#Google has had quite a busy week filled with updates. Now you can open #GoogleDocs, use the #VoiceTyping functionality and type up an essay with your voice. - http://clapway.com/2015/09/04/google-docs-voice-typing123/

This week has been pretty busy for technology giant, Google. Not only did it unveil a new logo, the company has also introduced a feature that will allow users to type up an essay or assignment using their voice.

NEW FEATURES INCLUDE VOICE TYPING

The company added what is called “voice typing” to Google Docs. Now, you just open a new document, click on the Tools menu and select “Voice typing.” After that, just click on the microphone tab and you’re ready to start. According to Google, this new voice typing functionality will be supporting more than 40 different languages.

In addition, Google recently added some powerful new features to its cloud-based office suite to make some applications more appealing to those in the classroom. Unfortunately, Google Docs word processor is not yet set in place for Android, and can only be accessed by desktop users who use Google Chrome’s browser.

Although the new voice typing feature in Google will make it easier to type up an assignment, it cannot tell you what punctuation marks are needed or where they will go. Users will have to dictate where commas, periods and other punctuation marks are placed. The technology would be ideal for individuals in business meeting who need to take notes.

ALONG WITH VOICE TYPING, GOOGLE ALSO UPDATES SLIDES, DOCS AND SHEETS

Google has also made a few other improvements to the platform as well. The Google Docs’ Android app has a new research feature that allows you to pull in facts, quotes, images and more from Google search. Google Sheets also features innovative visualization tools for all of data display and the company has added pre-designed templates for Google Sheets, Docs and Slides.

NEW GOOGLE FEATURES TARGETED TOWARDS CLASSROOM

Google’s new “research” feature in Docs will allow users to surf the web without having to minimize the word processor application and switch to the browser. This feature will be extremely helpful to students who use tablets in a classroom. By default, the SafeSearch is on and only the images that are tagged as “licensed for reuse” will show up in search results. This feature is similar to the strategy Microsoft employed for Bing search images from office suite.
