Facebook News Feed Outsmarts Google News, Yahoo News and Apple News - http://clapway.com/2015/12/12/facebook-news-feed-outsmarts-google-news-123/

Facebook has announced an update to the Facebook News Feed, which allows for it to work efficiently even in bad, slow connections. The social networking site released a statement with the announcement.

Emerging Markets Are Using Facebook in 2G Connections

Facebook revealed that people are going online at an increasing rate in emerging markets, and most of them are using 2G connections. The new Facebook News Feed now works regardless of the device used or the kind of network connection. Slow or fast, the Facebook News Feed will work seamlessly to show users the most relevant stories of the day.

Other feeds like Google News and Yahoo News, Flipboard only repost news from news stations, which can take a lot longer to report than social media. This is a very smart move, because when a topic is trending on Facebook, users can get the news from real people involved. In the same vein, people can get different opinions.

Facebook Now Features Offline Comments

The same announcement revealed that Facebook now lets users write comments on posts even when they’re offline, and as soon as your device reaches a good connection, the comment will be submitted. While this does change the basic layout of the new Facebook News Feed, it delivers the most important information with the smallest amount of network connection.

New Facebook News Feed Will Roll Out, But A Date Hasn’t Been Specified

The announcement did not attach an official date to the roll out of these new features, and it’s likely that the new Facebook News Feed will be launched in the markets the blog referenced before it hits larger ones with wider network webs like the United States and other countries in America. Updates regarding the roll out will be sent out via Facebook Engineering Blog.

Hopefully future updates will give for the exact date. This feature will allow users who are either in the air or at sea a way to get a quick fix of the latest news, and keep people traveling through remote locations.

Facebook is The Prince of Silicon Valley

As a company, Facebook has branched out to every single vein of the information technology industry. Not only have they developed the most important social media network of the time, but it also morphed into being something more: Facebook is a website that truly unites friends and loved ones without requiring them to be physically close to one another. Recent features like the safety check have changed the way people adapt to disaster and the way information about natural and unnatural chaos is delivered. A lot of people have been put at peace thanks to this feature, and as it continues to grow, it will ensure the safety of any user under any circumstance.

As time goes by, the social network will continue to grow. Facebook currently has one of the most advanced AIs in all of Silicon Valley, and it’s showing no signs of slowing down. They’ve made the social network accessible for the blind, made it so the technology can talk to you and communicate with you. Mark Zuckerberg has made significant investments in the future of science and technology and has put his stake on new projects that will change the face of Silicon Valley as time goes on.

Mark Zuckerberg is A Technology Juggernaut

Facebook has much more ambition than could be initially expected. After The Social Network made its debut in 2010, people may have thought that Facebook had reached its peak in popularity. Many thought that it could only drop in popularity and in usefulness. The reality has turned out to be very different. Facebook has a vision, and it’s putting it to very good use. It has become an unsung prince of Silicon Valley, and it has the kind of power to even become the king.

Facebook Has Your Back, in More Ways than One

Mark Zuckerberg has developed a website that’s more like an annoyingly protective cousin. While it does occasionally overshare, or get cluttered with videos of little relevance, it’s the go-to for basically everything. From celebrity gossip to development on the latest news to birthdays and engagement announcements, Facebook has our back.

Facebook Launches Notify to Tackle Apple News - http://clapway.com/2015/11/05/facebook-launches-notify-to-tackle-apple-news123/

Facebook could bring their news app Notify as early as next week, after months of speculation on what their AI would bring next. The app launches in partnership with Billboard, CBS, CNN, Comedy Central, the Washington Post, Mashable and Vogue.

This comes surely as a way to weigh in on some more mobile advertising, where it is only rivaled by Google. After their Instant Articles, whose articles loaded faster on the Facebook app than in other platforms, received a good response, Facebook started to plan to take it to the next level, though they’re not alone.

Apple pushing for Apple News on iOS 9, Google’s pushing for its Accelerated Mobile Pages, Twitter launched Moments, and Facebook is joining the competition. It’s no wonder that media consumption is mainly done through phones, and advertisers are jumping at the very first opportunity to jump in on that bandwagon.

Buzz about Notify began back in August, and according to the latest reports, Notify works by pushing notifications about breaking news through Android and iOS interfaces. Given Facebook’s steady rise in user percentages and investments as well as investors, Notify will give Apple News a good fight. The app is rumored to roll out as early as next week, if not through the next few weeks.

Are you awaiting the first #crowdsourced #SuperMario Game? - http://clapway.com/2015/08/02/facebook-hacks-super-mario-maker-and-the-results-are-insane-353/

Over 100 Facebook employees flew to Silicon Valley, California last weekend, where they were invited by Nintendo to participate in a two-day “hackathon”— a level designing competition for the upcoming video game Super Mario Maker. Ok, so we’re not talking about the usual “hacking” that requires advanced coding skills. Instead, Nintendo hosted the competition as a fun way to hype up Mario’s upcoming 30th birthday party.

Hacking Super Mario

develop

Facebook employees who grew up carrying the mustachioed plumber in red through level after increasingly-difficult level, across a myriad of different games spanning every Nintendo console since the original Nintendo Entertainment System had the chance to design their own levels, with Super Mario Maker. The 100 contestants had two days to finish designing a level however they pleased.

The reward? Besides the chance to play with the upcoming Super Mario Maker’s new features, the winning contestant would have their created level included with each sold copy of Super Mario Maker as an available download.

After two days of hard work, making sure every detail was perfect down to the last Goomba and POW block, Facebook employees Roy McElmurry and Doug Strait won the grand prize for their level, called Ship Love. The level will take place on a pirate ship, and includes a wide arrange of tricky obstacles and enemies to conquer, including abysmal gaps and hungry Chain-Chomps. Ship Love will be available for download with the game’s release on September 11th.

Bring in the New!

Nintendo is ready to break new ground (literally) with their upcoming Super Mario Maker: an upcoming download for the Wii U which allows players the chance to reminisce in the nostalgia of playing old Super Mario games, while using their own creativity to design new and interesting worlds to navigate Mario and his friends through.

Players will be given the option of creating levels from four different 2D Mario game formats: the original Super Mario Bros., Super Mario Bros. 3 , Super Mario World and New Super Mario Bros. U.

While the physics of each format will stay true to their original games, items such as the Koopa Clown Car—an item exclusive to very few Mario games—will be available to use across all formats. Players can also summon an army of Mario’s enemies, placing hordes of short-tempered Bomb-ombs and and bone-crushing Thwomps on and around carefully placed blocks and other Mario scenery.

The First Crowdsourced Video Game Maker

Far from just a normal level-designer, Nintendo has decided to pull out all the stops, letting players upload their own levels onto their Wii U profile, where others who own the game can download and/or recommend them to other players. While starts with a 10-level upload limit, the more popular your games become online, the more you will be allowed to show off your creative genius.

Super Mario Maker has already been receiving rave-reviews from gaming giant IGN, praising its user-friendly format, while also presenting players with a limitless world in which creative juices can flow freely, without ever feeling restricted.

One of the most anticipated games to be released in 2015, Super Mario Maker will hit the shelves on September 11th, giving Mario a birthday we’ll never forget.

Majority of Parents Joining Social Media Networks, But Not to Spy on Kids - http://clapway.com/2015/07/18/majority-of-parents-joining-social-media-networks-but-not-to-spy-on-kids567/

A new report by Pew shows that social media networks have become vital channels for American parents. And no, not to stick their noses into children’s personal lives.

The report found that moms and dads turn to Facebook for parenting-related advice and social support.

Social media networks: “Connecting Parents”

Parents – 75% of whom use social media – are especially likely to join different social media platforms to give and seek emotional, social and parental advice, the study suggests.

Overall, 74% of parents who use social media get valuable support from their online friends.

Digging into the data, mothers are more likely than fathers to engage their social media networks to respond to good news, or to get support from their peers.

Parents find value in social media

“Social media is broadly viewed as a source of useful information and as one parenting tool among a collection of options,” the authors of the report wrote.

Paradoxically being a parent has never been so difficult, research shows. The report suggests that social media networks have now turned into a one-stop information portal for American folks. One-in-four say they get help from their networks for parenting issues. Most strongly agree that they get useful information via their virtual webs of contacts– mothers in particular.

Private detectives no more

Proof that “the times they are a-changing”, few parents play the “social media police” and say they have felt uncomfortable when information about their children was shared on social media.

Only 11% of all parents have ever asked for content about their child posted by a family member, caregiver or friend to be removed from social media.

Parents love Facebook

Most parents are avid Facebook users. Three-quarter of them use this social media network – 75% log on daily, including 51% who do so several times a day.

They mostly share, post or comment on Facebook as opposed to simply reading or viewing content. A typical parent has only 150 Facebook friends. One-third of them are “actual” friends.

The survey was conducted in September in association with the University of Michigan’s School of Information and was based on a nationally representative sample of 2,003 American adults ages 18 and older.

#Moneypenny by #Facebook to rival your #personalassistant. - http://clapway.com/2015/07/14/moneypenny-facebooks-human-operated-virtual-assistant-234/

Facebook is reportedly developing its own digital assistant internally called Moneypenny, after James Bond’s trustworthy secretary. According to The Information, the social network is working on a feature within Facebook Messenger that “allows users to ask real people for help researching and ordering products and services, among other tasks.”

What’s different about Moneypenny?

Designed to rival digital assistants such as Apple’s Siri, Google Now and Microsoft’s Cortana, Moneypenny’s main purpose is basically to make our life easier. They are truly first-world problems solving gurus. What’s different, though, is that Moneypenny will allow users to search for and order products and services backed by live human assistance, early reports suggest.

Innovation is in the air

In recent months, Facebook has come out with new features for Messenger, that include video calling and payment services, but the social network isn’t done with innovation yet. Basically, with Moneypenny, well-trained people and experts in various fields will help users to discover and purchase products and services.

Your assistant in your pocket

The technology is similar to concierge services such as Magic — which is a text-based service that promises to get you whatever your heart desires, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week — as long as it’s legal.

Other virtual assistant applications include Operator and GoButler which promise to fulfil every one of your requests, on-demand by searching the web, comparing prices, reading reviews, and ordering what you need.

Moneypenny: Facebook

“Text us to get whatever you want, whenever you want, wherever you are – it’s really simple and cool,” says GoButler co-founder CEO Navid Hadzaad. The objective is ultimately to help users save time and “make it happen”, conveniently via text message.

Virtual assistants are increasingly popular

The demand for human-operated virtual assistants is increasingly high, with companies processing and handling thousands of requests per day.

Moneypenny is currently being tested and it will probably include new features before being released to the world at large. Even its name could eventually change. However, if Moneypenny is designed to work in combination with Facebook Messenger’s new options, then it could definitely be an interesting service to explore.

Facebook hasn’t commented on the ‘leak’ yet.

Are you using a virtual assistant? How useful is it?

People want to at least feel like they’re living in the future more these days. Why not make a friend in MUSIO?

What do you think about the Facebook Messenger app? - http://clapway.com/2015/06/29/facebook-messenger-and-whatsapp-same-same-but-different-234/

Facebook is now allowing anyone to use Messenger, even if they’re not a part of the 1.44 billion users social network. This is Facebook’s latest step in making the messaging app an independent and self-sustaining product.

MESSENGER NOW JUST LIKE WHATSAPP

Just like for WhatsApp, to sign up to Messenger without a Facebook account, a name, phone number and a photo will be enough. Facebook wrote on the news section of its website that with Messenger, they’ve been dedicated to creating the best messaging experience possible for users.

With this update, more people will be able to enjoy the innumerable features available on the app, regardless of their social media preferences. The option, however, is currently available only in Canada, the United States, Venezuela and Peru.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

Now, on Messenger’s initial screen, users will find a “Not on Facebook?” option. Subsequently, one can sign up, without necessarily being a member of the social network. The app will create a friend list based on phone book contacts for users to share photos, videos, enjoy group chats, and make voice and video calls with their network of friends.

COMPETITION ON THE RISE

Facebook already owns photo-sharing app Instagram and messaging app, WhatsApp which has now increasingly similar features to Messenger, such as sending photos, stickers and videos, group chats, voice and video calling.

But the competition is getting fierce. Facebook Messenger must increasingly play the game with other popular messaging services such as WeChat and SnapChat.

Consequently, the company wants to turn Messenger into one of its most vibrant and dynamic components.

The recent strategic move to make Messenger accessible to virtually everyone will help Facebook to make the app available to all new kind of users who will join a ‘global army’ of 700 million people who already use the chat service.

Facebook recently opened its Messenger doors to developers, as well as businesses, allowing them to use the app to handle customers. The company also unveiled a number of new features and objectives for its different apps at its annual meeting. Guess what? The spotlight is increasingly on Messenger.

It’s not enough to have Facebook’s Messenger app without a full charge. Lepow Poki External Battery Charger could help with that. Check out more tech-related news at Clapway Trends:
