Audi R8 and Tesla: Being Badass vs Going Green - http://clapway.com/2016/01/22/going-green-vs-being-badass-audi-r8-and-tesla-edition-123/

The new 2017 Audi R8 is coming in V-10 only, jam packed with badassery. The new Tesla Model S is still breaking ground in green vehicles. At the end of the day, is it better to go green than to be badass?

The New 2017 Audi R8 Is Not For the Faint of Heart

This new model won’t be affordable, but it’s packed with amazing features. The starting price for the coupe is $164,150, which is a significant increase from the 2015 model. The car sports an amazing 540 horsepower and 398 pounds per feet of torque. This is a huge upgrade from its predecessor, which featured 525 hp and 391 pounds per feet of torque.

The new 2017 Audi R8 is 143 pounds lighter than the 2015 model, and according to stats, it is also 40% more rigid. It goes from 0 to 60 in 3.5 seconds, which is slower than the previous model. To make up for it, the car’s maximum speed is 199 mph and not 195.

The standard model of the race car offers the car maker’s own 12.3″ ‘Virtual Cockpit’. This display screen includes 4G LTE connectivity, supports Wi-Fi hotspots and also has Google Earth for use with navigation. It also features the signature Audi Connect Apps.

Bring Out the Badass In You With the V10 Version

The 2017 Audi R8 V10 Plus version has carbon ceramic disc brakes, a carbon-fiber spoiler, special 19″ wheels with titanium finish and a sports exhaust system. It has shorter gear ratios to bring out the racer within all of us and has a fixed rate sports suspension. Naturally, it features racing-shell seats to complete the racer look.

Meanwhile, Tesla Causes Some Drama

Notorious for offering the greenest cars in the market, Tesla is suing a Swiss parts vendor for defects on the falcon wing doors on the Tesla Model X. The doors, which were supposed to vertically open, were found to have a malfunctioning hydraulic system. Tesla is claiming that they had to redesign the entire car in order to find a makeshift solution to the problem.

The lawsuit was filed this week at a federal court of San Francisco. The documents declare that after many warnings, Hoerbiger failed to fix the reported issues with the falcon wing doors. The parts they manufactured were botchy on the car and clearly were not ready for production. The doors leaked oil and had poor performance.

Instead of switching to another oil consuming system, Tesla stayed true to their schtick and went with electromechanical parts. The car maker has thus proved that it’s fully possible to be badass while going green.

Audi Rover And Google Hit the Moon, Will Ford and Toyota Join? - http://clapway.com/2016/01/18/audi-rover-and-google-hit-the-moon-will-ford-and-toyota-join-123/

Audi is looking out for the moon, and companies like Google, Ford and Toyota may just join in their efforts to get their names on the satellite. The automaker is partnering up with Part-Time Scientists to get an Audi Rover on the old landing site of Apollo 17.

Audi Goes to Space, Will Ford and Toyota Join?

As its mission, Part-Time Scientists will be getting technical support from Audi. Both teams combined will bring life to an ‘Audi Lunar Quattro Moon Rover’. The rover will be  touching down on the old landing site of Apollo 17. Board Member for Sales and Marketing Luca de Meo expressed he hopes that other companies, like Google, Ford or Toyota, might partner up for the project. The moon is a hot topic among space agencies though NASA is more focused on Mars.

NASA Might Not Care About the Moon, But ESA, Roscosmos and CNAS Do

The moon is a hot topic among space agencies though NASA is more focused on Mars. ESA and Roscosmos are teaming up to build a colony on the moon, and CNAS is also pushing for another space probe launching to the moon. Any of these three agencies could join hands with Part-Time Scientists and Audi to put that rover on the moon.

Final Goal: $30 Million Google Lunar XPRIZE

A team from Part-Time Scientists is actually working with the Google Lunar XPRIZE competition to send an unmanned probe to the moon. Audi comes in with their Quattro all-wheel drive technology, and their extensive knowledge of lightweight construction and electric mobility to the new rover, as well as piloted driving.

A privately funded mission to the moon is a very attractive concept to Audi. The car maker is looking for innovative ideas to contribute to and promote. The collaboration with Part-Time Scientists may bring in other collaborators, who will bring in their own know-how into the equation. This is Audi’s exact intention.

Audi Goes to Space

This competition, funded by Google, is supposed to inspire engineers and entrepreneurs from all over the world to find low cost ways to develop robotic space exploration. The winner of the $30 million prize will have to successfully land a robot on the surface of the moon and roam for at least 500 meters. It must also transmit HD video and imaging back to Earth.

The Audi and Part-Time Scientists rover will be launching hopefully by 2017. It will be onboard a launching rocket, travelling 380,000 kilometers to the moon. It will be about five days until it lands on the landing site of the late Apollo 17, where temperatures linger up to 300 degrees Celsius.

Mercedes Ends Tie With BMW and Audi With New E-Class - http://clapway.com/2016/01/13/mercedes-ends-tie-with-bmw-and-audi-with-new-e-class-123/

Mercedes Benz has officially declared that they will end the tie they hold with the Audi A6 and BMW 5 Series with the announcement of their new E-Class vehicle. The new car brings in fresh innovation with classic elegance.

Mercedes Clapway

E-Class is The Core of the Mercedes Brand

The semi-autonomous car will be going on sale in the summer of 2016 and will feature drivers assistance as standard. Among these features are braking assist, which automatically stops or slows down the car to prevent accidents or pedestrians; driver attention assist, which tracks the driver’s drowsiness; and a new feature called Pre-Safe Sound, which reduces damage to passenger’s ears from an exploding airbag. This feature protects the passengers by making a sound that also reduces shock and confusion from collision, right before the car makes an impact. The sound triggers the human body’s stapedius reflex, which allows the inner ear to prepare itself for unexpected or loud noises.

Mercedes E-Class Definitely Beats out Audi and BMW Series 5

The new Mercedes E-Class will also feature a Drive Pilot system. This can keep the car at a safe distance from others on highways and country roads. It can also keep the car in lane in speeds of up to 130mph. It can also change lanes if prompted by the driver. The car is so smart, it can even calculate bends and shape your route judging by the position of other vehicles on the road. The luxury sedan also has a remote parking pilot system. This will allow drivers to take the car back into the garage through an app. That is pretty incredible, and will certainly put Mercedes ahead of Audi and BMW.

Autonomous Driving is the Future

Mercedes is hauling in the future by its toes, and it looks amazing. The new E-Class will be on sale in only a few months, and it will kickstart many changes on the roads. Other brands are also lined up to release semi-autonomous cars, and many others are in the works to release before 2020. By the end of the decade, the need for a driver might be lost to much of the developed world, though the same can’t be said for other countries. Still, this is a new era for drivers and driving enthusiasts everywhere.

Volkswagen Group Wants in on SUV Profit

The SUV family at Audi, composed of the Q7 and Q5, is seeing some changes. The car maker is investing $3 billion in 2016 to bring out a Q2 compact SUV and a revamped Q5.

The goal is to penetrate and dominate the crossover market in the future. According to analysts, the amount of car sales in the US are expected to surpass the 2000 record of 17.4 million. Most of this new record will be set by SUVs.

Audi Is Still Aiming for an All-Electric SUV with Audi Q7

Monday’s announcement came accompanied by Audi’s reconfirmation on production of a fully electric SUV. This means they are surely not kidding around. The new vehicle will be based on the Audi e-tron Quattro concept, probably fused with the Q7, which was introduced at the International Motor Show in Frankfurt this past September. This SUV will be setting the bar pretty high, as this car will feature a 311-mile range.

Audio Will Expand Car Roster to 60 in 2016

As May 2015, Audi has 52 cars on their roster. The company announced that they plan on expanding to 60 models. These new models will include seven new plug-in electric vehicles. The car maker’s Q2 crossover already has a confirmed launch date for 2016.

Will Audi be the First Subsidiary to Bounce Back from Volkswagen Scandal?

It looks like Audi will be the first company to recover from Volkswagen huge scandal this year. It’s no surprise that the car maker’s new models will be plug-in and electrics. US authorities found software in certain Volkswagen diesel models that cheated emissions tests. Since then, the company has gone through very drastic changes. After some heavy changes of staff and getting fined up to $18 billion, Volkswagen is giving first signs of change.

Hyundai Becomes Greener And Luxurious to Challenge Audi - http://clapway.com/2015/12/08/hyundai-becomes-greener-and-luxurious-to-challenge-audi123/

Hyundai has big plans for 2015. After ten years of providing affordable and reliable cars, the carmaker hopes to bring out its first plug-in electric car, the Hyundai Ioniq. The South Korean car manufacturer was one of the first to introduce hydrogen fuel cell car. With the ix35 Fuel Cell model 2013, and it’s setting trends once again.

The Ioniq is a Hybrid that Can Become Full Electric

The uniqueness of the Hyundai Ioniq comes from the fact that it can transition from a plug-in hybrid to a fully electric car with no changes to the car’s shape, body work or handling, or on-road behavior. The car will be the first in the automotive industry to have this feature. The Ioniq will debut in South Korea in January of 2016, and will be showcased in motor shows in Geneva and New York throughout March.

4. Hyundai 2

Hyundai Goes Luxurious

The Genesis brand by Hyundai will be the car maker’s first dip into luxury cars. They are entering the executive sedan market, which is already incredibly competitive. In order for Hyundai to ensure good sales, it should have to release a car that can compete with Audi, Mercedes-Benz and Lexus, not to mention Jaguar, Lexus and Cadillac.

It’s possible that the car maker succeeds with their new Genesis line. Their first model, the Hyundai Genesis G90, brings out the car maker’s concept of ‘new luxury’. It will debut in South Korea at the beginning of 2016. The car was designed by Luc Donckerwolke, a Bentley and Lamborghini veteran, and Peter Schreyer, an Audi alum. The car, according to Schreyer, brings new confidence and originality to the Hyundai brand. They hope to introduce the G90 as a desirable car that expresses new charm that the executive sedan class hasn’t seen before. After its debut in South Korea, we can also expect to see this car in motor shows along the west.

Nokia to Make Phones Again Soon - http://clapway.com/2015/06/19/nokia-to-make-phones-soon-again876/

Nokia is back with a bang with its handsets in the global arena

If you thought Nokia‘s only place was in the history books, you were wrong. The company plans to hit the market soon with much vigor and innovation. Nokia, which used to be world’s largest smartphone maker, is planning to design and license its handsets in the market again. It is looking forward to the consent of its partner Microsoft and to getting started afresh in 2016. In recent times, Nokia has been fighting a major battle to keep its business going. The smartphone giant was taken over by Microsoft in 2014.

As per senior experts at Nokia, the company is looking for trusted partners and claims that they will be the ones to design the smartphones and make the Microsoft brand available for license.

Even after market failure, Nokia launched N 1 Android tablet to make its presence felt in the

It was 2014, Microsoft bought the phone business, as the company was failing to keep up its sales after Apple and Android brought about a major storm in the market. For a certain period, Nokia later partnered with a Taiwanese contract manufacturer, Foxconn, to come up with a new brand-licensed tablet. This was an initiative for Nokia to keep up with the tablet and smartphone revolution taking place on a global level.

Nokia is looking to come up with innovations beyond mobile phones

Nokia is searching for partners who can leverage their business and improve it. As per experts, it was expected that Microsoft would write off the entire handset unit it had bought. The financial loss left the company in a ‘money loss’ process, and it could have only 3 percent of the entire smartphone market. As a result, the then-leading Nokia chief executive wanted to to leave the company, because Microsoft was planning to go back to core software services.

Nokia is planning new ventures as it recently announced that it shall take over Alcatel-Lucent (worth $17.8 billion) in order to boost its network equipment. In addition, Nokia is planning to hive off its mapping business, which is already drawing attention from giants like Mercedes, BMW, Audi, and varied Silicon Valley and Chinese web and technology services. Let’s wait and watch the re-evolution of Nokia.
