Time lapse photography has many drawbacks, like weather, memory card limitations and battery limitations. A new project called the Enlaps will put all those worries to rest. The Enlaps handles time lapse photography better than a Canon 7D, a Sony A7 or even a GoPro would.

Enlaps Makes Time Lapse Photography Perfect

Enlaps features infinite battery energy, unlimited memory card space and a plug-and-play set up. This is an ideal device for professional photographers, connoisseurs and aficionados, or just people looking to have some fun with panoramics.

Anyone who deals with time-lapse photography faces three great issues while shooting: battery, storage and editing/sharing. Enlaps comes integrated with an adjustable photovoltaic solar cell. This makes it ideal for time-lapse photography. In terms of storage, Enlaps is wirelessly connected to the Enlaps cloud, where content is immediately stored. That way users never run out of space. As for editing and sharing, the gadget processes footage automatically, and it can be edited or shared directly from the platform.

There Are Still a Few Hazards for The Enlaps Tikee

The Enlaps Tikee is that truly makes the technology unique. This little guy is weatherproof and optimizes field of view to be the best possible. It uses a 2x Sony Exmor R sensor and 2x F2.8 wide angle lenses to bring the best footage possible. It can capture 220 degrees of a full picture even after stitching, and has a microSD card slot that supports cards of up to 128GB. The basic Tikee supports Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, and can translate images to JPEG. The campaign doesn’t really talk about interactions with wildlife. This is definitely a threat to its efficiency. Though it would make for hilarious footage, it’s fair to add that the Tikee may not fare well against birds or coyotes.

The Tikee comes integrated with a special smart algorithm that helps it decide what to do to keep shooting for as long as possible, and how. Long term time lapses are no problem at all, as it will prioritize shooting in every way. If battery permits, it will shoot continuously for however long needed, connecting the footage to the cloud. If battery levels are low, it’ll stop wireless communication to save power. IF it has no solar power left, but has a full battery charge, it will shoot for 10 minutes continuously for one full week. Now show us a GoPro or a Canon 7D that can do that!

Seeing your hometown through other lenses. This is about what all photo essays crowning New York City’s glory makes me feel.

When I run stumble onto photographs of my childhood neighborhood, places that were evoked a certain unknowable feeling within me, places that are so familiar you feel like you’ll always recognize them. But no actually, it took me a few extra moments to recognize even the places I’ve seen hundreds of times. A double take is needed here.

One of the things I recognized is the disparity between my version of New York and the versions within the images. How the images romanticize their subjects admirably, lending envy and yearning to a viewer — perhaps on purpose. The pictures offer a sense of relax that real life does not necessarily offer.

You’re never isolated in New York. Your version is your own, but there is an everyone version that always feels taken from you. It’s okay though, you don’t have to give it back because you’ll never be able to. And it doesn’t matter anyway. This is common ground one that can connect us, foster kinship (anthropologists love not just kinship diagrams but also all things kinship), and take us to a place at least one step away from loneliness.

Flickr Pro is now making a return to the very common image sharing network. Flickr has announced today that it is bringing back its Flickr Pro service, with improvements. The improvements include analytics and insights.

YAHOO’S FLICKR IS BRINGING BACK FLICKR PRO AFTER TWO YEARS

Yahoo’s Flickr went under a major revamp in May of 2013 in which there were major changes announced. Yahoo announced that it was removing the Pro plan in order to allow every user to have the 1 TB of storage option. The company also introduced an advertisement-free version for $49.99 per year. This most recent announcement makes a complete turnaround from the 2013 announcement.

Although Flickr Pro users will automatically receive an update, there will not be any extra storage space being added.

In addition to these other announcements, Flickr says that the company will be providing free shipping in the United States on purchases of Flickr merchandise and 50 percent off of international shipping with a $25 minimum purchase.

One of the most interesting parts of the new Pro subscription are the improved analytics. Flickr says that photographers will be able to use improved navigation for viewing information on their photo. The company is also going to provide improved statistics for checking how well your photos did. Flickr Pro members will also not be seeing any advertisements on the site. They will also be adding a badge to your Pro account to let everyone know that you are a paid subscriber.

Flickr was once the dominant website within the photography community. However, they face a lot of competition from services like SmugMug and 500px. The reinstated Flickr Pro is in hopes to attract new users and to keep the current subscribers satisfied.

Michael Najjar, a professional photographer, plans on becoming the first civilian artist in space. Since 2012, Najjar has been training, in hopes of flying on Virgin Galatic’s maiden voyage later this year. During his space astronaut training, Najjar is documenting every moment. Even though he experienced temporary loss of color vision and almost blacked out during a stratospheric flight at twice the speed of sound, he was not deterred from his goal. If anything, he learned from the experience. He learned that it is difficult to control your movements, let alone focus the camera for a decent picture. If Najjar makes it to space, the event will open up more opportunities for other civilians to travel to space for career development. Here are three careers that would be awesome to see in space:

1. Dancer

Can you picture the Nutcracker being performed in space? Or imagine Step Up (the first one, not the ridiculous sequels) taking place in space. Cool right? It would be hard for the dancers to get used to the lack of gravity and there is also a strong possibility that the dancers my vomit on the first go around. But I think they could make it work. It would give the performance a different aesthetic. This career would be awesome to see in space because it would definitely break down barriers in the art world and open up minds to more possibilities.

2. Football Player

I know football fans are really hardcore and don’t like sudden changes in their team or their sport, but football in space would be hilarious. Big guys trying really hard to run faster and throw further, when gravity is working against them. I’m sure that eventually they would have to change the rules and the players would become accustomed to the changes in the environment, but I think football would be great to see in space for pure shits and giggles.

3. Porn Star

Funding is already in progress for Pornhub to film the first porn in space. If this occurs, it will open up doors for porn stars to explore more bizarre places to shoot scenes. And I have to admit, porn in space would be interesting to watch. You know you would want to see it too. We’ll just agree that it’s for academic purposes only. Wink, wink.

I hope Najjar accomplishes his goal, but not just for his benefit, but for the benefit of society. Us, as humans, thrive on knowledge and discovery. People will realize that they can truly accomplish anything they put their minds to. Who knows what would be next after Najjar becomes the first civilian artist in space. Why not make your career the first for us to see in space?

3 Careers That Would Be Awesome to See in Space

Animal attacks have been no stranger to the headlines this past month. Bears were chasing runners and coyotes were running wild in New York City. But now, tourists are getting more than they bargained for when visiting some of the more famous wildlife hotspots.

The Threat of Animal Attacks at Yellowstone

In the United States, Yellowstone National Park is alive with wild animals, including bison. Unfortunately, taking pictures of the wildlife can lead to an unwanted adventure. Twice in the last month, bison have attacked tourists trying to snap that perfect shot. Most recently in animal attacks, a bison charged at a 62-year-old Australian when he got too close. The man was taking pictures of the bison, which triggered the bison’s instincts. The bison charged at the man and tossed him in the air. According to a press release sent out by Yellowstone National Park, the main sustained several injuries, but they were not life threatening.

Respect The Animals at Yellowstone National Park

Bison are a lot larger, and more aggressive, than one might originally think. A male weighs around 2,000 pounds, while a female weighs around 1,100pounds. They might look cute, but they are agile and aggressive. Bison can run as fast as 30 miles an hour, and attacks can be deadly.

When tourists descend on the bison, they can become more edgy and unpredictable than when left alone. Unfortunately, some tourists don’t respect the boundaries of the bison and hoard around them, harassing them for the perfect photo.

In Time For Summer, Yellowstone’s Warnings to Visitors

Park authorities encourage tourists to keep a safe distance between them and the bison. They recommend visitors maintain a distance of at least 75 feet to ensure safety. Just because the bison are in a national park, doesn’t mean they are tame creatures.

Although this isn’t the first animal attack at Yellowstone National Park this season, they are typically uncommon occurrences. Park rangers don’t want to discourage tourists and visitors from experiencing the natural beauty of the park, but they want to impress upon tourists the importance of respecting the animals and their wildlife.

It can be tempting to get a close-up picture, but the only way to ensure animal attacks don’t happen is to be smart and respect boundaries.

I’m not one that travels alone often but with a lot of spare time and an itching to go and do something new, I decided to take a day trip to the Lake District by myself. I have travelled alone before but usually I end up meeting a friend when I reach my destination so I’m not used to being completely independent. But in this trip, I learnt to enjoy going at my own pace, moving in silence and having the confidence to make choices alone.

The Lake District (also known as The Lakes or Lakeland) is a mountainous National Park in North East England. I travelled by foot in the towns of Windermere and Bowness. The lady at the information centre was very helpful and pointed out to me the different viewpoints in the Lake District and I spent my day going between these. Being alone meant having to navigate completely by myself. Thankfully iPhones were invented so this allowed me to figure out where I was going without getting too lost. The towns in the Lake District are very classical English countryside towns: no busy high streets and tall buildings but lots of nature, small shops and narrow winding roads.

There was a lot of hiking up hills, but it was definitely worth it when you were treated to some spectacular sights. I had to be very careful when I was hiking up because as I was alone, if I tripped and fell, there would be no one to help me. But I took my time, calculated my steps and took it at a leisurely pace. And as mentioned, there were some terrific views of the beauty that is the English countryside so the hiking was definitely worth it. Another positive of travelling alone meant taking as long as I needed to take photos of the scenery without having to wait for any impatient friends.

If I had more time, I could have taken a boat ride, or hired a bike and seen some other towns. But even if it were only for one day, I would definitely visit a day out in the Lake District if you end up in the North of England.
