Roche Holding has dropped out of a project to develop antibiotics to treat superbug infections, like typhoid fever, tuberculosis and gonorrhea. This is a win for superbugs and a big loss for the medical community.

Suberbugs Have Fought A Great Fight

Superbug infections are known to adapt to antibiotic treatments quickly and efficiently, forcing doctors and pharmaceuticals to develop a stronger and more effective way of treating them. Roche has decided that the fight is no longer in the company’s best interest to keep fighting.

The company had agreed to pay Polyphor up to 500 million Swiss francs for rights to the new drug to treat superbug infections, but the company has revealed that they will leave the battle to Polyphor. According to the statement, Roche decided that a streamlined development path, which was the initial plan, is no longer feasible for the company.

Superbug Infections Kill Hundreds of Thousands Every Year

Infections like typhoid, resistant to many drugs, tuberculosis and gonorrhea have remarkable antibiotic resistance, so this is a huge setback to the medical community. Infections like these sadly call for continuous research, testing and releasing of new drugs, since they adapt so quickly.

Roche maintains that antimicrobal resistance is a worldwide threat to the public, and that it will continue to focus on them in their infectious disease research and development strategy, but it looks like the superbugs have beat them at their own game. At least for now, Roche is leaving the new antibiotic, which is in phase II clinical trials, to Polyphor.

Phobos and Deios Are Too Aggressive

The Martian moons are currently named Phobos and Deois, meaning panic and dread. While it may serve as a slight reference to Disney’s Hercules for some (though Deios is translated to Pain instead), the moons were named after two gods that permeated terror and violence through Homer’s Iliad.

As Mars is found to be more and more similar to Earth, it’s obvious these names are less than fitting. Granted, Mars’s moon Phobos will have collided with Mars 50 million years from now, which would be a cause for panic, but there’s also a high chance that after collision, it becomes a ring, which could be the perfect opportunity to rename the satellite to something more fitting, more uplifting.

In the case that the planet’s Moon can be renamed, the International Astronomical Union will probably take the pick, though the original names are always given by the person who discovers the astrological object. In any case, Phobos could be even renamed to ‘Boon’, or ‘Doom’ or perhaps, if it does form a ring, The Ring of Gyges to continue in the Greek tradition.

Japan is the only developed country without discrimination laws, but that doesn’t mean that hate speech isn’t prevalent, nor is racism in Japan. In fact, hate speech, bullying and racism are rampant in Japanese culture. The country has always had elevated ideals in terms of the kind of citizens that should be considered Japanese and this doesn’t often include Zainichi, ethnic Koreans that are Japanese citizens, and hafus, biracial Japanese citizens.

The Cases of Discrimination and Racism Are All Around

There have been many cases of outright racism and discrimination between Japanese people and Zainichi. One of the most remarkable ones is Shinhae Lee’s, a freelance journalist who expressed disapproval for one of Japan’s most remarkable extremist groups, the Zaitokukai. After making these claims, she was warned that she was being sent a spike. In Japanese folklore, spikes have the ability to curse someone to death, so Lee was able to witness first hand just what it meant to disapprove of Japanese extremist beliefs.

The threats did not stop there. They spread through social media, which often fires the extremists in people. She was cursed out by people who didn’t know her in the most casual ways. She didn’t fall victim to the hate, though. Instead, she filed a lawsuit against the leader of the Zaitokukai for $45,000.

Japanese: Koreans are Criminals

The way that Japanese people viewZainichi and hafus is a lot like how Donald Trump views Mexicans in America. Tweets expressing hate have called for the Japanese government to expel all Koreans, the good and the bad, and to kill women like Shinhae Lee. Social media makes people invisible, which is probably why declarations are too crude, and it prompts further harassment.

The problem with this kind of claim is that it also instills hate on people who do not understand the issues being dealt with. A fourteen year old Japanese girl took part in a demonstration against the Japanese Immigration Control Act, which gives Zainichi permanent residency status and allows them access to health care, welfare and social security. The girl, much too young to understand the complexity of the issue, cried out that she wanted to kill all Koreans, and proposed a massacre like the Rape of Nanking.

Instead of being corrected, educated, she was received with cheers and applause. This goes to show that racism in Japan is not something that can be taken lightly. Discrimination is in the smallest places, distributed in papers through offices and in questions like ‘do Zainichi even pay taxes?’. The government, despite not having an anti-discrimination policy, is gearing towards some change.

The Japanese Supreme Court forced Zaitokukai to pay $100,000 for harassing Zainichi students at an elementary school in Kyoto, and Osaka has become the first city in Japan to take out hate speech from the street.

Over 10 cities have started implementing anti-hate speech rules in Japan, so it’s possible that the country is seeing more change. A lot of the Japanese population are beginning to embrace what is different, in terms of culture, ethnicity and background. Syapses are necessary for all brain functions, since it connects neurons in the brain, and one of the first signs of Alzheimer’s is the steady loss of these structures. This usually happens when people have only mild cognitive impairment.

This new discovery told the researchers, led by Dr. Vladimir Sytnyk, to find a new molecular mechanism that can prevent this synapse loss, which can help better diagnose Alzheimer’s and develop better treatments for it.

This new discovery, which centers around the protein NCAM2, is a neural cell adhesion molecule. This protein helps the formation of synapses and eases the connections in the brain. This protein has been found in low levels in the hippocampus, which leads the team to believe that the protein decreases in number as Alzheimer’s sets in. This is because of the toxic effects of beta-amyloid.

On being forced out, Blackberry has simply stated that giving in to the Pakistani government’s demands would mean compromising user privacy, and that is just a sacrifice that they are not willing to make. The Pakistan government is looking to be granted all access to encrypted traffic going through Blackberry’s Enterprise Service, including emails and BBM messages. Blackberry, who has a significant market in Pakistan, will simply not comply.

More than 125 Nations Are Participating in the Conference

The result of the conference, according to analysts, will likely be something similar to the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade after World War II. This encouraged nations to negotiate with each other and form agreements to lower trade barriers. With over 125 countries participating, there can be a lot of positive initiative to start making some changes.

The Countries With Highest Rates of Emissions Are Already Pledging Change

The United States is already on board, promising to cut their greenhouse gas emissions by 26%-28% from 2005 levels by 2025, and China promises to peak their emissions within 15 years, and increase the use of renewable energy nationwide and setting a carbon price. In Europe, there is already a carbon-price in place, and the participating European countries are promising to cut greenhouse gas emissions by 40% from their 1990 by 2030.

The target is to keep global warming below 2C, and 2.7C is a much closer target and a much more feasible one. The Paris climate conference, if it is more than talk, can bring the world closer to cutting down climate change and reduce the warming of the oceans.

With the increasing rate of obesity in the United Kingdom, many children are unable to participate in the active parts of their education. British people are citing food and drink advertisements as one of the leading causes of the gluttony that springs obesity, as well as product placements in TV shows. They’re calling for the government to impose a ‘sugar tax’ on soft drinks and a general tax on unhealthier foods so people are less compelled to buy them.

The secret to the success of junk food is accessibility. People can get a complete meal (though some will argue that it’s mostly empty calories) for less than $5, and although its at the expense of people’s cholesterol and glucose levels, it’s easy, it’s fast and it’s cheap. Imposing a tax on these foods that will make it just as expensive as a salad at a coffee shop will make people think about the choices they’re making.

Famous English Chef Jamie Oliver will be taking part on a discussion about bringing down the rate of obesity in the UK at Parliament. The people are encouraging telling people just how much sugar goes into a single can of soda. He will be joined by Helen Jones, chairman of the British Petitions Committee and Dr. Sarah Wollaston, chairman of the Health Committee.

Specifically, they’re calling for a 20% sugar tax on sodas, a ban on guilt lanes (the racks of sweets and sodas just before the cash register) on supermarkets and other grocery establishments, as well as a halt on any ‘buy one, get one free’ sales on junk food. They also call for a change in the advertisements played on TV, especially during times when popular TV shows like the X-Factor and football matches are on so that there is a limited number of advertisements with junk food and fizzy drinks.

In a surprising turn, they’re also calling for a comedown with the cartoons normally associated with junk foods, such as the Kellogg’s cartoons and the Dairylea cow, which target children and entice them into asking to buy these unhealthy foods. The committee is also demanding a label on all sugary foods stating exactly how much sugar spoonfuls there are in each serving of the product, and they’re calling for an end to free soda refills at restaurants, fast food chains and cinemas, and an end to supersized portions.

The demands posed by the committee are somewhat strict, but could prove to be effective. According to the World Health Organization, 74% of British men and 64% of British women will be obese by 2030, so it’s only natural that the UK takes preventative measures, but it’s worth noting that most of the demands will do all countries a world of good.

Amazon has announced that they will be offering unlimited storage through their Amazon Cloud Drive platform for one year for only $5. This is $55 cheaper than Amazon’s usual price of $60 a year. Amazon is calling this a Black Friday promotion, but this will last for one full year which is absolutely amazing.

Amazon’s usual price of $59.99 a year for their Cloud Drive is already pretty good, but $5 for the entire year is completely awesome. The fact that they offer unlimited storage is the big kicker, though. Per sources, Apple’s iCloud and Dropbox Pro are limited to 1 TB of storage space. Also, just recently Microsoft announced that they had to reduce their OneDrive storage from unlimited to 1 TB because they said users were abusing the unlimited storage. That is also something Amazon will have to be careful of with their Amazon Cloud Drive, especially considering it is only $5 for the whole year. Customers are going to be all over this deal, so there is a real possibility that Amazon’s Cloud Drive could experience users abusing the unlimited storage. Hopefully, this is not the case for Amazon, but they need to be prepared in case it does.

There has not been much information to be said about this computer yet, but a photo has been released and it sure does look like the ultimate gaming machine with a front that glows green and an underneath that reflects a rainbow. Now obviously, looks are not everything, but knowing how good Lenovo is at making computers and how good Razer is at making gaming devices it can be assumed that the hardware will be fantastic. More details will be revealed soon as it has been announced that this beast is expected to launch in the first quarter of 2016.

It is honestly hard to imagine a better partnership than this one. Both companies want to expand their businesses and they can complement each other perfectly. It appears like Japan does not really care about the global ban on whales. It has been reported that they will continue their hunting of them after a 365-day drought. They seem convinced about the idea that whales don’t deserve to live. It has been announced that they will only do it, however, on a limited level and it will not be a full on whale killing spree.

SO MANY DISAGREE WITH JAPAN KILLING WHALES

There are many environmental groups and various governments that completely disagree with what Japan is doing. The UK and Australian governments spoke out about what they are doing and discussed their feelings about what they are doing and they were not very nice comments. Many people do not see the need of killing these whales, but it just does not seem like they care that much.

It has been reported that Japan is already getting their whaling boats set and ready to sale. It is also said that they will be back in the oceans in a week or two. Japan has gone on record and explained how their killing of whales is merely scientific, but does that explain why they are reportedly getting eaten? This seems fishy, no pun intended, and it does not seem they are giving the full insight.

WHY IS JAPAN ALLOWED TO KILL WHALES?

The big question that needs to be asked is why on earth Japan can hunt whales? It is said that there is a global ban on them, so how are they getting around this? It is possible that the ban has a statement for this, but it seems odd they can be allowed to do it. They had a huge drought as it was announced that they had not hunted them for a whole year, but that must not have meant much because they are instantly back at it again. This all seems wrong, but obviously nobody is stopping Japan because they have announced their about ready to kill whales again and nothing has happened to stop them.

There has not been any official news on whether this is true, whether or not the device will actually be called Nokia C1, or what the smartphone will officially look like. There have been leaked images across the web, but they are all different and are not official.

Again, there are only rumors spreading across the web that the Nokia C1 will include both Windows 10 and an Android OS. Nokia has not officially announced if their device will have a version with the Windows 10 operating system, but if it is true, then it will make it better instantly. Microsoft announced their newest OS, Windows 10, a while ago and it was just recently released. It is all up to the opinion, but in this author’s view Microsoft makes the best operating systems on the market. So for Nokia to develop one of their devices with Windows 10 would be a great idea. Not much has been revealed about Nokia’s new phone as we speak, but it was announced a couple of years ago that Nokia did sell its smartphone business to Microsoft. Also, with that being the case, a question remains: why is Microsoft interested in making Nokia phones with Windows? It would be nice to see Microsoft’s answer to it.

Whenever Nokia decides to release their new smartphone, if it does indeed have Windows, it can be guaranteed that it will make a splash on the market. It does not appear that Nokia has a lot done on their phone at the moment, or they are just not revealing anything. If the Windows rumor is true, it sounds like they will release their smartphone with the option of Windows 10 or Android OS. That would be pretty awesome to be able to pick what operating system you want for your phone, but again nothing is official yet.

The rise of carbon dioxide will only make global warming worse because one of the biggest factors of global warming is carbon dioxide. They go hand in hand, and if CO2 is increasing, then it is for sure that global warming will be worse. This then makes it even harder for humans to live when carbon dioxide continues to rise. Global warming can not be ignored when the topic of carbon dioxide is talked about and that alone may make this rise of CO2 bad.

COLUMBIA’S STUDY ON THE NORTHERN LIGHTS

Columbia has stated that the main reason behind the northern lights possibly moving to the south is due to the fact that the magnetic field of the Earth is weakening. The researchers at Columbia Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory explained that as the magnetic field of the planet continues to weaken that the waves of charged particles will likely be affected in how they bounce off of the field. One of the experts at Columbia, Dennis Kent, further explained that the Earth’s magnetic field keeps the solar wind at bay and that the solar wind interacting with the field contributes to the northern lights. He then went on to say that the reason it will go south within the next couple of decades is because with a weaker field the lights will not be pushed to high altitudes. They have mentioned how evidence has already been revealed. The Columbia team mentions how the northern lights have been spotted in places like Ottawa and that means that it is moving south, but could take a long time.

The Columbia team also mentioned some very interesting news that the magnetic field of the earth actually flips occasionally. They have determined that earlier research suggests that the earth has undergone hundreds of polarity reversals in the last 100 million years and they also stated that the last time it happened was 780,000 years ago. However, they have mentioned that something like this is not likely to happen anytime soon. We will have to see if Columbia’s research team is on point in due time, but for now we can only speculate that their research is accurate. No matter what, though, it will be cool to see if the northern lights transform into the southern lights.

Diabetes is a horrible disease and any way to prevent it is going to be a good thing. Well, it looks like a recent study might have just given the world another way to stop diabetes. A recent study showed that the consumption of walnuts will help reduce the chances of a person developing type 2 diabetes.

THE OFFICIAL STUDY ON WALNUTS HELPING AGAINST DIABETES

The lead author for this study was David Katz, an MD at Yale University, and he stated that they tested 31 men and 81 women in the age group of 25-75 who all were at risk for type 2 diabetes. Katz said that every day they had half of the patients eat walnuts every day for 180 days and the others did not partake it eating the walnuts. Katz stated that after the test was done the reported level of bad cholesterol in the patients who consumed walnuts every day had lowered and their blood vessel function was improved. Katz explained that the walnuts have a unique nutritional level which gives them advantages that other nuts do not have. He also went on to state that this was one of the few times that they have done an isolation test with only one nut. He also said that after the 180 day period ended, they waited 12 weeks and the participants who did not eat the nuts would now eat the nuts.

This is really an eye-opening test as this will give people who are at risk for type 2 diabetes a legitimate solution to help prevent it. However, this test was on people who were at risk and was not on people who actually had type 2 diabetes. This means that another test would have to be done with people who actually have type 2 diabetes. Who knows, the people who did the study might just end up doing that in the future. There is only one way to answer the question of if walnuts are the cure, and that is to test it.

Tennessee residents are living a horror movie as we speak, and it is not a very good one. Residents in Tennessee have noted how their state is being overtaken by spiders and that there are spider webs almost everywhere they walk. You could almost call them Tennessee spiders! There can not be a worse hell than being completely surrounded by spider webs and spiders.

It was said by some of the people living there that there was literally a half a mile of long spider webs and that they had spider webs all over their bodies. You want to talk about completely and utterly awful. Residents have also said they have seen their Tennessee spiders all around their homes, offices, shops, and in the air. They have stated as seeing hundreds in one day and they see them everywhere they turn. Obviously, residents have reported as being outraged with this epidemic and want the officials to immediately start cleaning up the area and eliminate the spiders. Nobody can blame them for being outraged, as there is only a handful of things worse than being surrounded by spiders all day. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of the residents in Tennessee as the spider epidemic for them is a living hell.

Words can not describe how disgusting and disturbing this story is. Not only that, but there is a handful of spiders that are poisonous and this could turn out to be dangerous as well. There is no official report on what is being done to clear this, but it can be imagined that it will not be an easy process. However, Tennessee needs to do whatever it takes for its residents because they deserve better than this. Yet another company has announced a recall on one of their vehicles. Chrysler full-size vans are being recalled for what is being reported as inadvertent ignition switches. The FCA US LLC has announced that they are voluntarily recalling them and that there are an estimated 16,114 full-size fans that need to be repaired.

THE ISSUE WITH THESE FULL-SIZE VANS

The reason for this recall is because of problems within the ignition, says the FCA. An FCA US investigation confirmed that the vans are equipped with components within the ignition that could end leading to the loss of electrical contact. The FCA continued and said that this condition was traced to a supplier’s manufacturing process and could cause power loss to the vans in danger. This is clearly a huge problem that can not be overlooked because the loss of power within a car would be terrible. As of this moment, the company has not been aware of any related injuries or death due to this problem, but it is better to fix it before a travesty occurs. It has also been stated that all customers who purchased a full-size van with this ignition problem will be advised when they can schedule their service. A company recalling a vehicle is certainly not rare considering that no company is perfect and they all make mistakes.

It has been said before and will be said again, it is better for a company to recall their vehicles to fix their problems than for them to just leave them and allow their customers to experience the issues and potentially be in danger. It has also been announced that they will be fixed for free, so that is also a huge positive for customers. Of course, if a company did indeed charge their customers for them to fix the problems with their product it would be asinine. Cortana will act as a virtual assistant app for users. It is said that people can create reminders, perform quick Internet searches, schedule and track appointments, compose email and other messages, and any other basic feature through voice command. This app will most likely not be able to absolutely insane tasks, but any reasonable and basic task it should be able to perform with ease. It is said that right now Microsoft is trying to determine whether or not Cortana will respond like a human assistant. This beta version is a chance for users to get a taste on what it this app will be about. Microsoft even tested their users and asked them to judge whether or not the experience of having a virtual assistant made their personal experience feel any more realistic. Microsoft seems determined to make this new app the best virtual assistant app on the market.

The scientists that performed this experiment said that they tested around 56 patients who were excessive drug users, and also 43 patients who had never done drugs. Paola Dazzan, a neurobiologist at Kings College, stated that their team of scientists said that they noticed the patients who used heavy doses of cannabis had a significant effect on their white matter fibres in the brain. Dazzan then concluded that the more cannabis one smokes, the more damage to the brain there will be. So, this leads to another very interesting question; is medical marijuana a good solution? One of the key aspects that need to be taken away from the study done at Kings College is the use of the word high-potency. Medical marijuana was never met to be taken in high doses, and if it is then brain damage can be expected. Just as is the case with so many other products, if medical marijuana is taken the way it was intended, as a medicine, it should not result in brain damage.

Dazzan has also stated that they most important factor to remember when taking medical marijuana is how much one takes and what type. Any drug can be abused by its patients, and all of them can cause side effects, but overdosing on medical marijuana is much more dangerous than any drugs. The scientists behind this study did not officially say why they ran these tests, but maybe they were trying to send a message to anyone who overdoses on is what is only supposed to be a medicine. Others have also pointed out that the space mining could damage the environment surrounding the Earth as well. OnePlus stated that the issue is not with OnePlus 2 devices, but they do not hold up well with no-OnePlus devices. The issue was fully described by Pei. Pei states how their cable uses a 10k resistor, but he stated that according to version 1.1 it should be 56k. Per details, The Nature Communications Journal stated that the more fat stored in a person’s body the harder it will be for that person to lose weight. Some researchers working from the University of Cambridge stated how the fat cells stored in our bodies in large numbers triggers the production of protein, which then inhibits the body’s ability to burn fat. They stated how this is the main reason why it is difficult for overweight people to lose weight. It is hard for everyone to lose weight, but overweight people seem to have the shorter stick. It has been reported that this new partnership will focus on researching and deploying brand new sources of carbon-free energy. Bill Gates has announced that he will be funding it along with several other philanthropists. On top of this, the United States and India have reportedly agreed to double their research and development for clean energy research. He has almost started a new revelation with this as everyone is seeming to join him in this quest. Bill Gates said in a 2010 TED Talk that his sole purpose is to allow humanity to reach zero global carbon emissions within the next 35 years. This goal will require a lot from everyone and Bill Gates donating a reported $2 billion will help tremendously. It is clear that he is ready to advance this project and there is probably not a man alive that has more money to spend them him.

Facebook has just recently released what is called the SDK for tvOS and this will allow it so the Facebook login does not have to be entered manually. Details say that Facebook will now allow you to integrate it’s SDK in any apps so that way the login feature can be accessed. So basically what happens is the screen will tell you to check your phone to log in to Facebook and then you will be required to enter an eight character confirmation code to complete the process and associate your Facebook account with you Apple TV. It is also reported that YouTube is doing the same thing as Facebook, so this same process can be done with the YouTube App. It is also said that you will be able to share pictures, music, videos, and any other media with this Facebook login. Apple TV users can now breathe a sigh of relief as this new feature will end up making lives easier for them.

The Tesla Model X has not shipped as many cars as they probably would have liked to. It was revealed on Thanksgiving just how behind Tesla really is on their Tesla Model X cars. Tesla Motors reportedly released six Founder’s Editions of the Model X on September 29^th and only seven have been released since then which is absolutely astonishing.

THE TESLA MODEL X IS NOT WHAT WAS ANTICIPATED

Per details, there are only 13 Founder’s Editions of the Model X on the market, but there were apparently rumored to be more. However, this has obviously not come to fruition and Tesla Motors has not been able to release as many Model X’s as they have wanted to. Tesla has not revealed why production is so slow, but it is obvious that their intent is to produce more than just 13 cars. There is no way that that was the plan when they started making the Model X cars. There is good news for Tesla however as Dan Galves of Credit Suisse, says that Tesla’s shares have a five percent share increase and that Tesla will meet its shipment targets for the fourth quarter of the year. Hopefully, this prediction is correct because 13 cars released is just simply not going to do it. You would think that Tesla would be able to manufacture more than just 13 measly cars.

WILL THE TESLA MODEL X RIGHT THE SHIP?

Only time will tell and answer this question, but Tesla probably has a good idea if they will or not. January will be the next time where the world can see if Tesla succeeded and if they met their own personal quota. Reasons for their poor production are still unknown which makes this question even harder to answer. However, patience is a virtue in this case and Tesla must produce more cars in the fourth quarter of the year or it could be bad news for them.

Mozilla seems to have a lot of pride and ego when it comes to them and Google. Now this is just speculation, but it seems like the company is coming off a little bit arrogant. Mozilla has stated that they are fully confident in their Firefox web browser and that they are a more flexible company. This is coming straight from Mozilla’s mouth and it seems like they now have a chip on their shoulder because they do not need Google anymore? However, do these still need Google? Mozilla will most likely be fine by themselves, but Google is one of the biggest companies in the entire world and their revenue can not help but to be missed. CFO James Cook did not seem to worry though with his comments. Cook stated that Firefox looks forward to seeing the 2015 revenue statistics to prove their continued track record of good revenue. Does that sound like confidence or arrogance? The answer is up to interpretation.

With Mozilla seemingly happier now that they ate away from Google, the question begs: who is better? Both of these companies are very popular and successful, and both have top notch web browsers in Chrome and Firefox respectively. The answer of who is better is all about preference and does not have one answer. What should be said is both companies are successful and they will most likely continue to be successful barring anything catastrophic. It also seems like there might be a hint of hostility, but that could be just an assumption. One thing that can be known is Google helped out Mozilla all of these years. The company should be and most likely is thankful for it.

Russia has absolutely every right in the world to want revenge on Turkey for what they did to them. It has been reported that both world leaders have requested both sides to avoid any sort of physical altercation. However, it has been reported that the Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev ordered his government to hurt Turkey in a different way than physical altercation and that is to take away some of their resources. Medvedev stated that he ordered them to halt some joint investment projects and also to restrict any sort if imports to Turkey. Another economy minister, Alexei Ulyukayez, said that they will seize preparations for a joint free trade zone and also restrict any high-profile projects which would include a $20 billion nuclear power plant they are building in Turkey and the TurkStream gas pipeline. It has also been announced by Russia that they have officially suspended all communication and cooperation with the Turkish military. To say that Russia is fed up is an understatement and Turkey may have just made a vital mistake.

William Laurance, from James Cook University, has stated that Africa is planning on getting 33 corridors and that this will be the biggest thing to hit Africa. This will be a huge revelation for the country of Africa, but they will most likely see the side effects of modernization. Laurance has stated that some of the corridors will be a good thing, but he also mentions that some of them could be extremely disastrous to the environment. This basically means that they will be taking a chance either way with some of the new corridors. Could this possibly lead to Africa shutting down some of these corridors that may prove to be dangerous to the environment? It very well could, but time will only tell for them. However, the corridors that do not disrupt the environment should end up being fine. Modernization is always a good thing for countries to do, but there are always side effects to modernization. Reports have also pointed out that Africa’s population is also increasing, so the need for more food is required.

The organisation released a report that stated that by 2050 the amount of women in Africa who get married as children could end up doubling. THE RAPID INCREASE OF CHILD MARRIAGE IN AFRICA

Not only is their planned to be a increase of women married as children in Africa, but per UNICEF there is also planned to be an enormous amount of increased population of women. UNICEF has reported that there are approximately 275 million women living in Africa today and they say that that number could be increased to 465 million women by 2050. If UNICEF is correct about their report, then it would only make sense for the amount of married children to rise as well. It is truly amazing to think just how many women get married before they turn 18 and it is also amazing to think that that number could double. It will be interesting to see if Africa changes there marriage policy if this does indeed happen. If they do not, then there could be a problem in the making for them, at least that is what UNICEF has stated.

UNICEF had some pretty detailed words on how they felt about child marriage. The organisation stated that when a girl gets married the prospect for here to have a successful life go down drastically and the chance for a HIV increase as well. The United Nations Children’s Fund also mentioned that they are more likely to be victims of violence and have various issues during childbirth and other things. UNICEF certainly did not hold back when they discussed their dislike towards women getting married as children. Their words could be taken harshly, but they have a legitimate point about this subject. UNICEF also stated that women who marry as children are less likely to finish school and get a proper education. All of the points that the fund points out deserve serious thought and all of them could be true.

However, Stanford research has done some studying on the textbooks used by middle schoolers in California and many members have stated that they are interpreting climate change as much weaker than it actually is.

The Stanford research team wrote a paper about this problem and one of their biggest problems was that the textbooks used by the middle school students in California were reflecting the topic of climate change as a public debate rather than a scientific reality. K.C. Busch, a doctoral candidate in science education from Stanford, stated that the textbooks used poor language choices and that the text portrayed the problem wrongly. She mentioned how the text books are portraying questions such as: is climate change actually happening, are humans causing it, and what the effects will be? The paper published went on to point out the kinds of words the text books were using that should have been different. The textbooks used words such as could, might, or may and those words all emphasize possibility. This is the Stanford researchers team biggest issue with these textbooks and the reason they believe California students may be being taught wrong about climate change.

There is always two sides to every story and this story is certainly no different. As mentioned earlier, the subject of climate change is going to be one that gets multiple perspectives and opinions. It is a very sensitive subject to most people, while other people could not care less. It is difficult to pick a side, but the Stanford research team is most likely filled with the best of the best when it comes to science. Stanford is a very illustrious university and they know what they are talking about. However, whether there right about this idea of California schools teaching their kids wrong is debatable. Either way, the question that the Stanford researcher team developed about the way climate change is being portrayed in California schools is one that should be thought of with great thought.

TOYOTA SHOWS THEY CARE ABOUT THE DISABLED

For anyone who does not know what the Paralympic Games are, they are basically Olympic games for the disabled and they give the disabled a chance to compete in a major multi-sport event. This is a great way for the disabled to participate and feel like they are apart of a group. Toyota must have decided that they wanted to lend a helping hand with this ordeal. This will also only help the company as a whole as it will show people that they are willing to participate in an event like this. Toyota’s president mentioned how the main reason for this agreement is because they are eager to help out those who are disabled and need it. Both sides are no doubt thrilled with this agreement. On the one hand, the company gets to help out the disabled and on the other hand, the IPC gets assistance from a huge company in Toyota. This will undoubtedly end up being a tremendous decision for both companies.

WHAT THIS MEANS FOR TOYOTA

As mentioned earlier, this will only help Toyota because not only will they be doing a good cause, but that will make their company look even better. Now one could say that maybe Toyota is just doing this to get more popularity within themselves, but it is not likely considering the mutual respect that the two companies showed each other in their respective letters. However, that is all speculation and hopefully that is not the case because it should not be about that.
