Facebook Will Start Supporting Non-Profits - http://clapway.com/2015/11/19/facebook-will-start-supporting-non-profits123/

After the Social Good team was introduced by Facebook almost two months ago, Facebook is taking things to the next level. It’s introducing a Donate button to fundraiser pages and nonprofit organizations.

People can now choose to make Fundraiser pages, where nonprofit organizations can raise money for specific campaigns to fight disease, refugee crises or to raise money for a particular cause. These pages will also include a Donate button, which had been previously reserved for ads, making users able to donate directly to these nonprofits at the click of a button.

Fundraiser pages look a lot like event pages, and they let nonprofits boost awareness of their specific campaigns and collect donations from Facebook users. Like some crowdfunding sites, it’ll display a progress graph to the nonprofit’s goal, which is a strategy that has been working well for places like Indiegogo and Kickstarter to encourage giving and monitor progress.

The Donate Button Has Since Made it to Mercy Corps and World Wildlife Fund

Nonprofits are already showing off the new Donate button, with a total of 37 organizations having joined, including (RED), charity: water, RAINN, UNICEF and Water.org. These organizations are joining the program free of charge, though it’s possible that Facebook instills a fee for new nonprofits to join in the near future.

The Goal is to Break Even, Not Make Profit

In a statement, Facebook announced their excitement for this new program, which encourages both nonprofits to use the social networking site as a way to spread the word about their work, and also to reach out to users and make it easier for them to give. This tremendous step is making Facebook look more of an overpowering social networking website than ever before.
