Lenovo has just unleashed the beast. Their newest tablet… er, I mean phone boasts a massive 7-inch display. Though the iPhone 6 Plus or Galaxy Note 5 were huge? Try one of these bad boys out instead.
LENOVO PHAB PLUS
There wasn’t just one phone announced at Lenovo’s recent press event. There were actually two: The Phab Plus is the smaller of the two phones. It has a 6.8-inch display, sporting a nifty 1920 x 1080 (full HD) display. For anyone too lazy to do the math, that’s about 326 ppi. It’s not the greatest display ever thrown into a phone, but for $299, it ain’t bad either.

Inside the mid-ranged beast is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 octa-core processor, 2GB of RAM, and a 3,500 mAh battery. Given that it’s unlikely this phone will be released here in the US, the phone does support 4G LTE and supports dual nano-SIM cards, but we’re not sure which frequencies it runs on for network compatibility here in the states. Camera-wise, we’re looking at a 13 MP shooter on the back, and a 5 MP front facing camera, which is par for the course nowadays.

Personally, the names sound a bit backwards to me, but the Lenovo Phab is the bigger device here, and this guy is sporting a massive 6.98-inch screen. Now, despite having a larger screen, the Lenovo Phab is actually a low-budget phone. It’s going to run you around $179, and that price tells you pretty much everything you need to know about the device. It has a lower resolution (1,280 x 720), it’s got a Snapdragon 410 quad-core processor, 1GB of RAM, but a whopping 4,250 mAh battery.
TWO WEIRD PHONES
If you haven’t gotten it yet Phab is obviously short for phablet, and that’s exactly what these two phones are. For American markets, these phones are nothing but mystifying: why buy a 7-inch phone when that’s the size of most of the more popular Android tablets?
Well in China, Lenovo’s biggest market, most people tend to buy larger phones because they have to buy their phones outright. That means more money out of their pocket upfront, so the cheapest route is to simply buy a catch-all device, and that’s what phones like this are. They are computers small enough to fit in a small bag, but it can makes calls, text, has a constant stream of data, and has enough screen real estate to be productive.
Neither of these phones will reach American shores through official means, though fans of the devices can import them if they want. Other markets should see the Lenovo Phab and Phab Plus arrive within the next few months.
