Five Tips For a Healthy Body and Mind - http://clapway.com/2015/10/11/five-tips-for-a-healthy-body-and-mind123/

Remaining in tip-top shape, mentally and physically, is incredibly important in the society we live in today. It’s even more important if you want to keep your days filled with adventure after adventure while also possessing the energy to travel around the world. Everyday, billboards and advertisements guide us in immeasurable ways that we don’t fully notice. On a daily basis, we are told what we should eat, how we should look, what’s good for our bodies, and so on. This constant waterfall of ideology that isn’t our own is blinding and disables us from properly thinking for ourselves about what our bodies and mind truly need. These five tips for a healthy body and mind will be helpful reminders in allowing you to get – or stay – healthy for each and every unique adventure you conquer.

1. Sleep
Sleep is incredibly important, but I’m sure you already knew that. The amount of zzz’s you get a night relates to the amount of serotonin (we like to call them happy cells) your body produces to blood sugar management and overall immunity. A good night’s sleep is essential: like a battery, it recharges you for your next adventure. However, contrary to popular opinion, the more sleep you get isn’t always necessarily the better. Find out how many hours make you feel at your best and stick with it.

2. Snacks for the Wise
We eat a lot in one day, and a lot of what we eat, we don’t even realize we’re consuming. Artificial sugars and eight syllable words of who-knows-what on processed cans are just two of the many items we intake on a daily basis. We’re not exactly advocating a vegan lifestyle, but we are endorsing healthier choices. Add a side of greens. Rethink dessert. Say no to cheese and bacon on your fries…or at least think about saying no.

3. Water

Good old H2O is the body’s best friend. Proper hydration is a must in keeping all systems of your body healthy. Precisely eight to 10 ounces a day is what’s recommended. But don’t wait till you’re thirsty to drink some water, because that just means you’re already dehydrated. Woops!

4. Exercise

Like Nike would say: Just Do It.

5. Build Goals

Write down what you want to accomplish in the next month or year, and then, get to work. Moving toward a better version of yourself can only be beneficial. Seeing what you want written down on paper makes it real. It makes it tangible and in your hands. Whether you want to cut down on drinking, change career paths, or simply be kinder, the decision to progress will always be and remain in your hands.

Why you should #fast for #Ramadan or otherwise. - http://clapway.com/2015/07/13/the-benefits-of-fasting-a-study-on-ramadan-235/

The well-known Muslim holiday Ramadan is close to an ending, so it follows that a research regarding how healthy fasting is would have been done. The results of this study show the benefits people might get from fasting for Ramadan.

Ramadan is the holiest month in the Islamic calendar. During this month, people fast in order to purify their body and mind. But fasting is not all they need do. Abstinence from sex, as well as smoking and even avoiding gossips and bad language are mandatory. People should concentrate on personal reflection and prayer.

Fasting is Healthy for Both Body and Mind

Muslims all over the world celebrate a month of fasting, and as new studies say, this has a positive influence, not just for the body, but also for the mind.

According to scientists, Ramadan fasting brings with it not only religious reasons but also benefits to people’s health. A nutritionist observed people who were fasting, and the conclusion was quite unexpected for more people who believed that this habit could be quite dangerous.

Fasting Helps You Clean Your System

In accordance to the nutritionists’ declarations, people who are fasting have the ability to significantly diminish the percentage of their body fat. Furthermore, they are able to detoxify their entire system.

But this is not all. It seems that because people refrain from eating various unhealthy foods, as well as other things they use to do, fasting offers them the chance to put an end to many of the self-destructive habits. For example, it is much easier to quit both smoking and drinking.

A Healthy Mind in a Healthy Body

As many people already know, Ramadan also prohibits people not only to behave badly but also to use profane language. You might not see the benefit of these prohibitions, at first glance. However, as researchers confirm, “clean spirit principles” have a great effect on people’s health. Following strong principles, allows people to learn how to control their social behavior and willpower. This will also improve relationships and human connections.

Furthermore, the studies showed that that fasting enhance the possibility of preventing brain aging which could damage nerve cells like in the case of Parkinson’s disease and Alzheimer’s disease.
