Kiwi Gets Rid of Bad Breath - http://clapway.com/2015/10/21/kiwi-gets-rid-of-bad-breath123/

Morning breath is no stranger to us. Though it is caused by the decrease in saliva in our mouths, we might think it might be because of something we’ve eaten or as a symptom of some kind of illness or indication of cavities or a periodontal disease.

Dentists around the globe promote and recommend tooth brushing three times a day, using moth wash and floss, and all of this can’t get rid of the garlic-meets-rotten-egg scent that plagues the mouth after waking up and may even follow us around after meals throughout the day.

Though there are foods that cause bad breath, there are also foods that get rid of it.

Tea is a commonly known fighter against bad breath, since it’s been reported to be effective in deodorizing methyl mercaptan, which causes a smell akin to rotten cabbage and onion. This is generated by bacteria that comes with tooth decay and periodontal disease and gives off this unpleasant odor. Black tea is particularly effective in fighting this, as are teas blended with peppermint or clove.

Sage, eucalyptus, tea tree oil and pine needle are also known to be bad breath fighting herbs.

Another notable and unlikely fighter is the kiwi fruit.

The kiwi fruit is enjoyed by many for its unique taste and texture, and as it turns out, it’s effective in fighting bad breath.

An experiment carried out by the Ezaki Glico Health Sciences Institute laboratories took two focus groups, one which was given a tablet containing a combination of components derived from kiwi fruit, and another was given placebo. It was found that the group taking the tablet had degreased volatile sulfur compounds, which cause bad breath.

Other Fruits that Fight Morning Breath

That’s one more fruit to add to the list of bad breath killers. Other important foods and components that fight bad breath are vitamin D commonly found in fish, soy, almonds and oranges, because it has anti-oxidizing abilities that cleanse the mouth. Pineapple and papaya are also a part of this list since they contain proteolytic enzymes that break down particles that cause bad breath.

Take notes for all of these, and little by little, you’ll start to see a difference. Where your mouth once felt thick and unpleasant, these foods will help keep not only good dental health, but a more pleasant taste in the back of your tongue.
