The unveiling of the new #Verizon #logo comes shortly after the announcements of #Google doing the same. - http://clapway.com/2015/09/03/new-verizon-logo-unveiled-google-099/

Apparently this week is a good week for companies to reinvent themselves and rehash logos. In addition to Google shifting their corporate image’s theme, Verizon Communications, (not Verizon Wireless which is a subsidiary and separate company), has announced a new logo. The old logo is still on almost all of the things that Verizon owns at this time. The new logo was introduced to the employees of Verizon and the new logo will be unveiled at the Verizon headquarters in Basking Ridge, NJ. On September 3rd, 2015.

VERIZON LOGO UPDATE COMES DAYS AFTER GOOGLE LOGO UPDATE

The unveiling of the new Verizon logo comes shortly after the announcements of Google using a new logo. The large tick that was on top of Verizon’s name is now gone, as well as the italics in the lettering. Another thing that was changed was getting rid of the letter “Z”. The new Verizon logo features a simpler and cleaner design. This new logo is described by Verizon as a way to visually identify the beginning of a new chapter in the Verizon history. According to Verizon, this will also show the customers that they are still dedicated to providing them with quality services and care.

NEW VERIZON LOGO REPRESENTS NEW IDENTITY

According to the official Verizon blog post, this new brand identity will be the very thing that incorporates the best elements of Verizon’s history and heritage. These things are represented by the colors and checkmark that are widely associated with Verizon, and turns them into things that can be utilized for the next generation.

NEW LOGO AS A VISUAL STATEMENT

This new logo will be a visual statement that will show appreciation to the society that utilizes Verizon. It will also be ideal for the new identity that Verizon is attempting to create, that includes honesty, simplicity and joy. The new logo is a little cleaner, and features a much less robotic design. The standard Verizon checkmark, what they call the universal symbol for completion, still expresses the reliability that Verizon has.

In a time where all of Verizon’s competitors are heading towards brighter colors and fancier, louder designs, their decision to simplify their logo is quite a bold decision to make. Only time will tell how this works out for them.
