Snapchat first introduced in-app purchases with replays, and now it’s extending in-app purchases with the arrival of Snapchat Lens Store. The store’s been released today, and it’s supposed to offer users the best way to spice their selfies. Lenses have been available for some time, seven at a time and free of charge, but there will be 30 extra options available for pay. Once purchased for $.99 (plus tax), users get to keep them forever.

The new in-app purchases are available in the United States, Canada, UK, Australia, Brazil Saudi Arabia and some European countries. Snapchat is looking to expand the feature worldwide.
Selfie Enthusiasts Should Get the Snapchat Update
The update is available through iTunes or Google Play, and in addition to the new lenses, Snapchat is adding ‘Official Stories’ to thei rapp, which allows users to see and follow verified celebrity accounts.
Celebrity presence has increased on Snapchat recently, as well as people posing as celebrities, and much like Instagram and Twitter, Snapchat is looking to verify official accounts to avoid confusion among users.
Why Snapchat is Charging for Lenses
The Lenses feature on Snapchat caused a stir since its inception; this feature is arguably what made Snapchat unique and fun, and the fact that the company is now charging users for their use might generate some profit despite the hate that might bubble.
Of course nothing that’s good is free, and Snapchat has shown ample proof of it. The great thing is, people are more than willing to spend 99c for it if it means better selfies.
