T-Mobile Customers Can Use Phones in Canada and Mexico at No Charge - http://clapway.com/2015/07/10/t-mobile-customers-can-use-phones-in-canada-and-mexico-at-no-charge654/

One of T-Mobile’s latest moves was to add more services to its customers without adding any other charges to customer bills. The mobile carrier will now include texting, calling, and 4G LTE data to and from Mexico and Canada for all customers who have Simple Choice calling plans with the carrier.

SIMPLE CHOICE PLANS WITH T-MOBILE NOW COVERS NORTH AMERICA

This news was all released in a July 9 announcement by T-Mobile. The “no extra charge” initiative for no roaming charges is called “Mobile without Borders” and will begin on July 15th for all T-Mobile customers. The plan covers both sending and receiving calls or texts between the U.S., Canada, and Mexico on T-Mobile phones.

All T-Mobile Simple Choice plan members, regardless if they have a prepaid or billed account, will automatically receive the new calling features at no extra charge as a part of their calling plans. Current Simple Choice customers can join online, in store, or by phone. Business customers can add coverage and calling across North America to their Simple Choice plans at no extra cost for the first 10 lines and only $1 a month for each line beyond that.

IN 2014, THERE WERE OVER $10 BILLION IN GLOBAL ROAMING CHARGES

This is great for customers who frequently make and receive calls and texts from Canada and Mexico, especially when they are traveling between the three countries. Around 55 percent of all international travel and 35 percent of international calls from the United States involved Canada and Mexico. This led to nearly $10 billion in global roaming charges at over 90 percent higher rates for mobile carriers in 2014.

T-MOBILE ACTS 4 MONTHS AFTER AT&T BOUGHT NEXTEL MEXICO

This latest T-Mobile announcement arrives shortly after AT&T, one of T-Mobile’s competitors, announced that it was acquiring the assets of Nextel Mexico for over $1 billion. The AT&T and Nextel Mexico deal was described by AT&T as a step towards the creation of the first North American Mobile Service.

John Legere, CEO and President of T-Mobile mentioned the AT&T acquisition when he discussed the new T-Mobile ‘Mobile without Borders’ services. Legere said that they beat AT&T to the punch and, are doing so in the better way because they are providing these services to and from Canada as well without charging customers more money for them.

Pacific Ocean: Discovery of Pescadero Basin Vents - http://clapway.com/2015/06/10/pacific-ocean-discovery-of-pescadero-basin-vents-123/

The deep sea is a relatively unknown world filled with wonders and jaw-dropping discoveries. This latest discovery in a recently discovered seafloor, fits that description entirely.

A “hot spring” was discovered along the seafloor of the Pacific Ocean, and scientists claim it is vastly different than the common hydrothermal vents. Dave Clague a Marine geologist at the Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute (MBARI) in California verifies that this “hot spring” is different in more than one way.

WHAT THEY LOOK LIKE

The chimneys of the newly-named Pescadero Basin vents have spirals that appear to be white as now, but they are formed from calcium carbonate or limestone. The water surrounding these “chimneys” are 500 degrees Fahrenheit (about 260 degrees Celsius). They are “laden with methane and petroleum-type products that give off a whiff of diesel fuel,” said National Geographic.

WHERE IT IS PESCADERO BASIN LOCATED

The location is another strange feature about these vents. They lie 100 miles off the coast of eastern Mexico, near La Paz. The Pescadero Basin vents are 12,5000 feet below the surface of the ocean and deep into the seafloor. This makes them the deepest high-temperature vents known to reside in the Pacific Ocean.

Furthermore, the area surrounding the vents is comprised of mud made up of the ocean floor. This is a surprising factor because most vents have no sediment, and they are further off the coast with no land on the nearby seafloor.

ANY ANIMALS?

The species surrounding the Pescadero Basin vents are another element of surprise for scientists. The common tubeworms, called Riftias are scarce around the Pescadero Basin vents. “In fact,” Clague said, “the animal community inhabiting the new vent field seems to be a mix of things found around hydrothermal vents and cold seeps.”

MBARI biologist are currently researching and studying the seafloor around the Pescadero Basin vents. They are also studying the vents themselves, but the research will take years to complete. For a basin this large things can get expensive, and with such an expansive amount of space, there are constantly new species and areas to discover.

In the past finding these vents have proved very difficult, but in the case of the Pescadero Basin vents, technology has proven a reliable and timely tool. Scientists, like Clague, are hoping that they will be able to research and find more vents than ever before, and the Pescadero Basin vents are the very first step!

Best Burgers in the Land of the Tacos - http://clapway.com/2015/05/25/best-burgers-in-the-land-of-the-tacos/

As food trends come and go and unless you live in a deserted island, you probably noticed burger restaurants have had a resurgence in the last few years. Burgers used to be synonymous of fast food, where a burger was served on a cardboard plate with fries was the norm. Fortunately, things have changed and boutique burger restaurants have risen with places like Shake Shack or the Burger Joint in NYC. For burger lovers, the number of restaurants that offer them in Mexico City have increased dramatically. For the average Joe a burger is the same everywhere you go, but for those with discerning taste the amount of variants chefs have created make each offering extremely unique. From beef patties injected with beer to the ones made out of lamb and tzatziki, all three spots I have recently visited are well worth the trip and calories!

B-Town This burger boutique located in La Roma neighborhood offers so many options that you will want to come back to try a different burger and shake everytime. The menu includes B Premium burgers with options from Vegetarian, Waygu and Mexican (Oaxaca cheese with chiles, avocado and tomato). The Chef William Wilcox from Hawaii is passionate about using sustainable and fresh ingredients and tries to create a true gourmet experience in each of the burgers. As Ramon Nakash, owner of B Town told me: ” the true secret of the place is making the buns and the beef mixture in house. We have a lab downstairs where everything is created and this way we can maintain a high quality in the burgers we offer.”

Kitchen 6 Gastropub Kitchen 6 offers burgers combined with the best beers creating a unique experience. With options from chicken teriyaki to duck with chipotle, every dish comes with a beer recommendation so you can enjoy your meal. Chef Rodrigo Carrasco mixes Mexican, European and Mediterranean flavors to create an epic gastronomical experience. You must try the Dark Beer Burger which is a beef patty with melted cheese in the middle, injected with some beer and topped with a tempura onion ring. You should try to give it a big bite so you don’t have to tear it apart.

Jucy Lucy This burger spot is inside Purveyor a new restaurant concept in La Roma neighborhood. Purveyor is an old renovated house with several restaurants inside, from tacos to burgers to a Brazilian steakhouse. Lucy the founder of Jucy Lucy was inspired by the Minneapolis hamburgers with the same name. The whole burger concept is having the melted cheese inside the beef patty, this way when you take a bite the melted cheese comes out creating an amazing mix of flavors. The classic Jucy Lucy is served with chips and a thick slice of bacon. I promise the flavor is worth the hundreds of calories!
