Google Photos, which now features over 100 million users, is getting an update that will help users free up phone storage. The update is currently only available for Android users, but it helps users bulk delete their photos and get some storage space back.

Google Web Also Helps You Free Up Storage
Google Photos isn’t alone in the fight against ‘storage almost full’ notifications. Google account holders can now downgrade image qualities in their accounts they’re running low on storage. And all it takes is the click of the ‘Free Up Space’ button on the Settings page.
The feature only deletes pictures that have already been backed up online, which minimizes risk of increasing storage at the cost of user files. Google Photos is also bringing in an Assistant, which helps users navigate Google Photos more seamlessly. It can even build GIFs out of your images or make a montage out of them. It also serves as the new storage notification system, and lets you know when and if your storage is nearing its limit.

Google Photos: No Announcement on iOS Update
Google only announced that the Google Photos update will be rolling out to iOS users soon, which means that they won’t have access to these perks for the time being. Meanwhile, Android mobile users and web users will have access to this update as of Wednesday, November 18.
