ruling the ranks. But Microsoft could implement a few tactics to bring some change. The Xbox has a lot of loyal followers, and they could definitely get behind games like Doritos Crash Course, which has a great following and even had a great reception from critics. Hell, we could even see Candy Crush on the Xbox One eventually, and there are a lot of people who wouldn’t hate it at all.
