Top 5 Places to Get the Best Out of Fall - http://clapway.com/2015/10/15/top-5-places-get-best-fall/

Fall is here and in full swing!

Autumn is arguably the most beautiful time of year. Sure, spring has its virtues, but fall brings what the fruit of the buds from the spring, so it’s as if spring was a part of autumn. This also goes for summer and winter.

It’s mid-October, and in the Northeast at least, people are still wearing short sleeves. I’m fairly sure that by November, their will be snow, absolutely everything will come pumpkin spiced in some way, and if you don’t enjoy that, you can always find apple anything instead.

I would just like to add that technically fall ends on December 21st, so you get to enjoy many of the holiday activities as well, that winter seems to hold claim to. That belongs to gall, guys.

All of this is wonderful, but what I noticed that people loved most about this season was the foliage that you find transforming from a vibrant green to a variety of miraculous colors. To experience the best possible views of this natural fall display, I compiled a list of the top 5 places to visit and activities you can do so you can experience Autumn at its peak!

1. Ill start with an obvious place, New York City. Meg Ryan’s character Kathleen Kelly exclaims in the movie You’ve Got Mail, ‘Don’t you just love New York in the Fall?’ Yes Kathleen, we do. Millions of tourists go to visit all of New York City’s fall festivities, including take a trip to Central Park, in order to see the contrast of the leaves changing colors amidst the towering skyscrapers. Also, as soon as Halloween is over, you see a bunch of holiday markets cropping up in various parks, which is always a fun Fall activity.

2. It’s hard to choose just one national park, so we’ll list several. The West Coast’s Redwood Forest. This is fall foliage at the maximum level, because the trees themselves are huge. While you can hike the Redwoods, I would go at more of a strolling pace, in order to appreciate its beauty. Oh, and make sure you schedule a neck massage for afterwards, because your neck will be sore from looking up in amazement.

3. The Great Smoky Mountains National Park spans two states, and employs millions of trees changing colors. Many people find enjoyment bringing their bikes and riding the various trails that the park has. This way they can be embraced by the crispness of the fall air, while admiring the changing landscape.

4. Camping in the summer is a popular activity because of the weather, but camping in the fall provides a new sort of scenery that the summer can’t beat. Plus, you won’t be sweaty while trying to roast marshmallows over a fire. Since you are staying over, you get not one, but two great views. The night sky is there, just waiting for you to view it. One of the best places to do this is in Pennsylvania. They have a variety of campsites still open for business, and tons of areas just waiting to be explored by you.

5. Vermont is exceptional during this time of year. You don’t even need to get out of your car to view the majesty of Fall in this state. All you have to do is pick a road, and go.

So, what are you doing still reading this? Go explore!

If you have another beautiful place that I haven’t mentioned, suggest it in the comments! Happy Autumn!

Has the #Spotify privacy policy gone too far? Will you #QuitSpotify? - http://clapway.com/2015/08/23/%e2%80%8bthe-spotify-privacy-policy-has-changed-the-internet-is-going-crazy-342/

Spotify’s new privacy policy has led its users to object to the streaming service that counts more than 20 million paid and 55 million free subscribers. With members threatening to leave the service over changes in terms and conditions, the Spotify chief executive, Daniel Ek, apologised publicly in a written blog post.

THE NEW SPOTIFY PRIVACY POLICY

The new terms and conditions of the music service include access to sensitive and sensor data, found on the users’ smartphones. Phone numbers, photographs, locations and other information stored in your phone have been sent to the Spotify servers if you’ve hit “yes” when the new Ts&Cs popped up.

Yep, that’s what you signed up for.

QUIT SPOTIFY

The hashtag #QuitSpotify has become trending after the announcement, and users all over the world express their complaints to the service with Markus Persson (also known as Notch), creator of Minecraft, tweeting to his 2.4 million followers that he was cancelling his own account.

Spotify has said in response that those changes are meant to improve the user experience. For example, new Spotify terms and conditions request access to how fast users move in order to help the Spotify Running app which matches beats per minute of songs it chooses to play, to the pace you run.

THE PUBLIC APOLOGY

Mr. Ek apologised in a blog post and he promised an update to the new policy, which will clarify it, but he did not suggest that the terms themselves would be changed.

What he wrote was that the team should have communicated the meaning of these policies better and make clear how the information users share with Spotify will -and will not- be used. Also, he noted that Spotify will not access photos, contacts, GPS or sensor without the user’s permission.

THERE IS A SOLUTION

If you don’t wish to give access to any personal data but you still love using Spotify, the only thing you have to do is accept the new terms of service, and then deny access every time a Spotify prompt hits your screen.

However, Spotify does not want to collect your personal data just for fun or because of a spy-type “New World Order” game. Contacts are most likely to assist you in connecting with friends on the app, and photos and location data are collected to provide advertising agencies with useful, marketing information.

Tumblr Unveils Tumblr TV Exclusively for GIF-Watching - http://clapway.com/2015/06/26/tumblr-unveils-tumblr-tv-exclusively-for-gif-watching876/

Be on the lookout, internet users!

Tumblr has just unveiled Tumblr TV, which will be filled with nothing but GIFs, GIFs, GIFs, meant for either the utterly curious or complete time wasters.

How exactly does Tumblr TV work if featuring only GIFs?

Tumblr TV is available for access by everyone, whether they have a Tumblr account or not. At the moment, it is only accessible on desktops, but rumors are that the company is working on trying to make Tumblr TV work on mobile devices as well. According to reports, the new feature will work in full-screen mode and also offer “player controls like play, pause, forward, and backward.” The popular and well-known graphics will be playing in a loop either once or several times, before a different one plays. These GIFs will be coming from various Tumblr users, and those viewing the new feature can also search for them and even repost onto their accounts.

Tumblr’s motives and main purpose in releasing Tumblr TV

Tumblr’s main purpose in releasing this new feature, Tumblr TV, is to continue to capitalize and take full advantage of the growing popularity of GIFs and internet users either creating, reposting, or generally being obsessed with them. The company informs us that Tumblr TV is part of a long-term effort to expand access to one of Tumblr’s most popular features, the animated GIF. Realistically speaking, this feature may be unique, but it can also be seen as nothing more than a bunch of random, repetitive GIFs to goad at. Buy hey, it is the year 2015 in the age of information, social media, and oversharing after all, so there are always new GIFs being made by an obscene amount of people.

Hooray for the curious and for those who appear to have too much time on their hands to waste

Social media, and Tumblr specifically, has made it their mission to find ways for internet users to do something with their time, whether that’s seen as wasteful or not. Sure, social media helps with bringing together lost connections and friends, as well as significant others, even from far away. With Tumblr TV set to become a popular new feature, just how much social bonding will there be if there is nothing but aimless gawking at the computer screen?

"Bringing these gadgets to travel with you on your adventures will break any cultural or language barrier, while boredom and fatal signs of caffeine withdrawal can be resolved in minutes." - http://clapway.com/2015/06/21/the-best-gadgets-to-travel-with-this-summer/

To me, the concept of travelling is one big oxymoron. On the one hand, it is fun. Going away anywhere new brings out that inner childlike excitement in me, a sense of adventure and occasionally, relaxation. However, this ideal notion of rest and de – stressing never normally lasts. Getting lost in East Harlem, ordering the wrong drink as a result of my bad French accent and being unable to contact anyone unless I am near a wifi friendly zone are just some of the first world problems I have recently faced on my travels. To make my life a little easier from now on, and yours too, I have come up with a list of life-changing (at times also saving) gadgets to travel with on my next get away:

iTranslate

We have all been there (I hope it’s not just me). Mispronouncing a word, nodding ferociously at anyone conversing with you (hoping they aren’t secretly telling you that you are weird) or ending up with Snail Pie after politely pointing at an exotic sounding dish from the menu. Now, thanks to iTranslate, language barriers can be broken. Free to download on Itunes, this app will translate words, phrases and text in over 90 languages.

Apple Airport Express

Want wifi? Check. Need to print your boarding pass? Check. Want to listen to your music through speakers? Go on then. The multi functional Apple Airport Express certainly knows how to spoil you. Allowing you to print wirelessly, share photos and manage your very own wifi network. What’s better, is that this device is just $99. Those airport waits are about to get a whole lot more fun.

Wacaco Minipresso

Travelling is tiring and sometimes you need the help of caffeine to get you through to the end of the day. Spending money in coffee shops can be expensive and depending where you are, they might be few and far between. The Wacaco Minipresso is a hand operated, compact espresso machine that is small enough to carry around in your bag and take out after your next energy slump.

Scrubba

If you are going to be backpacking around Europe this summer, you will be having to limit what you take. However, what happens when it comes to running out of clean clothes? Scrubba is a compact wash bag that allows you to wash your clothes wherever you are. What’s better, is that you can dry them too. Who needs a washing machine?

Satechi Smart Travel Router

I have lost count of the number of plug adaptors I have collected in the past few years. If you are unlikely to travel back to that country in the near future, it can lead to an expensive investment. This smart Satechi Smart Travel Router adapts to fit the most common plug configurations in one small, neat cube. Result – a fully charged phone to entertain me at the bus stop.

Bringing these gadgets to travel with you on your adventures will break any cultural or language barrier, while boredom and fatal signs of caffeine withdrawal can be resolved in minutes. Compact, light and forward thinking, these gadgets will send you back from your holiday as relaxed as when you arrived.
