In honor of season 5 of Teen Wolf Premiering soon, I thought I would write a post inspired by one of my favorite characters, Lydia Martin. In the series Lydia Martin, played by Holland Roden, is a banshee. According to Wikipedia, a banshee is a fairy woman who begins to wail when someone is about to die. That is pretty much the gist of her powers. But Lydia Martin is so much more than a screeching woman of death. She is a sassy red-head, with an incredible fashion sense and the confidence of a queen. Every episode, I am like “Yassss Lydia Yassss!”
If she is missing from an episode, I’m agitated and confused.
If Lydia didn’t have supernatural creatures trying to kill her all the time, she could do so much with her banshee powers. Just imagine what you could do with her gifts, without the constant irritation of someone hunting you down. Here is what life as a banshee would be like, when people aren’t attempting to kill you:
Saving Lives and Living on the Edge
Your life as a banshee would mean that she could save so many lives. You could accomplish a ton of good deeds to balance out all the naughty things you would get into. Having the ability to sense death is scary but enlightening. Your life would have a sense of purpose and a realization that life doesn’t last long so you should take advantage of it. Be daring and do things that keep your adrenaline pumping. Step outside of your comfort zone and try something new. As a banshee, your close relationship with death makes you have an appreciation for life.
A Singing Career
Your vocal chords are powerful. When I say powerful, I mean breaking your windows, your neighbors’ windows, and the windows in the cars down the street powerful. You could take over Broadway with your vocal talents. You would be able to hit notes Mariah Carey couldn’t even hit. Life as a banshee, could mean having an amazing singing career.
The Supernatural Boys
Let’s not forget about the supernatural boys. Lydia dated incredibly sexy Jackson, who turned into the Kanima, in seasons 1 and 2. Then, she hooked up with super powerful alpha wolf, Aiden, in season 3. And hopefully, she will be making the moves on Deputy Parrish this season. Life as a banshee means your choice of hot supernatural boys. And let’s just assume that their stamina is on point.
As you can see, there are so many things that you can do as a banshee. You get to be a good Samaritan and cuddle up to cute boys. And in between boys and saving lives, you can record a chart topping album. Life as a banshee sounds pretty awesome. You can watch the season 5 premiere of Teen Wolf on MTV, June 29th at 10/9c for further proof!
