A Bit of History before the Oddity
It is a given that human history has been fraught with war and conflicts of all kinds. However, it wasn’t until the twentieth century that the conflict on an atomic level came about.
After the first bomb was launched in Japan during the Second World War, the face of warfare was changed forever. It was during the height of the fear of communism and the tenuous relationship between the U.S and the Soviet Union, the brink of another atomic war seemed to be on the horizon.
Extraterrestrials? The Strange Intervention from Outer Space?
Time passed and other conflicts would take place in history as the pressing issue of the day. However, in an article with the news outlet, Mirror, word came that one particular astronaut believes that the threat of war in the red scare had been abated due to an outside source. This source coming from extraterrestrial life. The astronaut who expressed this was Apollo 14 astronaut Ed Mitchell. Mitchell is mostly known for his trek as an astronaut in the Apollo 14 mission in 1971 and for being the sixth man to walk on the moon. The astronaut had been noted to have an interest in extraterrestrial life.
Getting to Know the Man and the Story
Mitchell also grew up in near where the bomb testing facility occurred in New Mexico occurred as well as renowned UFO sighting location, Roswell. It is during this time of testing that Mitchell expressed his belief that the extraterrestrials were curious about our military abilities. But the extraterrestrials had been trying to prevent a war from occurring in favor of a peaceful existence. Other evidence Mitchell shares that cements this belief is that in several different conversations with individuals working at the missile silos in these time period all expressed UFO sightings as a regular occurrence and often as a resulted in their missiles being disabled. However, because the evidence Mitchell presents came from sources who have reported it to him on their first-hand accounts rather than his own accounts, the credibility is diminished somewhat. Though, it is noted that Mitchell is one not to lie.
Furthermore, the skepticism about the theory is one that is idealistic but is nevertheless intriguing just due to the sightings that occurred near the military bases. But the real question here is whether or not you believe this to be true or is it just another E.T. theory.
